Kapitel 27: [] Chapter Twenty Five : Only hope

As I watched the massive skeletons inch closer, their towering figures casting an eerie shadow over our formation, a surge of tension gripped my chest. The rest of the team looked to me for guidance, their expressions a mix of determination and anxiety.

With the formation's height increased, I took a deep breath and activated my Dungeon Lord abilities. The water source beneath me surged, creating a powerful torrent that rushed toward the approaching giants. These skeletons, unlike their smaller counterparts, had no chance to create makeshift ladders or climb.

The towering figures stumbled and fell as the water pushed against them, disrupting their advance. But I knew this would only buy us time. The real challenge lay in dealing with the enormous skeletons themselves.

As we held the giants at bay, I also noticed that the number of smaller skeletons was increasing. It was a grim reminder that we couldn't afford to lose focus.

"Sparky, use your skill! And retreat to the king's layer," I commanded. "Aqua team, cast barriers!"

Sparky wasted no time and jumped into action, heading for the most crowded area of smaller skeletons while simultaneously casting her Hydro Blast and activating her shield skill for defense.

Her Hydro Blast skill sent a powerful torrent of water cascading over the skeletal horde, dealing significant damage to them. The force of the water knocked some off their feet and shattered others into pieces.

However, I couldn't let Sparky take on the entire horde alone. "Sparky, retreat," I called out as the giants continued to advance.

Meanwhile, the Aqua team worked in unison, casting their barrier spells. Layer by layer, they enveloped the king's layer with multiple shields, creating a protective fortress against the skeletal onslaught. It was a critical defensive move to safeguard our position.

But there was more to consider. I recalled the new variant of the blue slime and realized I had almost forgotten about her. However, her primary skill, water control, wouldn't be of much use at the moment.

"Emily," I began, "take the most powerful skill from one of those giants!"

Emily nodded and focused her attention on one of the fallen giant skeletons. With determination, she channeled her mimicry skill, which had proven invaluable before.

In an instant, Emily's form began to change as she absorbed the essence of the fallen skeleton's abilities. She grew larger, her body taking on a faintly translucent, spectral appearance. She had successfully mimicked the most potent skill from the giants.

With the giants roaring in frustration, their enormous swords swinging menacingly, I knew it was time to take the offensive. "Scarlet team, attack!" I commanded.

The three members of the Scarlet team nodded in unison and began conjuring their respective fireballs. Scarlet's fireball, enhanced to level 2, was notably larger than the others. She finished first and sent her fiery projectile hurtling toward the most crowded area of giant skeletons.

[Scarlet's skills]

•Fire Ball {Lv: 2}: Cast an enhanced Fire Ball that inflicts burning damage of 0.75 per second for 6 seconds and actual damage of 24.

•Time cast: Reduces casting speed by 50% permanently

The impact was explosive, and the ensuing fire engulfed the giants. They writhed in pain as their skeletal forms were consumed by flames.

The other two members of the Scarlet team followed suit, launching their fireballs at individual giants, knocking them off balance and dealing substantial damage.

But the battle wasn't over yet. I turned my attention to the two unnamed blue slimes who had gained new skills from the books.

"You both, show me what you've got!" I exclaimed, pointing toward them.

They nodded in unison, closing their eyes and channeling their newfound abilities.

The first blue slime conjured sharp water spears with Aqua Lance, using them as piercing melee weapons. With precision, the water spears struck at the legs and vulnerable joints of the giant skeletons, causing them to falter and lose their balance.

The second blue slime employed Iceberg Wall, freezing water to create a defensive ice barrier. As the giants swung their enormous swords, the ice wall absorbed the blows, protecting us on the king's layer.

{The two ordinary blue slimes' skills}

[]• Aqua Lance: Forming sharp water spears for piercing melee attacks.

Duration: None

•Iceberg wall: Freezing water to create a defensive ice wall.

Costs: 40% mana

Duration: None[]

Despite our efforts, there were still three giant skeletons left. Scarlet had one more powerful skill to use, but Emily, Violet, and Aqua had expended their skills.

"Scarlet, use your projectile skill," I commanded.

"Violet, see if you can use your skill on them," I instructed, turning to one of the unnamed blue slimes.

"Emily, do the same with your skill," I urged Emily.

The remaining three giants closed in, and I found myself constantly using my Dungeon Lord abilities to control the water source, pushing them away whenever they got too close.

The situation was tense, and our resources were running low. That's when it struck me - the quest was about survival, not necessarily defeating every foe. We needed to endure this onslaught.

"Sparky, retreat to the king's layer!" I called out. Immediately, I opened the Dungeon Lord function and demolished the formation. The Aqua team's barrier spells, still intact, fell around them.

"Aqua, get ready!" I shouted and quickly surrounded the barriers with layers of soil and water. Our only hope was to hunker down and survive whatever challenges lay ahead.
