Drakina and Ophelia neared Zovania, and a sense of curiosity and vigilance enveloped them. The growls that had disrupted the quiet of their journey grew louder, an ominous symphony that seemed out of place in the usually serene surroundings of their stronghold.
As they approached the gates, the source of the growls became apparent. Unlike any they had seen before, a diverse group of creatures were amassing near their fortress. Ophelia, ever unpredictable, did not seem taken aback, but Drakina and the rest of their followers were visibly startled.
What made these creatures peculiar was not just their variety - bears, wolves, lizardmen, werewolves, and nagas - but also their familiar forms. Drakina, with her sharp, analytical gaze, recognized them.
These were the very Ascendants and beasts they had defeated in past battles. Some were from recent encounters, while others were adversaries they had vanquished months ago in their search for sergeants.
