Kapitel 129: Naruto Has Returned
Konoha Village, unlike the perpetually rainy lands of the Rain Nation, basked in sunny weather and boasted fertile lands and enviable natural resources.
After traversing a sprawling forest, Naruto and his entourage finally reached the outskirts of Konoha Village by evening on the same day.
As Naruto gazed ahead, Konoha Village appeared almost unchanged, mirroring the scene he left behind years ago.
Even during the past four years, Naruto's Shadow Clones hadn't returned to Konoha Village. They roamed the world, boasting invincibility, yet intentionally overlooked their hometown.
While they occasionally encountered Konoha Shinobi elsewhere, they never made the conscious effort to return.
From a distance, Naruto felt a wave of nostalgia washing over him as they approached the gates of Konoha Village. Oh how good it will felt when he had killed that bastard Danzo.
"Identify yourselves," the two Konoha guards promptly hailed them.
The nine members from the Village of Rains naturally deferred to Naruto.
Naruto, displaying no hint of hesitation, strode forward without waiting for permission. Hands on hips, he presented the Village of Rains forehead protector and declared, "We're ninjas from Village of Rains. We've been invited to participate in the Chunin Exam. Haven't you received the memo?"
The guards exchanged glances, a hint of mockery dancing in their eyes.
Of course, they were aware of the invitation, but they hadn't anticipated the Village of Rains's early arrival.
Rushing to a nearby table, they retrieved a booklet.
It seemed Konoha Village had taken thorough precautions, providing the list of invited "allies" to cross-reference and prevent any unwanted guests from slipping through the cracks.
"But aren't you too early?" the two guards approached, still discussing amongst themselves.
"Because I was thinking of you," Naruto replied with a careless smile.
Kurama couldn't help but shake his head in disbelief.
The guards looked puzzled, wondering what he meant by that.
Naruto shrugged, realizing they hadn't recognized him yet. He had indeed changed quite a bit.
"Well, let me remind you. Take a look at the list," Naruto pointed to the roster they held, offering a friendly reminder.
The guards glanced down at the list together and read aloud, "Uzumaki Naruto, Hydrangea, Hibiscus... Wait, Uzumaki Naruto?"
They almost missed it, but thankfully caught on quickly. Fearfully, they looked back up at Naruto, who nodded triumphantly.
However, the guards exchanged a glance and shook their heads, muttering, "Is it just a coincidence that they have the same name?"
"Hey, it's me! Even if our first names match, is it really that common to have the same last name?" Naruto snapped irritably.
The two guards looked at him with confusion, unsure of what he was on about.
Naruto sighed, "Are these guys dum,"
"Forget it, I can't be bothered to waste more time with you. By the time my name is recognized, the village elders will probably be waiting for me," Naruto said, turning his gaze towards the village.
Unbeknownst to the guards,
Naruto didn't need to activate his sensory field to sense that someone was already covertly watching him from a corner of the village.
As Uzumaki Naruto's name echoed, the nearby forest stirred with movement.
It was evident that when Kakashi returned with the roster bearing Naruto's name, the village had made preparations, albeit not necessarily friendly, for his "homecoming."
Naruto understood this well. His return to Konoha Village would undoubtedly be met with challenges. Arriving three days early allowed the village to strategize how to handle him.
But he was sure gonna enjoy burning this place to the ground.
"Can we enter?" Naruto inquired.
Aware of the impending trouble awaiting him, Naruto had no time to waste with these two guards, whether they recognized him or not.
The guards double-checked the roster before finally granting passage.
And so, Naruto, accompanied by a few Rain Shinobi, stepped foot once again into the long-forgotten Konoha Village—the place where he spent his childhood for eight years.
As the guards allowed them entry, their serious demeanor suddenly shifted, gesturing toward the nearby woods.
Naruto realized they were on alert, expecting trouble. And he was sure gonna give it to themas well.
With Kakashi's return and the roster in hand, it was impossible for the guards not to be informed. Though they may find it hard to believe Naruto has grown so much, he was unmistakable. As he often said, there may be many named Naruto, but only one Uzumaki Naruto.
The Uzumaki clan's survivors were few, their surname concealed to evade enemies. Even descendants like Nagato and Karin didn't bear the Uzumaki name.
So, the guards knew Naruto, the whirlpool, had returned. They simply delayed to allow the village time to prepare.
