Kapitel 31: Drunken Shikera.

At the second calling, Ethan could immediately make out the owner of the voice; and it was Shikera. Esther made a mistake because of the slurry tone of Shikera's voice, which very much sounded like her own mum's voice, when she was alive.

Most nights, Mignon came home drunk and always shouted from the entrance just like Shikera was doing now, the only difference being that Mignon would never shout 'Darling Ethan'.

"It's not Mummy, Esther," he turned to the others who had also recognized the voice, and nodded at his mother, pushing Esther towards her.

"Eth— No! Sweetie!!!" Her voice was clearer this time and she appeared at the end of the pathway, waving her hand at the small crowd of people at the front of the mansion.

Ethan's jaws fell in surprise, wondering if his wife was high on something for her to call him that.
