Kapitel 123: Tumblestone

September 16, 2005

5:00 am

Somewhere inside the Kemonohaji Forest.

"Growlithe, use Flame Wheel!" Floyd commanded.

"Awrrr," Growlithe rushed towards Beedrill.

Bang!

Beedrill felt pain as its body began to burn out due to Growlithe's attack.

"Don't give it a chance; use Ember," Floyd added.

"Awrrr," Growlithe expelled a flame from his mouth.

Swisshh

Beedrill lost consciousness.

"Goomy~"

The leader Goomy, who was watching, celebrated his victory.

"Awwrrrr!" Growlithe howled proudly, then rushed towards Floyd, eagerly waiting for his praise.

"Good, well done. You did a great job, Growlithe," Floyd complimented as he ruffled his head.

Growlithe licked Floyd's face, expressing his happiness.

"Well, stop it, hahaha," Floyd laughed. He liked the activeness of this guy. Unlike his previous self, who was scared to approach humans, the current Growlithe was like the normal Growlithe he had always seen in anime, except that his Growlithe was in Hisuian Form.

Floyd looked at his stats.

Pokemon: Growlithe (Hisuian – Disappearing 31%)

Level: 21 ♂

Type: Fire + Rock

Ability: Rock Head1

Moves:

Intermediate: Bite, Tackle

Beginner: Ember, Flame Wheel, Howl, (Head Smash), (Outrage)

Genetic Skill: (Head Smash)

Yesterday, Floyd allowed all of his Pokémon to fight, and Growlithe was the one who improved a lot and even surpassed the leader Goomy.

The forest, abundant in Grass and Bug Type Pokémon, benefited Growlithe's improvement. Even some low-level Flying Type Pokémon couldn't compete with Growlithe.

He looked at the many unconscious Beedrills and realized it wouldn't be safe to stay here longer. It was time to leave.

"Fraxure, Goomy, Growlithe, let's go," Floyd said.

The three Pokémon nodded and followed him. But as they were hurrying back, Floyd spotted some unusual stones on the right side.

He rushed towards them, followed by his Pokémon. Upon reaching them, a Geodude roared at him.

"Goomy, it's your turn, use Water Gun!" Floyd commanded quickly.

"Goo~" Goomy nodded and activated his Water Gun, aiming it from his mouth.

Swissshhh

"Geo-dude~" Geodude roared angrily, as Goomy's attack significantly affected it.

Geodude used Rollout towards Goomy.

"Goomy, don't be scared, take the attack and use Bubble," Floyd encouraged.

"Goo~" Goomy nodded and then used the Bubble move. A flurry of small bubbles emerged from Goomy's mouth, rushing towards Geodude.

Geodude screamed; his Rollout move was interrupted, and he collapsed, losing consciousness.

Ignoring the Geodude, Floyd approached the mysterious stone to inspect it. His eyes lit up with surprise upon closer examination. The prismatic stones with sharp edges transitioning from brown to peach atop a muddy base. This was Tumblestones! A Key ingredients for making Pokéballs. He hadn't expected to find them here.

"Fraxure, break it," Floyd instructed.

"Fra-xure~" Fraxure nodded and activated his Dragon Claw to break the stone.

CRASH!

Floyd collected each piece into his Doraemon backpack and announced, "Let's go back!"

"If I can find Apricorn, making Pokéballs should be my next task," Floyd mused as he and his Pokémon headed back.

Inside the Safe Zone,

Dratini struggled as his body started to shed again, while the four Goomies engaged in a fight against Horsea, using their Water Gun and Bubble abilities. Horsea struggled to find an opportunity to strike, outnumbered and continuously dodging attacks from her four opponents.

Then they noticed a young Gyarados roaming the area, passing by them before returning to his position. Landing on the ground, the young Gyarados saw his father lying silently, then opened his eyes to look at him.

"ROAR" (Father, that human has started going deeper again; he must be fighting other beasts. This should be their training.)

Gyarados reported the situation to his father. Hidden deep within his eyes was an envy, a longing to join in the activities he observed. Over the past four days, Gyarados had gleaned knowledge about the situation, sometimes directly from Floyd, who took the initiative to explain things to him. He understood that training could significantly improve a Pokémon's strength, and Floyd's Pokémon were ample evidence of this.

Floyd seemed to possess extensive knowledge about systematic training, something Gyarados himself was unfamiliar with. Floyd talked about Pokémon typings, their strengths and weaknesses, how to maximize advantages, and how to cope with disadvantages. When Gyarados inquired about his own strengths and weaknesses, Floyd, with a roll of his eyes and a smug look, dismissively responded, "Who are you? Do I have an obligation to tell you?" This reaction frustrated the young Gyarados, making him angry. Knowing he was outmatched by Fraxure and under the watchful eyes of other Pokémon, he refrained from causing trouble and walked away.

Yet, the young Gyarados's curiosity about improving his strength was overwhelming. He tried to ask his father how to get stronger, but his father's advice to just fight and eat for strength wasn't what he was seeking. He desired the systematic training Floyd had mentioned but hesitated to express this in front of his father.

So, he continued to spy on them, pretending to roam the surroundings. Other Pokémon left him alone since he caused no trouble. However, his father was not allowed the same freedom to roam, which angered him.

Every time he caused trouble, Blastoise defeated him, rendering him powerless. His father also realized that they couldn't do much in their current situation and had become prisoners. Since then, he hadn't caused any trouble and had just remained silent, observing the surroundings.

A positive aspect was that Floyd always provided them with delicious food, which left a good impression on them. Consequently, Floyd's status in their eyes changed from 'Weak Human' to 'Human.'

The appealing food they received every day led them to think of the place as paradise, and they didn't want to leave. However, whenever the father Gyarados remembered that this was the territory of a human, whom he considered weak, his pride and ego flared, struggling to accept that a human was superior to him.

Yet, the more time they spent there, the more their defenses began to break down. The father Gyarados couldn't admit it, but he also too wanted to stay. He looked at his son and silently communicated: "ROAR" (That little girl?)

"ROAR" (Father, she's currently training.)

"ROAR" (Oh, training, by that human again.) The father Gyarados had learned about the concept of training from Floyd and had been silently listening every time the young Gyarados and Floyd talked.

"ROAR" (He said once we start training, we can easily improve our abilities and become stronger.)

His father then silently glared at him.

The young Gyarados shivered and then quickly said: "ROAR" (Father, do you think that human can fool us? We're not idiots, hmph, I know his intentions; they want us to submit to them. How can we get stronger through that training? Hmph, only a fool would believe that.)

The father Gyarados remained silent, not responding. He had also observed Kanraku's Blastoise training and was intrigued by the term "Move" that the humans talked about. Each move had a different name and function, and to Gyarados's surprise, Blastoise had memorized them all. This was a revelation to Gyarados, who didn't even know his own moves and just only acted purely on instinct.

Regarding the humans' intentions, he was aware of them, especially Floyd's obvious interest in his son. Reflecting on this, he gazed at his son.
