Kapitel 101: Hurried Exit
"Don't do it!" Bian shouted to Hope Spirit. She looked at him, her eyes filled with hope once more. Bian gave a nod, and she reciprocated.
She knelt in front of Yi Dongmu. "I Hope Spirit am willing to be the most faithful of servants."
Yi Dongmu smiled coldly. A Knight spirit was a great boon to have early on, especially as you moved up the sanctuaries and the difficulty sky rocketed. He placed the spirit stone in her forehead and she turned to a beam of light and faded into his sea of soul.
Bian was incredibly pissed off, he blamed himself for what just happened and felt extremely bad. He managed to calm himself before facing Yi Dongmu.
"I want that spirit." Bian said coldly to Yi Dongmu.
"I don't think so. I claimed her, so she is mine." Yi Dongmu said freely. Hope Spirit now belonged to him and so did her pets including the mutant knight.
Bian had no idea how Yi Dongmu had managed to slip past the knight or get into the shelter but he couldn't care less at the moment. He managed to digest his anger one more time and speak reasonably.
Summoning the Stone Armor, Shield and Spear he said, "I am willing to trade with this mutant armor, mutant spear and mutant shield." He made sure to add mutant to the front of each word to make it sound more appealing.
If Bian wasn't sure that someone like Yi Dongmu had his methods to overcome torture he would have been breaking his fingers by now. He needed to be calm and collected about his actions. He was angry, but he suppressed his anger.
Yi Dongmu was surprised by Bian's actions. Had he fallen in love with the spirit or was she more valuable than a mutant armor, shield and spear. Although the knight spirit would be helpful, the armor, spear and shield would be even more useful especially against the retaliation he was about to face from Love and Faith shelter. With the Armor alone, his life would be guaranteed and he could slowly make a comeback.
He eyed Bian suspiciously and asked, "Why is this spirit so valuable to you?" If he could still earn more benefits he wouldn't mind.
"She was a friend, I was also the one who convinced her to allow humans back into the sanctuary." Bian said through gritted teeth, his patience was running low, very low.
Yi Dongmu laughed after he heard this, it seemed as though Bian held sentimental value for the spirit which was more precious than any benefit he could offer. This meant he could increase the price of her exchange wantonly.
Even if Bian was enraged, he had the mutant Knight to protect him and several other creatures. More importantly, he could threaten Bian with Hope spirit's life.
"Alright, I want everything you have on as well as a hundred ordinary beast souls" Yi Dongmu said before walking to leave. In the next second, an arm held grabbed him by the shoulder like an iron grip, bloodlust circled around him like the scythe of the grim reaper.
"I will give you twenty ordinary beast souls and five primitive beast souls, plus the mutant set." Bian was no longer bargaining and set the price for Yi Dongmu.
Yi Dongmu felt things were getting out of hand. He couldn't understand how a human could side with a spirit, and it disgusted him. Although he would have love to extort more from Bian, he shrugged off the hand holding his shoulder and accepted the deal.
"Fine, but you transfer the beast souls to me first." Yi Dongmu said coldly.
Bian had allowed Yi Dongmu to shake off his hand, if not, only a sacred-blood creature could loosen his grip. He transferred twenty ordinary, five primitive and three mutant beast souls to Yi Dongmu. As for if he would go back on his deal, Bian was actually looking forward to that.
"You really are an idiot." Yi Dongmu said, he transferred Hope Spirit to Bian after he had taken ownership of all her beast soul pets. Then he went to prepare the Humans for a counter attack against the spirits.
Bian Immediately summoned Hope Spirit and gave her a hug.
"I am sorry, because of me.."
She pressed a finger against his lip, "Its okay, it was my own decision in the end. We should leave the shelter quickly, my siblings wouldn't be happy and might even try to kill me since I have yielded to a human."
"I guess this means the whole human-spirit treaty is over?" Bian asked.
"Finished before it even started, how sad." Hope spirit said, her voice was filled with pain.
"Can't I just kill Yi Dongmu and use his head to appeal?" Bian murmured.
"That won't work, it won't change the fact that I am no longer immortal. We should leave, I don't want to be here anymore." Hope spirit said.
Bian released her from his embrace and was about to leave, but in the next second she dragged him back.
"Let me take some things." Hope spirit led Bian to a room in the Spirit Hall. She pushed in three sections of the smooth wall, causing a locking mechanism to turn.
She led Bian through a passageway to an underground garden with a variety of geno plants growing.
"These are mutant geno trees I have been nurturing for several years." Hope spirit took in a deep breath and said.
"My element is the wood element, but my powers a bit unique. I can speed up the absorption rate of geno plants. You are the second person I have told about this."
