Kapitel 39: Chapter 39 - There Is No Cure

Ophelia wet the towel and squeezed the water out. She folded it carefully and wiped the sweaty forehead of Nathaniel who was sleeping and breathing shallowly.

Since Miles Findley received the notice from the little duke, he took the troop and led them towards the North Mountains, while Ophelia and the physician were the only ones remaining in the castle who were allowed into the duke's room.

The doctor was exhausted after several days of care, and she offered him to switch for a few hours, so he could get some sleep.

"They are coming back soon, please hang in there…"

She whispered to the sleeping person. Ophelia promised to watch over the duke, and she was determined to keep her word.

The short horn signal sounded from the gate, announcing to the main house that Cassiel was back. It was usually reserved for the duke only, but since Nathan weakened to the point of not leaving his bedroom, the gatekeepers switched to notifying his successor.
