The adrenaline I'd been depending on was dwindling. I scattered my gaze across the courtyard, taking in each wary set of eyes that tracked my movements as if I were a crazed animal intending to attack them. So many expressions. So many faces of the Glacier Province's royal family.

"Your Highness." The frigid voice froze me.

I turned slowly as King Guren descended the steps from where I'd come. Icy pale skin, the color of azaleas in winter, and charcoal-colored strands that had grown longer since I'd last seen him at the leader's conference.

King Guren's grey eyes fixed on me, his hands calmly folded to the front of him. "I was kind enough to welcome you into my home. Please be respectful and do not disturb my family. You're frightening everyone with your episode. What has come over you?"
