Janet's POV
It was a twenty-minute ride from the packed hospital to the palace.
I teased Leroy throughout the whole ride, to the extent that he threatened to throw me out of the car if I didn't allow him to concentrate on the staring.
That was my own way of getting back at him for allowing me to come to the Moonstone Pack alone.
Can he imagine what I went through in the human world? I almost broke my ankle while running away from Tony's men.
When we got to the palace, I couldn't believe my eyes; the palace was wow.
Even the word beautiful wasn't enough to describe how beautiful the palace was. I only saw such beautiful buildings on television; I never knew that they existed in real life.
I was lost in my thoughts while admiring the beautiful palace, to the extent that I didn't notice when we drove into the palace.
I was jerked back to reality by the taps of Leroy.
"Janet, what are you thinking about?" Leroy asked me annoyingly.
"We almost got into an accident all thanks to you, and now that we had finally made it back to the palace safe and sound, could you at least come down from the car?" Leroy asked me annoyingly.
"Here we go again," I scoffed in annoyance. "Leroy, can't you at least be a good big brother for once?" I asked Leroy, and immediately he furrowed his brows at me.
"Yes, normally, as a good big brother, you are supposed to come and open the doors of the car for me; that's what big brothers do," I said to Leroy, not minding the fact that he was about to shoot lasers at me with his eyes.
"Can you come again?" Leroy asked me while peering into my eyeballs with an icy glare.
"Nevermind," I said to him before opening the door of the car.
As I was about to step down, Leroy held my hand and drew me, and immediately I looked at him surprisedly.
"One day this mouth of yours is going to get you into trouble," he said to me while peering into my eyeballs.
"No, it won't," I said to him before stepping down from the car.
Once I got out of the car, he too came down.
"Follow me," he commanded me while heading towards the entrance of the palace, and without hesitating, I followed him from behind.
What left me astonished as we were walking in was how the guards that were guarding the entrance of the palace were greeting him politely; some of them even bowed a little bit while greeting him.
I had wanted to ask him why they were greeting him in such a manner, but as much as I knew Leroy, I knew that he wouldn't give me an answer, not when we were already some distance away from the Alpha.
If I was going to get an answer, I had to wait for the proper time.
"Greetings, Alpha," Leroy greeted the Alpha while prostrating himself a little bit in a sign of respect.
"Welcome back, Leroy," the Alpha replied from his throne.
"Greetings, Alpha," I greeted him too while repeating the same gesture as Leroy.
"Greetings Janet, I hope you are feeling fine now." The Alpha asked me.
"Yes, Alpha," I replied.
"By the way, I hope Leroy showed you around the pack just as I instructed him." The Alpha asked me, and immediately I turned my gaze towards Leroy, who was standing beside me, but he rolled his eyes angrily at me.
As I was about to tell the Alpha, he immediately chipped in.
"No Alpha I told her about it, but she suggested that she take her shower and eat something before that." Leroy lied, and immediately my jaw dropped in surprise.
With that, I immediately felt linked to him.
"You liar," I said to him through the link, and immediately he blocked the link.
"Janet, Leroy lives in the palace here with us even though he's rarely around because of his duties as the chief commander, and being his sister, you too will be living in the palace with us," the Alpha said to me.
"Thanks a lot, Alpha; I really appreciate your kindness towards me," I said to the Alpha.
"No need to thank me, Janet; it's Leroy you are supposed to be thanking; our pack really owes him a lot," the Alpha said to me, and immediately I faked a smile at him.
Only if he knew the numerous thoughts that were running through my mind, who would have believed that Leroy, a simple guard in Oz Pack, is a chief commander in Moonstone, and despite that, he is always calm and modest like an ordinary citizen, and the Alpha just mentioned that Moonstone Pack owes him a lot? No wonder the guards outside were greeting him politely as he was walking in.
"I will be taking my leave now, Alpha; I need to go and supervise the guards that are watching over the border," Leroy said to the Alpha.
"No problem, Leroy; see you in the evening then," the Alpha said to Leroy, who nodded in agreement.
"Janet, I have to go now; we will talk in the evening," Leroy said to me.
"Ok, Leroy, thank you once again," I said to Leroy.
