Chapter 7

Selena’s POV：

"Jonny, it's you. What's going on? Is someone sick at home?" Charles opened the door, and I heard him call the man Jonny.

"Miss Wilson has allergies and is having trouble breathing. This time she's very sick, she says..." Jonny whispers to Charles. I tried to capture the important information in their conversation, but Jonny's voice was getting quieter and I couldn't hear what was going on.

To my surprise, Penelope, who had been shouting at me before dinner, was now ill and not well.

I wrapped myself around the sheets and sat on Charles's king-sized bed, deep in thought, not even realizing that Charles was back. He threw me a new white bathrobe, just like the one he was wearing. "You get dressed first."

His tone returned to coldness and his face darkened. I looked at him quizzically. "What happened?"

Charles didn't speak. He just stared at me deeply and asked me an abrupt question. "What does your perfume smell like?"

Perfume? What's he talking about?
