Kapitel 42: The nervous knight

Michael took the list that was given to him and made his way out into the woods. He knew that Maxine was watching him and that had him unsettled. He waited for her to make an appearance, but as time went on and he went further into the forest, the more nervous he became. 

Maxine noticed the jumpy knight and smiled to herself. Some times being a vampire had its advantages. She had watched him keep guard over Evelyn for hours now and she had grown quite bored. She skillfully jumped from the trees and landed in front of him. Michael jumped back, startled by Maxine's sudden appearance. Maxine laughed out loud in his face. 

"You sure are jumpy for a knight," she chided.

"Anyone would have been startled!" He quipped.

Maxine tossed her head back in laughter. She had expected him to react, but this was a bit much, even for her. "Do you have a list for me?" She asked after she composed herself.
