Kapitel 178: Chapter 177

In this underground world, the flow of wind was extremely slow, but that didn't mean that it couldn't flow. The surrounding air had slowly recovered to a certain degree, and although it couldn't be compared to when the forest was lush, Lin's troops only needed a small increase in oxygen to begin their recovery.

However, this area was still shrouded in darkness. Perhaps the glowing creatures at the top of the cave had already died from the lack of oxygen, so this area would never light up again.

Lin increased the heartbeat of every troop to wake them up. The first to wake up were the Collectors. Together with the Sliders, they quickly devoured any food that was either burnt or not.

Following them were a small troop that was only 1 meter in size, Lin called them 'Guardians'. The surface of the Guardians' body was currently equipped with the most powerful sensory organs. They floated in the air and spread out, monitoring every direction to prevent any sudden attacks from the Inca swarm.

At the same time, the Collectors were transporting all the nutrients to the center of the troop — — the Breeding Chamber.

The Breeding Pod was a mobile unit. It was usually spherical or oval in shape. There were no organs in its body to digest food. The collector would directly send the digested nutrients to the Breeding Pod for it to absorb. Using these nutrients, the Breeding Pod would quickly assemble a large number of cells in its body.

Other creatures usually laid eggs and let the young cells inside the eggs slowly divide and grow, but Lin's method of creating soldiers was much faster. The Breeding Chamber could create all the cells a creature needed at the same time, and a soldier was born just like that.

Depending on the complexity of the cells, the creation time would vary. But it was much faster than laying eggs. Not to mention, simple cannon fodder like the Predators. She only needed a short amount of time to create a large troop.

At the same time, to prevent the same thing from happening again, Lin decided to give every troop a bladder to store oxygen.

Lin brought a total of 30 Breeding Chambers with her this time. While the troops were constantly producing, Lin was also paying close attention to her surroundings. The Inca swarm should have noticed the oxygen supply, but they still didn't attack.

Where did the frenzied attack from before go? Forget it, I don't care. This was a good chance for Lin to recover her troops.

However, even after Lin had finished devouring all the food around her, the Inca swarm still hadn't appeared. In the distant forest, Lin couldn't see any movement at all.

Not coming? Then, let's begin the attack!

A large number of Predators once again charged out from Lin's army. Some of them were newly created by Lin, while some were not in battle. With the Predators as the vanguard, Lin's army charged through the dark Land of Ashes and quickly reached the edge of the forest that was not affected by the flames.

The predators rushed into the forest. They spread out to search for any Inca insect swarm. Because they were 'cannon fodder', the predators were not afraid of any traps. Unfortunately, Lin did not find any traps or Inca swarms.

Strange, could it be that they all ran away after releasing the firestorm?

Lin's troops followed the Predators into the forest and headed south. Not far ahead, a huge Hometree stood tall in the forest. Lin had set that as her current target.

What was strange was that there were no Inca bugs attacking them along the way.

Looking at the towering Hometree, countless predators rushed up and climbed up along the bark, inspecting all the bark along the way. Around 20 meters above the tree, Lin found an entrance hidden under the bark that could be entered.

This tree … is empty?

The Predators brought some glowing lanterns with them as they entered the Hometree. Under the illumination of the lanterns, Lin found a vast space inside the tree. It was a huge hole, as if the insides of the tree had been hollowed out, leaving behind only a thick layer of bark.

It didn't take long for the Predators to finish exploring the entire tree. There was nothing inside, not even a single Black Wasp. However, at the top of the tree, Lin noticed that it wasn't made of wood, but a flat surface made of rock.

Indeed, the top of the Hometree was directly facing the ceiling of this underground world … could it be …

Lin suddenly understood how the troops on the surface came to be.

That's right, they were sent up by the Inca bugs from the underground Hometree. No wonder Lin's Flyer didn't notice anything strange.

Speaking of which, this place should be near the Hometree on land. Although the battle here was intense, the Inca bugs in the desert were still living their normal lives, as if they did not notice the war. Lin's Brain Hunter Flyer had been observing them, but they did not seem to be preparing for battle.

Of course, this might be an act, but who knows what they were secretly preparing? The Inca bugs' thoughts were very hard to predict.

However, what Lin was concerned about right now was, could this hollowed out Hometree reach the surface? If there were more passages, more troops could enter from the ground. Lin ordered the Predators to search the rock wall at the top of the tree hole. Although it looked completely flat, a few Predators found a small piece of rock with a diameter of more than 1 meter sunk in, and there were some cracks around it.

This was very suspicious, Lin knew that the Inca bugs had a habit of blocking passages.

The Predator pierced its claws into the crack and pushed it hard. With a sound, the crack was widened by the Predator.

Sure enough, there was a passage.

The Predators pushed again, and Lin discovered that there was a stone slab stuck in the crack. When the Predators pushed the stone slab away, a dark cave appeared in front of them.

The Predators quickly entered the cave. The cave was very narrow, only enough for one Predator to pass through at a time. Furthermore, it was a strange, crooked passage. After walking for a while, Lin saw light ahead.

This is … the surface? When the Predators rushed out of the exit, Lin once again saw the familiar scenery of the Twisted Jungle. The exit was a small hole in the mud, and beside the exit was the already dead Hometree.

Lin suddenly had a strange feeling. These two trees … could it be that they're connected?

But if that was the case, there would be two passages. Lin would be able to send more troops from the surface … wait, what is that?
