Kapitel 80: Chapter 80

The creature in front of her had four thick limbs and looked like a salamander, but its body was covered in a layer of fish-like scales, and its mouth was slightly open to reveal a large number of sharp teeth.

'Reptile'?

That word popped up in Lin's mind. Why does this name sound so boring? There are so many creatures that can crawl, why is this the only one called a reptile?

Although this reptile looked very fierce, its size disappointed Lin. It was only about 30 centimeters long, and that was including its tail that was almost as long as its body.

The reptile didn't approach the puddle, instead, it stood at a distance and looked at the Leviathan. Lin only moved her tentacles slightly, and it instantly turned around and fled.

You want to run?

Lin didn't plan to only attack the larger creatures and not the smaller ones. She planned to kill every creature here at least once to establish her position.

The Leviathan released a unit that was also 30 centimeters long. This was an experimental unit. Compared to the water spraying system, Lin installed a multi-directional air spraying system on it. It could inhale a large amount of air from its head, compress it with its muscles, and then expel the compressed air from its nostrils. It also had six appendages to help it run.

Lin had done a lot of calculations to create this system, and she believed that it was perfect.

However, whether it could run fast or not was still unknown.

This was the new Vanguard. Just like the previous one, it had a conical horn full of barbs on its head to pierce through its opponent.

Lin placed the Vanguard on the ground. Its system instantly activated and it abruptly charged forward!

That's pretty fast.

Lin paid close attention to the Vanguard's field of vision. The spires around them were quickly retreating, and the reptile that had escaped earlier had already appeared in front of the Vanguard.

The reptile turned around to look, then it quickly moved its limbs to run away, but Lin's Vanguard still followed closely behind. Relying on the air spraying system, the Vanguard was getting closer and closer to the reptile. Lin didn't think that the reptile's scales could stop the Vanguard's horn. As long as it caught up, it could easily pierce through it.

The Vanguard was getting faster and faster. Lin felt as if it was rushing through water. Just as it was about to reach its target, the reptile suddenly swung its tail to the left and ran into the gap between two spires.

Lin immediately twisted the Vanguard's body to the left and closed the nostrils on its tail. At the same time, she opened the nostrils on the right side of its body to stop its body from rushing out. After a successful turn, she opened the nostrils on its tail again and continued to pursue the reptile.

The distance between them was slightly widened. This way of turning was already able to minimize the excess distance due to the high speed, but it was still a little less flexible than running completely on his legs.

However, the distance between them was almost negligible. The vanguard quickly closed in on the reptiles that were sprinting.

The reptile made a few more turns during the chase in the forest. However, the Vanguard's movements were more nimble each time. Lin could even predict when the reptile would make a turn.

In the end, the reptile turned into a dead end. In front of it were three sharp pillars, and behind it was the Vanguard that was rushing towards it...

The Vanguard did not have time to react. The Vanguard's horn pierced through the scales on its back, and the tip of the horn pierced through the reptile's chest.

The reptile stopped struggling, but the Vanguard did not have the ability to eat. It needed Leviathan to walk to the kill site.

Lin Sanjiu felt that something was wrong. This time, the reptile did not run too far away. If it ran too far away, the prey that Lin Sanjiu finally caught up with might be snatched away.

Lin Sanjiu had to install a structure that could digest food for the Vanguard.

Leviathan walked to the kill site and released the Collector to decompose the reptile.

The reptile's organs were very similar to those of salamanders. This creature probably evolved from salamanders. They used hard scales to prevent their skin from leaking. However, they had a new type of interesting organ in their body. It looked like an air sac with some tubes connected to a small hole in the head. It could contract to absorb oxygen.

This organ seemed to be called 'lungs'.

Lin's air sac also had the ability to contract, but it was not as complicated as this one. There were also many net-like structures inside the 'lungs', but Lin Sanjiu did not know what they were for.

This kind of organ was suitable for absorbing large amounts of oxygen, but there was plenty of oxygen now, so Lin Sanjiu felt that it was useless.

After eating the reptile, Lin Sanjiu recalled the Vanguard and the Collector and continued to walk in a random direction.

I wonder what kind of creature I will encounter next? No matter what it is, even the worms from before, Lin Sanjiu was ready to fight. However, whether she would win or not would only be known after the battle.

Leviathan walked through the forest of spires. The temperature here had always been cool, but Lin Sanjiu felt a sudden heatwave. It blew through the forest along with the airflow, raising the surrounding temperature by quite a bit.

Could the heat of the ocean have affected this place? … No, this heatwave came from the opposite direction of the ocean.

Leviathan quickly walked in the direction of the heatwave. After passing through a wall of spires, Lin Sanjiu arrived at a wide area.

In Lin Sanjiu's field of vision was an endless expanse of yellow sand. This place was just like the land 100 million years ago … There was no water, no living creatures, only sand and sand fluttering in the wind and endless desert …

From the looks of it, the forest of spires was not very large. Did the plants not extend deeper into the land? Perhaps the fog could not travel too far, or some other reason.

Lin Sanjiu looked behind her. The row of spires was like a giant wall that cut through the desert and the forest of spires. This made Lin Sanjiu suspect that these spires might not be ordinary stones.

Lin Sanjiu felt a little regretful. She thought that she would be able to see a land filled with living creatures, but she did not expect to see the same scene from 100 million years ago …

Just as Leviathan was about to turn around and leave, a voice suddenly entered Lin Sanjiu's mind.

The eyeball tentacle looked towards the direction of the voice. Above the forest of spires, two creatures suddenly flew past and headed towards the desert at an extremely fast speed.

Flying creatures!

Lin Sanjiu immediately released the Vanguard. Although Leviathan's speed could not catch up to these creatures, the Vanguard could. It followed the two creatures at an extremely fast speed while Leviathan followed behind at a slower speed.

In order to see the environment clearly while moving at high speed, the Vanguard's eyeball was specially modified. It could capture a lot of images in an instant. It could clearly see the shape of the two creatures in the air.

The two creatures had slender bodies, about a meter long. They had a thick chest and three pairs of arthropods. The eyeballs on their heads were quite large. The most obvious thing about them was the four transparent, flat structures on both sides of their bodies. They seemed to rely on these to fly, unlike jellyfish.

These creatures were called 'Giant Vein Dragonflies'. It felt like a pretty good name, much cooler than 'reptiles'.

The Vanguard followed the dragonflies while studying their structure. Lin Sanjiu now had the idea of making her own, so it did not have to catch them.

Lin Sanjiu was also very interested to see where they would fly to. Did these creatures always live in the air? Or would they land on the ground? There were quite a lot of sea creatures that never got close to the bottom of the sea.

The Vanguard followed the dragonflies for a while in the desert. After crossing a sand dune, Lin Sanjiu saw their target.

That was …

Below the sand dune, there was a large sandpit where many dragonflies gathered. In the center of the sandpit, there was a huge creature.

The creature looked like a Bloondo scorpion. Its forelimbs were pincers, and it had eight legs, but its body was huge. It was more than three meters long, and its tail did not have a hook. Its armor seemed to have been damaged by something, and it was full of cracks. The Giant Vein Dragonflies flew around it, and from time to time, they would rush down to attack the cracks in its armor and devour the blood that flowed out.

Lin temporarily called it the 'Desert Scorpion'. The Desert Scorpion waved its pincers, but it could not catch the speedy dragonflies. If this continued, it would die.
