Kapitel 94: Chapter 94

 "Gah!"

The beetle that was hit by the armor-piercing projectile let out a painful roar. The projectile had pierced halfway through its scales, but it would only cause pain and not kill the target.

Oh, I forgot to apply poison on it … But the penetrative power of the projectile isn't enough. I need to adjust it.

The beetle's roar resonated with the other beetles nearby. They began to charge around madly, slamming their heads into the tree trunks at the edge of the clearing. The twisted tree trunks trembled under the impact, and many small creatures fell from the trees above.

What are they doing? Going crazy?

Lin looked at the group of creatures curiously. The Hunters had already retreated into the forest with the sniper, so there was no need to worry about being hit by them … Wait!

Lin noticed that the largest beetle didn't run around. Instead, it raised its head and waved its tentacles in the air. Finally, it turned its head in the direction where Lin's troops were hiding.

"Goo …"

The beetle let out a low growl, and the next moment, all the other beetles turned in that direction.

Their sense of smell is quite good.

"Woo!"

The beetles roared in unison and charged in that direction. Their target was obviously the Hunter carrying the sniper. Lin ordered it to immediately turn around and flee into the depths of the forest, while the rest of the troops continued to hide in the trees.

All the beetles followed closely behind the fleeing Hunter. Their huge bodies shook the ground as they rushed through the forest, leaving behind trampled branches and mud. They all rushed into the forest and disappeared without a trace.

They were all lured away so easily?

Lin's remaining troops entered the clearing. This place was full of ferns, and it was suitable for Lin to use her Green Carpet. There were no trees here, so the Green Carpet could grow.

The three Hive Carriers walked to the center of the fern field. Lin let them stay close to each other, then released all the Berserk Bees in her body. All the Berserk Bees surrounded the three Hive Carriers in a circle. Then, the Berserk Bees began to secrete a chitin substance on both sides of their bodies, gluing each other together and finally forming a sphere covered in a shell.

At this point, the hive carriers inside began to dissolve themselves into liquid form, reassembling themselves inside the shell to finally form a unique organ — — a base, used to produce troops and green carpets. This could be considered Lin's second base in the forest.

Although Lin had many different types of troops, none of them were fixed. Lin could change their forms and functions at will, but this needed to be done in water, so Lin had to first create a sealed sphere.

However, this sphere was not completely sealed. There was a small opening on top because the transformation required more nutrients and water. Now, the other hunters began to harvest the ferns in the field. They chewed the soft plants into juice and poured it into the sphere.

She didn't know if the Scaled Beetles would come back. Now that the escaped Hunter had shaken them off, Lin needed to quickly expand her base to have the ability to defend against them.

The construction of the base lasted until nightfall. Lin did not see the beetles again. They might have gone somewhere else, but that was good. Otherwise, it would be troublesome to chase them away or kill them.

In the forest clearing at night, she could clearly see the starry sky above. Lin thought that the flickering light was her future goal, but she didn't know what was up there …

She remembered that the first time she came to land, she was quite disappointed … At that time, there was only a desert and deadly ultraviolet rays, but now there was such a huge community of creatures.

While Lin was reminiscing about the past, the base's transformation had been completed. After absorbing a large amount of nutrients from the ferns, the base in the center was now a two-meter-high sphere. There were many kinds of toxins in the ferns, but Lin could decompose them and use them to cover the surface of the base for defense.

Now, it was time to create some troops. After the base had a safe defense, she could extend the green carpets.

Lin planned to first create some snipers and deploy them in the surrounding forest, so that she could observe if any creatures were approaching.

The hunters surrounded the base and climbed the newly created snipers on the tree trunks in the surrounding forest, placing them about ten meters high, while some snipers were directly placed in the ferns on the ground.

When the hunters placed the tenth sniper near the base, Lin suddenly heard a strange sound.

In the forest, there was a vibration of a large number of creatures running.

It was the Scaled Beetles! They were back!

With the sound of countless shocking footsteps, countless huge figures appeared in the twisted forest. They quickly swung their six thick limbs and charged into the open space in the forest.

Then … they lowered their heads to eat the ferns.

They obviously didn't notice the addition of Lin's base, nor did they notice the hidden snipers and hunters.

However, if she didn't chase them away, it would be troublesome.

But it would be difficult to fight so many huge creatures.

While Lin was a little worried, she heard a strange sound again.

And this one … came from the sky?

Eyeball tentacles stretched out from the base, and under the flickering starry sky, a huge black shadow appeared.

This is … a flying creature?

This black shadow had four huge leaf-shaped wings, which could reach up to twenty meters wide when stretched out. Every time it flapped its wings, it would stir up a strong airflow, blowing the moss on the ground to pieces.

The scaly beetles raised their heads one after another. They looked at the huge flying creature and slowly retreated.

There was actually such a huge flying creature? Could it be that this creature had no way of entering the complex Twisted Forest, so it appeared here?

Lanterns stretched out from the base, and the light shone on the huge creature. Lin noticed that although its wings were huge, the body in the center of the wings was relatively small, about two meters wide and five meters long.

The flying creature had three tentacles curled together in its mouth, and the tentacles were full of serrated teeth. It used its huge eyeball to look at the Scaled Beetles in the open space.

Suddenly, it flapped its wings and accelerated, rushing towards the nearest Scaled Beetle. It used its hooked appendages to grab the beetle, then used its serrated tentacles to cut the gap between the Scaled Beetle's scales, and a large amount of blood gushed out like a torrent.

The other Scaled Beetles quickly fled into the forest, completely ignoring their companion.

But Lin didn't run away. The moment she saw it, she decided that the giant flying creature she was going to create would be based on this creature's size.

This flying creature was going to be called a 'sawfly'. Although it didn't look like a dragonfly, the shape of its wings was more like a creature called a 'butterfly' in Lin's imagination, although Lin had never seen a butterfly before.

The sawfly was sucking the blood of the scaled beetle with its tentacles. It didn't notice that a sniper in the bracken next to it was aiming at its eyeball.

Fire!

The high-speed bullet pierced the sawfly's eyeball in an instant. The sawfly's huge body shook violently, and it flapped its wings in an attempt to fly.

At that moment, a few more spikes shot towards its abdomen. The sawfly didn't notice the rapid ambush in the dark. A large number of spikes pierced through its abdomen, and blood flowed out from the wound …

Although the sawfly was huge, its shell was really thin, similar to the skin of a reptile.

But thanks to its huge body, the sawfly didn't fall even after receiving a series of sniper attacks. Instead, it flapped its wings vigorously and soared into the sky. Its huge wings gave it a strong lift, and before the sniper could prepare another round of ammunition, it had already flown out of the sniper's range.

However, Lin had always liked to pack some strange gadgets in her ammunition, and this time was no exception.

Boom!

The sawfly's abdomen suddenly exploded. Blood, flesh, and all kinds of organs scattered under the starlight. The sawfly's huge body fell from the sky and landed heavily on the ground, crushing a large number of ferns.

Looking at this scene, Lin had a strange feeling. It was like … she was in a good mood, but it wasn't the same as the feeling of accomplishment from defeating a strong opponent. Right, it was like seeing something interesting.

'Art.' This word appeared in Lin's mind again.
