In the middle of July, Pethkids was stiflingly hot.
It was midday, the hottest time of the day, and the air was filled with heat, capable of cooking an egg on the tarred road instantly.
As the largest dockyard in Pethkids, Blonu Pier saw many merchant ships unloading goods every day. The dock workers were always busy, and the towering cranes, against the backdrop of the blue sky and white clouds, were indeed a spectacular sight.
However, today, Blonu Pier seemed unusually quiet, with no workers to be seen.
Instead, there were several sedans parked on the dockyard square, each of them costly.
Anderson Spinter, a security guard at the dockyard, had holed up in a small room, carefully peering out through a window.
This here was the security guards' round-the-clock workstation, situated on the top floor of a three-story tower on the shore, providing a comprehensive view of the entire dockyard.
