Kapitel 119: Chapter 118

A ghost wearing a strong red outfit with a white "D" on the chest, his body is all white, with no hair and black paint around his eyes.

"Boston, you bastard, what are you doing here?"

Constantine asked while looking at him.

"We have a problem!"

"Who is he talking to?"

Starfire asked.

Only Raven, Constantine, and Dio could see the ghost.

"With a ghost."

Dio replied to her so she wouldn't think Constantine was crazy.

"Can you see me? Wait, there's something different about him."

The ghost seemed very excited about this.

"Be happy and bow properly, Boston; you are before royalty descended from the God of Death."

Constantine is an idiot, but this seemed to hold some significance for Boston, who was floating a few inches away in the air.

Dio remembered him as The Deadman, a ghost summoned by a deity to bring justice to his murder and the world.

He is different from other ghosts because he can possess people and has more freedom.

Actually, it's not surprising that Constantine knew who Dio's dad was.

Dio mentioned in an interview that he is a god, and there's a symbol of Hades' weapon on the front of his armor.

The details can be found by anyone knowledgeable and interested in mythology.

"We don't have time for this. Rama Kushna sent a message of danger. Something big is about to happen in Gotham; we have to search and prevent whatever it is!"

Boston was still a bit away from him, but he managed to continue the conversation.

"I can't help you with that; I'm stuck with the guy over there."

Constantine pointed the cigarette at him.

"Don't play dumb, Constantine; you know damn well that we probably have the same problem."

Dio said to him.

"If you guys can talk to whatever this new guy is, you'll have to share it for the others because this is a pretty weird scene."

Kid Flash interrupted them while forgetting that many here can't talk to ghosts.

Dio pointed to the ghost with his hand glowing gray and said.

"Βλέπω!"

(See!)

The ectoplasm enveloped Boston, and seconds later, it disappeared.

"Is this a ghost?"

Starfire asked curiously.

"Ghosts, vampires, what's next, werewolves?"

Speedy was reaching his limit.

"I find it incredible, but it's a bit annoying to encounter these guys who keep breaking the laws of science."

Kid Flash commented.

"Boston Brand, a circus acrobat who was murdered during one of his trapeze performances, the killer was never caught."

"Do you know him, Robin?"

Aqualad asked, as quick recognition from him wasn't as fast.

"We both worked on his case, but without success."

Robin replied while looking at Batman, who was just observing.

"Wait, are you investigating my case too?"

Deadman asked excitedly while approaching Robin, who took a few steps back.

"Yes, but we still don't have new evidence."

"It doesn't matter; I'm just happy to know that there's still someone who hasn't given up on finding my killer."

"Enough of this waste of time; we have a vampire to hunt."

Andrew shouted impatiently.

"Comrade, when a goddess-sponsored ghost appears with a danger warning, you listen to him and then pack your bags and leave town."

Constantine suggested.

"Sure, now we have gods."

Speedy took a break from everything and sat down on a park bench to listen to the conversation.

"What threat?"

Batman asked.

"He doesn't have the details; gods and prophets are not known for their clear messages."

Dio responded.

"Don't even get me started."

Constantine agreed, which made Dio feel a little uncomfortable.

"The chances are high that Mary will be responsible for such a problem; we need to find her."

Robin said.

"Let's split into pairs and search the whole city."

"You don't know how to count, Bats; there are eleven people here."

He forgot to count the ghost.

Then, a magical portal of blue energy appeared behind Constantine like a vortex without making a sound, but he felt the magical energy in the air and turned to look.

"It seems that alcohol or drugs have affected your mind to the point where you can't even count."

The woman's voice came from the portal, and Constantine was left speechless for the first time while letting his cigarette fall to the ground in shock.

After the portal closed, she just stood there.

She wore a long black cape and a corset, with white stripes showing off her breasts.

The boots were high and covered most of her thighs; line-patterned pantyhose covered the part that was showing.

She had a killer body, blue eyes, and long black hair that blew in the wind.

"Zee!"

Constantine could say before closing the coffin that Zatanna gave him a cold look.

"Batman, if I knew he would be here, I wouldn't be here."

"Noted,"

Batman calmly replied to the deadly look she was giving him.

Dio lifted her off the ground and hugged her happily to lighten the situation.

"Why all this excitement? We saw each other a short time ago."

Zatanna asked with a smile while hugging him.

"Different temporal perspectives; I'll tell you everything later."

Dio said and put her back on the ground.

"Who is this goddess?"

Kid Flash asked.

Dio turned and introduced her to them.

"Everyone, this is my teacher Zatanna Zatara, one of the most powerful magicians in the world and a contact for the League in case something magical happens."

"It's a pleasure to meet you all personally; Kírix spoke very highly of everyone."

Zatanna said while giving everyone gentle smiles, which made Kid Flash almost have a cardiac arrest.

Zatanna's smile disappeared as she turned her gaze back to Constantine.

"Constantine."

Zatanna greeted him in a low voice.

"Zatanna."

This time, Constantine is clever and doesn't use her affectionate nickname.

"These two definitely have a history."

After pointing out the obvious, Robin standing next to Kid Flash struck him in the back of the head.

"Let's split up and start searching. I want everyone connected and patrolling the designated routes."

Batman formed the groups and provided them with routes to minimize search time and maximize the search area.

As Batman already mentioned, he won't lose sight of Andrew and John.

Dio ended up with Constantine.

"Why him?"

Dio asked with dull while knowing very well that there was no way to change his partner.

"You are the only magician here who wouldn't kill him if he were close, and I also don't want him wandering around my city without someone keeping an eye on him."

That was the response Dio got.

They only need to go to the compass point marked on the map Batman gave them and move forward.

The park is almost in the middle of the city because of this.

"Do you know how to fly?"

Dio asked Constantine.

Constantine smiled confidently and raised both hands, which began to glow in green.

On the ground, a fire pentagram appeared beneath his feet and levitated as if made of something solid with Constantine on top.

"Nice trick."

"Wait until you see me with a party balloon; then you'll see what I'm capable of."

Constantine joked while gaining altitude.

Dio began to fly as well and maintained a speed equal to that of Constantine.

"This is certainly better than my trick—a new magic. Do you want to buy?"

"Look ahead,"

Dio warned him.

Constantine was about to hit a tree trunk.

'Why did I warn him?'

"Hey, wait for me!"

Deadman shouted while approaching in the air and positioning himself next to Constantine.

A few seconds later, they left the park and headed into one of the less crowded streets of Gotham.

Batman chose Crime Alley as his search zone.

After him, Dio was the only one who knew every corner and area of this place—the perfect man for the job.

"What a bloody dump; this reminds me of Manchester."

Constantine commented after seeing the view of this beautiful city.

It didn't take long for them to reach Crime Alley, which looked the same.

The only changes were the closed shops or buildings declared not fit for living in, and all of them were probably more crowded now than before they were emptied.

The homeless and drug addicts find refuge in buildings that are empty.

It was getting dark, and those who thrive in the darkness began to appear while taking their places.

After half an hour of silence, during which no sign of Mary or her vampires could be seen, the atmosphere became tense and silent.

"So, what happened between you and Zatanna?"

Deadman asked.

"Life happened, mate, life happened."

Constantine replied while lighting another cigarette.

"You're in a hurry to go to hell? How many cigarettes do you smoke per day?"

"Two."

"Don't joke; you're already on the fourth."

"Two packs a day!"

This idiot won't last long.