"Don't mention it, please, and don't forget what I told you; make sure you tell the Alpha what happened in the Moonstone pack," Leroy said to me.
"I will, I said to him, and immediately he smiled at me before he started heading outside.
Once Leroy walked out, another young lady walked in; she was a little taller than me, but it was possible that we were age mates.
When she walked in, I thought that she was the Alpha's mate because of how beautiful she was, but when she approached me, I noticed that she resembled the Alpha; possibly she was his sister.
"Hey, you are Janet, right?" She said it to me with a warm smile, and immediately I nodded.
"I'm Daisy, she said to me while stretching her hand for a handshake, and immediately I reciprocated.
"I'm sorry for what happened last night; my brother told me that he ran into you last night," she said to me while turning her gaze towards the Alpha, and immediately the Alpha turned his gaze away.
"Hope you weren't hurt." She asked me, and immediately I shook my head negatively while staring at her surprisedly.
"I have told him many times to be careful while driving, but he never listens," the Alpha's sister said to me, but I kept on staring at her, surprised, because I still couldn't figure out why the Alpha told her that he ran into me while I was the one that fell on his car.
"Hope he apologized to you." The Alpha's younger sister asked me.
"Yes, he did," I replied brusquely while looking at the Alpha, who smiled while shaking his head in disbelief.
"Daisy, can you please show her to her room?" The Alpha asked her sister.
"Yes, of course," Daisy replied.
"Let's go," she said to me while holding my hand.
"I had specially supervised the decorations of the room when Tyler informed me of your arrival, and I'm sure that you will love the room," Daisy said to me as we were heading towards the room.
Tony's POV
"Are you sure that it's the Alpha of the Moonstone pack you saw carrying her?" I asked the trackers who I have sent to search for Janet and Leroy.
I have been patiently waiting for their arrival for over a week, and happily, they have returned with the information I was expecting.
"Yes, Alpha, Moonstone Pack is the only neighboring pack around, and anyone who leaves Oz Pack will possibly run to Moonstone in order to find refuge. But in order to get to Moonstone Pack, it's either you pass through the border or through the forest, and we all know that they would never pass through the border after what they have done, so the only option they have is to pass through the forest, one of the trackers explained to me, and immediately I nodded in agreement before signaling him to continue.
"Since we knew that anyone who tries going to Moonstone Pack through the forest will certainly pass through the human world, we went ahead of them through the human world, and once we got there, we asked some of our friends who were merchants in the human world whether they had seen them around, and happily, they informed us that they hadn't seen them around.
While awaiting their arrival, we rented a motel where we spent the night, and fortunately, she too rented the same motel at her arrival, but she wasn't with her guardian angel when she arrived," the tracker said to me.
"If she wasn't with Leroy, then why weren't you people able to catch her?" I asked them inquisitively.
"We almost caught up with her, but we didn't know what came over her. She jumped down from the window of the room where she was staying, despite the fact that she was on the second floor," one of the trackers said to me.
"What!" I exclaimed in surprise, That girl is really something else; if I had known what she was capable of, I would have asked my father to execute her with her parents," I said to them, my voice filled with regrets.
"How did the Alpha of the Moonstone Pack find her then?" I asked them.
"We too don't know because she had already jumped down before we barged into the room, and before we could get down, the Alpha was already carrying her into his," the tracker said to me, and immediately I heaved a sigh.
"I must admit that you guys really did a good job out there, and just as promised, I'm going to pay you people handsomely for it. But about the promise of integrating you people among the elders of Oz Pack that will be after capturing her; in other words, I still need you people, and I hope that I can count on all of you."I asked them.
With that, they took a glance at each other, and after some seconds, they proceeded:
"We are always at your service, my lord."
"Perfect," I replied happily. "You guys won't regret being loyal," I said to them, and immediately they smiled happily at me.
"To begin, I will first send a message to the Alpha of the Moonstone pack, asking him to hand over to me the two rebels that escaped from my pack, but if he hesitates, then we will have to do it the hard way," I said to my elders and the trackers.
"That's a good idea, my lord," one of my elders said to me.
"I know, I'm never out of good ideas," I replied while grinning wickedly.
