Eve held her breath as she returned to her seat. The cushion suddenly felt full of pins and needles. Her eyes on the large throne at once only to meet Damien's questioning gaze.

He noticed that she left and he did not believe that she went to the washroom. That made her wonder how he would react? She had told him that she had offered wealth to support him to be a bishop. It was true that she did. But he asked for something else and she was not sure how it would benefit the church.

But he had warned her to not inform Damien about it. And it confirmed that the exchange was not as smile as one could think.

Harold was not there yet, and she was not sure if Charlotten would join them. If not, how would she get what the church wanted? She stared at her hands when a maid came to her seat again.
