Kapitel 145: Sudden Reversal

"Chase them down! Don't let a single one escape! Send a signal to the hidden strike force to start the pincer attack!"

The enemy general excitedly said.

This was the moment that they'd been waiting for.

He believed that the Rougenfort Kingdom wouldn't have another Swordmaster to defend Blasridge City so it would only be a matter of time before they captured the city.

Finally, after more than two weeks of intense battle, their trump card, General Gunther's hidden strike force, arrived.

Blanc calmly ordered his men to retreat to the walls while repelling the occasional attacks from the enemy Swordmasters.

Fortunately, they didn't lose too many men while retreating.

After around half, Blanc and his men had successfully reassembled in formation inside Fort Shadowsong, ready to fight down to the last man.

Meanwhile, the Samara-Kairuku Coalition Army has successfully entered through the breach in the wall with the hidden strike force closing in right beside the coalition army.

A Swordmaster from the coalition army named Erwin who seems to be a close friend of General Gunther walked towards the strike force to congratulate them on a job well done.

"Hahahaha! Amazing work as always, Gunther! Thanks to you, we managed to tak–"

*SPURT*

Erwin's head suddenly separated from his body, which left the entire Samara-Kairuku Coalition Army frozen in place.

"CHARGE!!"

While the Samara-Kairuku Coalition Army was still in a state of confusion and chaos, Blanc suddenly ordered all of his men to charge forward.

"G-Gunther?! Are you rebelling?!"

The enemy general said in a panicked voice, he still couldn't comprehend what was happening.

Half an hour ago, they were victoriously marching into the fort to wipe out the Rougenfortians but then, General Gunther, who was supposed to be leading their trump card strike force, suddenly killed one of their Swordmasters.

In addition to this, the Rougenfortians suddenly attacked when they were still confused about what happened to the Samaran strike force.

However, everything finally became clear once "General Gunther" spoke.

"Do I look like a General Gunther to you?"

Leif said as he suddenly charged towards another Swordmaster to try and catch him off guard. Unfortunately, the enemy Swordmaster managed to block Leif's attack.

After seeing the unfamiliar face of this "General Gunther", the general of the coalition army immediately realized what happened.

"So that's what happened! Gunther's hidden strike force wasn't able to take down the city and these guys were in cahoots even before the fake strike force arrived!"

"It's a trap! They lured us inside the fort to catch one Swordmaster off-guard and wipe us out in one fell swoop!"

The general muttered to himself as he gnashed his teeth and clenched his fists in anger. He wanted to call for a retreat but the breach in the wall was too small and it would be impossible to retreat in an orderly manner.

Since it would be impossible for them to all escape anyway, the general decisively called for an all-out war.

The enemy had four Swordmasters and one Ranger while they still had six Swordmasters. Logically, they should still have the lead so he decided to risk it all rather than retreat in an unsightly manner.

However, deep down, he knew that they were at a disadvantage, they'd already been caught deep into the enemy's trap and there was no way for them to escape without severe losses.

After Leif joined the skirmish, it simply became a one-sided massacre. They had no way to defeat Leif in a one-on-one duel and they had no choice but to assign three Swordmasters to fight against Helena, any less than that would simply be suicide.

As expected, in just fifteen minutes, Leif, Blanc, and Alexander had slain their opponents forcing the last three Swordmasters who were fighting Helena to flee and this includes the enemy general.

"Shit! Shit! Shit! I can't believe we actually lost! Who the fuck are these guys?! I have to at least find a way to make sure that King Kairuku would know how strong these guys are!"

The remaining three Swordmasters fled with their tails between their legs. All three of them were already wounded due to being chased down by Eden and his arrows.

Of course, Blanc and the other Swordmasters were right behind them giving chase as well.

After seeing the pathetic state of their military leaders, the morale of the entire coalition army crumbled as they fled in a chaotic manner like a bunch of bandits.

Due to this, they were slaughtered like livestock.

While desperately retreating, one of the remaining Swordmasters failed to dodge Eden's arrow in time. A huge chunk of flesh was torn out from his neck and he fell down to the ground, dead.

"Hiiih!"

Even the general started panicking after seeing that they were down to only two men and they still hadn't even escaped from the fort.

He started to regret some of the conservative decisions he made during the first fourteen days. If only he attacked a bit more aggressively and willingly engaged in the skirmishes, they might have a chance to turn this around.

However, there was no medicine for regret, and they had no choice but to continue fleeing for their lives.