Bian counted twenty plants, they were decades away from maturing ranging from twelve to sixty years. There was a special geno plant at the center of the garden, he was shocked to find out that it was actually a sacred blood plant and was a hundred and ten years away from maturing. For a sacred-blood tree that took thousands of years to mature, one that required a little bit above a hundred years was quite hard to find.
"How about the sacred-blood tree in the middle?" Bian couldn't help but ask.
"I have been nurturing it for thousands of years. Once its fruits mature, I would be pushed to the edge of aristocracy and might even have a chance of advancing to royalty in one go. Sadly, this incident has occurred."
"I understand that we cannot carry away all the geno plants, Help me destroy some while we carry the rest." Hope spirit was sad having to destroy the plants she had tended to privately for so many years. She did not want other spirits to find out about her powers.
"I also have a secret method I have not told anyone about. I can steal the life force of geno trees and transfer them to other geno trees. Although the amount they can absorb is fixed." Bian stepped in front of the sacred-blood geno tree and took a few life water drops from it.
He now had over thirty water drops which was more than enough for him to move all the geno plants in the garden. Looking at her shocked face, Bian smiled for a bit before he called out to her.
"Do you have a place we can run too."
"There is somewhere my sister used to reside in No Man's forest but it is not easy to find." Hope spirit said after some thought. Bian asked some more questions, and found that the tunnels Hope spirit had dug was some meters away from the garden.
He used his fingers to effortlessly dig out the soil, creating a large cavity that would lead to the tunnel Hope spirit used to arrive at No Man's Forest. He stopped digging and thought about how it exposed the garden.
They would have to move every geno plant here in one go, Bian was not willing to sacrifice even a single one.
He still had three beast souls including the berserk mutant blade and the Stone Devil Beast glyph, he wouldn't trade those two if he didn't have to. Bian looked at Hope spirit and decided not to leave her behind.
"Give me a few minutes to prepare." Bian's mind went into overdrive. He couldn't notice but the soul pillar, which was wreathed in a myriad of colorful lightning, sped up a little bit.
'I need something I can use to trade.'
He sent Hope Spirit back to his sea of soul, then used Terraslip to quickly navigate through the shelter, he pooped up in front of the tree Yi Dongmu had been tending to and placed a waterdrop on it. After a few seconds, the primitive curving daggers fell from the tree and it quickly withered.
Bian picked up all the curved daggers, strapping them to his body, which made his movements awkward. He slipped into the ground once more in search of Okka. He found him quite easily using the dongxuan aura, and popped up in front of him startling the poor merchant.
"You haven't left the shelter?"
"That Yi Dongmu fellow is quite ruthless, killing everyone who steps foot out of the shelter. He allowed us to continue about with our business but demands twenty percent of our profit as task." Okka had a wry smile on his face as he explained.
Bian brought out the primitive daggers and traded everything for useful items. He bought five Bone Tamus, over a hundred of the same item called Scent Eraser and ten long ropes made from snake skin with good durability. Most of the blades were traded for the Scent Erasers which weren't cheap.
Bian slipped into the ground just like he had appeared greatly startling Okka once more, he navigated through the ground using Dongxuan Aura and appeared back in the garden. Summoning Hope spirit, he asked for her help in uprooting the trees.
"The lifeforce I give the plants can keep their vitality up for a day, without the threat of them dying." If he ran out of water drops, he planned to borrow some more from the sacred blood tree.
He could have drained all the lifeforce from the plants in the shelter, but Bian had to consider the welfare of the other humans here. Since Yi Dongmu had decided to lead them, he would leave them with what they had. 'Although I am angry, I am not a monster.'
Bian placed a single drop on the sacred-blood tree and tied it to the back of a Bone Tamus, fastening it with two snake skin ropes.. With the aid of Hope Spirit, they uprooted all twenty geno plants and tied them in groups of five to the Bone Tamus using two snake skin ropes.
Four of the Bone Tamus were loaded with five mutant geno plants of different sizes while the Fifth Bone Tamus was carrying a large tree on its back. This Bone Tamus were really strong, and the heavy load they were burdened with only slowed them down a bit.
Bian completely collapsed the cavity in the walls. He asked Hope Spirit if there was anything else, to which she responded with the black katana. Bian hurriedly retrieved it from where she placed it and they were soon set to go.
"It's for the best we leave in a hurry." Hope spirit said, supporting Bian's actions. Her siblings would try to kill her once they found out she submitted to a human. It was just the way spirits were, her mother might even get involved.
One thing was for certain though, they would probably start treating humans like slaves in their shelters also. Humans had just lost their last chance to cooperate with spirits on a large scale.
Bian, Hope spirit and the five Bone Tamus sojourned into the dark tunnels and began their travels.
