Kapitel 153: Chapter 152

Kid Flash was also surprised by a stab when he tried to approach, which he avoided by moving away at high speed.

"Sorry for that, Kid is a bit too energetic."

Dio said before that she was scared enough to jump from the second floor.

"Just keep him away from me. In fact, I want all of you to stay right there," she warned.

"We don't want to harm you. I am..."

"I know who you are; I have the internet."

Rose interrupted Starfire's introduction.

"But you don't know why we're here."

Dio said to her.

"Yes, I want to know that."

Rose demanded.

Then Dio told her everything they knew and why they were there without lying or hiding anything.

He told her that her father was coming to this country, and she didn't take it well.

Dio didn't even need to look at Raven to understand that they were not working together.

She may be a first-class actress, but she can't fake her feelings.

That made him feel a lot better because the last thing he wanted was for one of them to be a double agent working for Slade Wilson.

"Do you really expect me to believe that?"

Rose asked in the end.

"In what part don't you believe?"

Dio asked.

"That you're here just because a girl like me is being used?"

"That's half the reason. The other is to figure out why all this is happening and send a message to those who threatened us."

Dio was one hundred percent sincere again.

She stared at him with her large sunglasses for a few more seconds before finally asking.

"What comes next?"

"You could tell us about yourself and your history with your father. We're really in the dark here; we couldn't find any information online about you."

She approached Dio and pointed her finger at his chest.

"And you won't. My story and that jerk of a father's story are none of your business. All you need to know is that I want to stick my knife in the bastard's heart if he has one."

"That's pretty dark; you sure have daddy issues."

Kid teased her and received looks from all of them.

"Daddy issues?"

Rose approached Kid in a good mood, who took a step back until he remembered his dignity and forced himself to stand still.

Rose didn't get too close, just enough for him to see her face clearly, and then she took off her sunglasses.

"Does this look like just 'daddy issues' to you?"

Rose asked sarcastically.

She wasn't wearing an eyepatch under her sunglasses, so they could all see the empty socket where her eye used to be.

Obviously, this nearly caused Kid to urinate on his pants, and Dio could almost feel his disgust from here.

Dio had seen zombies, ghosts, and monsters from mythology while going through the underworld, so this wasn't as scary for him.

"Your own father did this to you?"

Starfire asked with shock.

Rose turned her face to her while enjoying the shocked expression, but that feeling passed when she looked at Raven and Dio, who showed no surprise.

"Worse, he manipulated me to hurt myself."

Rose put her sunglasses back on.

The atmosphere became darker.

"Why don't we move? We have a secure apartment nearby. We can go there while waiting for the rest of our friends and have a conversation."

Dio suggested.

"I'm not going anywhere with you. Let's wait here."

She refused because she was suspicious, but he had another bait ready.

"All right, but it would be nice to take a nice hot shower and have something to eat. The fridge is always stocked, which is why I love waiting in these safe houses."

Dio threw the bait.

"Shower?"

Rose took the bait.

...

The safe apartment was in a neighboring city, and they flew slowly for about twenty minutes.

It was a nice place in a not-so-busy area.

It wasn't huge, but it had enough room for all of us, and as soon as Rose entered, she immediately rushed to the bathroom.

According to the footage, she had been running non-stop for almost ten hours without a bath, food, or rest.

She may not get tired easily because of her powers, but that long without a shower isn't fun, especially with her super senses.

Dio had even learned a simple spell to clean himself, which he often used when he spent days in the underworld or on a very long mission.

"What do you guys think of her?"

Dio asked them.

Rose was still in the bathroom, and they were all sitting in chairs at the kitchen table.

While the refrigerator was open eggs and bacon floated out onto the countertop behind them.

A knife also levitated and began to cut the bacon.

"She's a bit too dark for my taste."

Kid replied while eyeing the countertop. A floating pan had been placed on the stove, which was turned on.

"She seems to be a fierce warrior who suffered harm at the hands of those close to her. I can totally relate to how she feels—her pain has made her who she is today."

Starfire said this while also keeping an eye on the stove. Unlike Kid, she was enjoying it and not finding it strange.

"She distrusts everything and is always expecting the worst from others. Right now, she's checking if she can escape through the bathroom window."

Raven said this while ignoring the bacon being placed in the frying pan.

"At least she didn't try to escape as soon as she entered the bathroom."

Dio said.

It didn't take long for them to hear her scream.

"What the heck is this?"

Rose exclaimed while entering the kitchen with a towel over her shoulder and only a long white shirt that was so large it reached her knees.

She also had a black pirate-style eye patch covering her missing eye.

"They're my servants, don't worry about it."

Dio reassured the girl.

There was something invisible behind him.

They broke a few eggs into a bowl, added salt and pepper, and mixed everything together before pouring it into another cooking pan.

Rose was about to say something, but Kid stopped her.

"Trust me, when it comes to magic, just nod and go along; it makes everything easier."

Kid advised, and Rose followed his advice, then sat in the last chair at the table.

It's not the first time Dio has summoned them to do something for him.

The Lares Spirits are invisible attendants who only perform domestic tasks like cleaning or cooking, and they don't have any other purpose beyond that.

The Romans called them Aurae, the same kind of spirits Melinoë used in her temple.

They have a symbiotic relationship with home, unlike other types of spirits that feed on negative emotions like fear.

The Aurae devour feelings of gratitude for the service they provide.

It's only been a year since he managed to summon them, and they have been using them since then because they are incredibly competent and helpful.

In short, summoning them to his "home" was one of the best things he had ever done since it freed him from all household chores.

After a few minutes of silence, plates were brought to the table, and a large serving of scrambled eggs with bacon was put on each one.

Starfire and Kid Flash each have two plates because one has many stomachs, and the other acts as he did.

"We have time; you can eat slowly."

Dio told Rose, who wasn't chewing her food.

The rest of the meal proceeded calmly, and when they finished eating, the Aurae took the plates to be washed.

"Will they take long?"

Starfire asked while anticipating them.

"No, they should arrive in the next few minutes."

Dio replied confidently, and he could already hear them approaching.

"TFMMMM!"

Dio heard that too.

It was a strange sound and something he had never heard before, resembling the launch of a projectile using combustion.

A rocket?

Dio looked out the window of the room next to the kitchen in the direction of the sound.

Dio could clearly see something approaching fast a few kilometers away while leaving a trail of white smoke behind it.

"RPG!"

Dio shouted to warn everyone.

"BOOOOOOM!!"
