Kapitel 480: Dead

"I mean, you're really rude, you know? I'm still a goddess, okay? Can't you just show a bit of respect?"

Ishtar complained incessantly to Arkhan on the way back to Uruk.

"I just wanted you to kiss the soles of my feet, and you outright refused without even thinking about it. You've really hurt this goddess's feelings. Do you know how many people would kill for such an opportunity?"

Unfortunately, no matter what she said, Arkhan remained unmoved, acting like he couldn't hear her.

Him, respecting a god? If he did, he wouldn't have the 'God-Slayer' skill as a Heroic Spirit.

"What a boring man..."

Ishtar muttered to herself, at this point even feeling a bit nostalgic for Gilgamesh.

At least that golden-haired guy could argue with her and have a spat. Anything would be more interesting than this black-haired guy who was as lively as a rock.

However, they had to do something to pass the time on this long journey, right?

As Ishtar's eyes moved around, she suddenly spoke up.

"Human, do you know who the enemies facing Uruk really are?"

"My name's Arkhan." Arkhan responded without even looking at her. "And as for these so-called enemies you said, you mean the Three Goddess Alliance?"

"Exactly! Seems like your information isn't completely shut off, huh..."

Ishtar crossed her arms and began to explain.

"Within the Three Goddess Alliance, there's a goddess known as the Goddess of Demonic Beasts. It's she who births and controls those demonic beasts attacking the lands of Uruk. And by some stroke of luck, I happen to know one of her secrets."

"So, if you're willing to kiss my feet right now and pledge loyalty to me, then I'll share this precious secret with you."

After saying that, Ishtar's face lit up with a smug smile.

She was sure this man couldn't refuse such a proposition. After all, this was a secret related to gods.

How could a mortal resist such temptation?

"You're talking about the secret that the true identity of the Goddess of Demonic Beasts is actually Gorgon?" Arkhan responded casually.

"Yeah—Wait, you knew already?!" Ishtar was startled.

"Yeah, I've seen the Goddess of Demonic Beasts with my own eyes before." Arkhan continued.

"Really?" Ishtar's mouth twitched slightly. "You're quite lucky to escape from her... Her Mystic Eyes are terrifying, though, of course, in front of Goddess Ishtar, those tricks are nothing—"

"Yeah, the Goddess of Demonic Beasts is dead. I killed her." Arkhan interrupted her calmly.

"Oh, is that so..." Ishtar nodded unconsciously, but then her voice suddenly spiked. "What did you say?!"

She dashed up to Arkhan, gripping his shoulders tightly, her eyes widened like copper bells.

"Y-You killed the Goddess of Demonic Beasts?! Are you serious?! You must be joking, right?!"

"I have no reason to joke about something like this." Arkhan brushed off her hands. "If you don't believe me, you can go to the front lines and see for yourself. The demonic beast horde there has retreated. That's the best proof of her death."

Immediately, Ishtar circled around Arkhan, sniffing delicately with her dainty nose.

"It really is the Goddess of Demonic Beasts' scent... I can't believe I didn't notice it earlier..."

Ishtar muttered to herself before chuckling self-deprecatingly.

"A mortal killing a god? I never thought I'd encounter something like that one day—No, wait a minute, something's not right..."

Ishtar leaned in to sniff Arkhan again with a look of skepticism in her eyes.

"There's another divine scent on you."

"It must be from Quetzalcoatl." Arkhan said calmly. "Coincidentally, I've met her too."

"You... didn't kill her too, did you?"

For some reason, a chill ran down Ishtar's spine as she asked that.

"No, that goddess didn't intend to destroy humanity, so we just had a casual fight." Arkhan shook his head. "Moreover, she is on Uruk's side now."

Upon hearing his words, a scene flashed through Ishtar's mind—Arkhan relentlessly punching Quetzalcoatl's face without mercy, laughing maliciously as he did so.

'Wait, on Uruk's side? Did he mean... that goddess joined Uruk now?'

As she thought that, Ishtar couldn't help but shiver, believing that Arkhan was someone who killed those who wanted to destroy humanity and fought those who didn't until they agreed to join his side.

'This guy seems gentle on the surface, but he turns out to be so violent!'

For a moment, Ishtar couldn't help but be glad she agreed quickly to his request earlier. If it had been later, she would be the next Quetzalcoatl!

However, she was still a goddess of Uruk, so he shouldn't use such violent means against her, should he?

'He won't... right...?'

As Ishtar was lost in her thoughts, Arkhan suddenly spoke up.

"Speaking of secrets, I happen to know one related to you. Wanna hear it?"

"A secret related to me?" Ishtar blinked her eyes, then waved her hand dismissively. "Don't joke around. I know my own secrets, and besides, you're just a mortal—"

"Ereshkigal, the Goddess of the Underworld..." Arkhan gazed calmly at her crimson eyes. "She has also descended alongside you."

"Wait, wait, wait! Ereshkigal? She's here too?!" Ishtar's eyes widened in disbelief. "How is that even possible? Shouldn't I be the only one among the Mesopotamian gods who existed in this era? What's going on?"

"It's quite normal."

Arkhan replied calmly, observing the shocked Ishtar.

"In Sumerian mythology, you are the Mistress of Heaven, representing human life, while Ereshkigal is the Mistress of the Underworld, representing human death. You two are complementary, two sides of the same pillar, sharing the same divinity. So naturally, when you were summoned, Ereshkigal would also follow you."

"Wait a minute, are you saying that she could possess my body and appear?" Ishtar couldn't help but shudder at the thought. "That's just awful..."

"Ereshkigal is the final pillar of the Three Goddesses Alliance." Arkhan looked up at the sky. "And she's my next target."

"So, what do you plan to do to her?" Ishtar asked curiously.

"What do you think I should do?" Arkhan countered. "You're quite familiar with her. Do you think she could become our ally?"

"Well..." Ishtar hesitated for a moment before continuing. "Although she's cold, aloof, malicious, foul-tempered, and not exactly pleasing to the eyes, if we could have a conversation with her, maybe it wouldn't be impossible to convince her to join our side..."

Upon hearing her words, Arkhan chuckled without saying a word.

Finally, after three days, Arkhan returned to the city of Uruk with Ishtar.

However, what he didn't expect was to hear shocking news as soon as he arrived.

Gilgamesh was dead!
