Kapitel 138: Ch. 138: Frieza's Second Victim

Krillin couldn't help stumbling backwards as a sadistic glint shone in Frieza's eye. "Well?"

"I-I uhh..." Krillin didn't know what to say. All he wanted to do was leave. He wanted to leave badly.

Ignoring Krillin's response, Frieza created an energy orb roughly the size of a volleyball in his hand. "This energy ball is small, yes, but I filled it with just enough energy to eradicate you from existence. The game is simple, you dodge the ball, you live!"

What followed was the most hellish game of dodgeball that Krillin would ever play. "It's... like... there's... ten... of him!" Krillin shouted as he desperately dodged the energy ball as Frieza batted it at him lazily, then disappeared, leaving an afterimage in his place. Pretty soon, the ball had gotten up to speeds too fast for Krillin to even see it, and he was surrounded by ten Friezas at once.

"Kaio-ken!" Krillin used the Kaio-ken to keep himself alive. Actually, it would have been an incredible training exercise if it wasn't for the imminent threat of death. He rapidly adjusted to the technique, growing stronger and stronger as he got used to the excess energy in his system at a pace that put even Goku's to shame. "Times Two!" As the ball's speed caught up to Krillin's Kaio-ken enhanced speed, he desperately tried to jump to a double, but accidentally pushed his Kaio-ken up to around a times five instead. Energy exploded out of him as a thick mist as his power level temporarily surged to over 500,000. Time seemed to have stopped, but Frieza and his dodgeball didn't. Instead, the tyrant sped up once again. Feeling his body begin to give out, Krillin made a desperate decision. "Solar Flare!"

BOOM!

When Frieza lost sight of Krillin, he'd also lost sight of his 'dodgeball' and reflexively kicked it at the ground nearby, causing it to explode and create a crater that seemed to span all the way down to the pits of hell. By now, Namek was absolutely dotted with these craters...

As for Krillin, he'd attempted to use the time to run, but Frieza had seen his Solar Flare, too. He'd been expecting the six-starred human to use it since the dodgeball game began, so he'd managed to cover his eyes just in time. Other than the ball, he'd been completely unaffected. He appeared in front of the bald human once again, this time grabbing him with a telekinetic hold.

But just as he was about to begin physically torturing Krillin to death, a shout echoed through the frost demon's ears. "KRILLIN!"

Suddenly, the ground around Frieza and Krillin buckled, then exploded outward. "Let go of my friend, Frieza!" Goku shouted, emerging from the hole. There wasn't a scratch on him. He'd just gotten discombobulated underground after Frieza had shut him in the lake of lava. The edges of his Gi were blackened and frayed, but that was the only thing that would let on to the fact that he'd gone swimming in a lake of lava.

"Go-ku!" Krillin called out weakly. Using the Kaio-ken times five, especially on accident, had seriously messed up his body, which was bulging in strange places from the energy backlash. He'd survive, but he wasn't going to be moving by himself any time soon. He was totally at Frieza's mercy.

"Hmm. I don't see why not. I'll let him go. TO OTHERWORLD!"

BOOOMMM!!!!

Suddenly, a raging torrent of energy seemed to converge on Frieza's location, and the tyrant vanished from the spot, into a huge, Frieza-sized hole, taking Krillin with him. "KRILLIN!"

"HYAAHH!!!" Suddenly, the ground began to shake. A few moments later, a huge beam made of a mosaic of silver and red light erupted from the ground about ten miles out, piercing the heavens. Shortly thereafter, a rush of lava erupted from the hole that the beam had come out of, as a secondary explosion happened deep underground, causing lava spouts to erupt randomly from the ground as it shook. On the surface, it looked to Goku like some sort of cataclysmic event was just shredding the planet from the inside out, and that wasn't far from the truth.

...

"Aand... she's all better now!" Cargo said as his healing finished closing my wounds. Only a few moments later, I opened my eyes to see Piccolo, Nappa, Raditz, and Gohan staring down at me, along with a bunch of Namekians.

"Vegeta!" I immediately used my senses to catch myself up on what had happened with Frieza while I'd been unconscious, only to find Vegeta already dead, to my surprise. As Shay updated me on the situation, the Z-fighters around me nodded.

"He tried to fight Frieza alone." Piccolo said, "Brave, but stupid."

"Went out in a blaze of glory." Nappa chimed in with his two cents, sitting down with a shaken look on his face. He'd really cared for Vegeta.

"The planet's atmosphere won't be able to take many more big attacks like that." An old Namekian spoke up. I agreed with him, but Namek was already on its last legs regardless.

'Shay, this isn't my plan.' I couldn't help but mutter to my partner telepathically. Sure, my dad and Frieza were currently fighting one-on-one, and Vegeta's death could be accounted for, but something still seemed off to me. According to Shay, even if the planet managed to survive this battle, Frieza'd pierced the planet's outer core with some of his attacks. While that wasn't as bad as the inner core being destroyed like it'd been in the canon, it was still going to turn into a cataclysmic event over the course of a few weeks to months, spawning dozens of volcanoes all across the land, spreading ash into the sky and killing plant and animal life. Whether the Namekians would be able to survive all of that and rebuild was honestly a coin toss.

As Shay's report turned to the specifics of the battle, as well as the Girls' predictions of how it would turn out in the immediate future, my eyes went wide. "SILVER!" Unleashing my next seal, I rocketed my power level directly up to 25 million and blasted off toward the battle with a shout, controlling my energy so that the damage to the people around me due to my blasting off was mitigated, ignoring the protests of the Z-fighters around me.
