Songbirds chirped loudly, and my foot tickled.
With a harsh yawn, I opened lazy eyes to Ruith wiggling one of my toes. I blinked at him. It took me a moment to comprehend the scene. The soft and vast comforter was tangled around my body—which lay in the wrong direction on the bed—and my limbs stretched carelessly in each direction. Somehow, my left foot had climbed onto Ruith's chest, having been in his face possibly all night.
I shot up on the mattress, mortified. Ruith's eyes creased with amusement, and he chuckled fondly. "You're quite the adventurous sleeper."
I covered the red of my face and shook my head. "I am so sorry. I…I totally forgot how chaotic of a sleeper I could be. It's been a while since I've had the freedom to move around so much." The disease I'd once had had kept me confined to one space on the bed, where the cords and tubes of my oxygen device could reach.
