Kapitel 35: Chaos in the city Part - 1

"What the hell happened!" They exclaimed at the same time with eyes wide as saucers.

"AHHHHHHHHH!!!! HELP!!!!"

They turned their attention to the loud cry for help. They watched as a man screamed for his life while a monster opened its vast maw.

"HELP! I DON'T WANT MO...."

The man didn't finish the sentence before the monster bit them in half, and their organs and blood fell to the ground. And the beast continued on its way in search of its next meal.

Violet looked at Erik, shaking heavily as she pointed to the remains of the man, and as she was about to say something, a guttural sound was heard.

"Buahhh..." Escaped from their lips, vomiting up everything she had eaten for breakfast. This unpleasant noise attracted the monster's attention.

Erik sees the monster heading towards them.

At a glance, Erik could see that Violet was now in no condition to fight because it was the first time he experienced a monster devouring a human.

He grabbed the spear and covered it with End Energy, concentrated his strength on his legs, causing the ground to crack into a spider web shape, and lunged toward the monster with determination.

Seeing Erik approaching quickly, the monster raised its giant hand and launched an attack to crush him.

However, to the monster's surprise, Erik zigzagged, leaving him a little bewildered by the speed with which he moved and dodged the attack...

Boom!

A small cloud of dust rose as the monster attacked.

The monster flashed a smile as it saw no movement in the dust cloud, but that smile quickly changed when...

From the middle of the dust cloud, Erik emerged utterly unharmed. He quickly climbed up the monster's hand and headed towards its head; his eyes glowed slightly.

With an annoyed expression, the monster attacks with its force on his forearm, where Erik quickly climbs.

Seeing the shadow of a hand rapidly approaching, Erik gathered more strength in his legs. In the blink of an eye, he appeared in front of the monster, who had a surprised expression.

"Die..." exclaimed Erik with a big grin. He thrust the spear into the monster's head, which began to fall backward slowly, leaving a big hole in front of it.

Thud!

The monster's body fell heavily onto the street. With the beast defeated Erik had a full view of the city's current state.

[Level up!]

"What the hell happened in such a short time?" exclaimed Erik, looking at how the entire city had changed in just a few hours.

The city's current state was, to put it simply, "Chaos." The streets were filled with monsters, and blood and organs were flowing through the sewers like water.

Children, adults, pregnant women, the elderly, and lifeless hunters could also be seen everywhere.

He looked at this with a completely neutral expression. He didn't feel any emotion seeing all this, but he felt utterly comfortable with all the chaos. He had the same feeling as when he reached the area where the skeletons of the undead were.

Could this be because of my affiliation? Erik deduced that maybe he had something to do with it.

After all, apocalypse goes hand in hand with destruction and chaos.

But what a strange feeling...

But now I can confidently say that I have no attachment to humans...

Controlling his thoughts, Erik concluded that he was no longer affected by anything related to humans as before, given the enormous change he had undergone mentally and physically.

He looked back to where Violet had not yet fully recovered. He looked down, turned the spear into a sword, and slashed at the monster's heart.

"Well... I hope Violet's cat is okay," Erik muttered as he descended from the monster and approached Violet, who was getting up.

As the monster descended, it vanished just like the monsters he defeated in the hunter's test.

Standing next to her, he asked softly.

"Are you okay?"

Violet looked up and met Erik's neutral expression; she inhaled deeply and exhaled.

"So what now? What's our next step?" She asked, sitting up slowly with Erik's help.

Erik was silent for a moment, pondering what they should do next.

"I think it would be best to try to get to the association for rather obvious reasons," he said, returning to the city engulfed in chaos.

After all, the hunters' association was the safest place because that was where the world's strongest hunter and his team were.

"I agree. Besides, we're close to the association," agreed Violet, aware that it was the safest place at the moment.

"Then let's move on."

The two of them headed towards the hunters' association, avoiding the areas with the highest presence of monsters.

...

After walking for quite some time, carefully avoiding the more powerful monsters they encountered on their way.

"Seriously, this place is untouched," exclaimed Violet, looking at the association building, which was completely intact.

She looked back and saw the whole city in ruins, houses in flames, people crying with blank stares, and monsters everywhere of different sizes, feasting with the bodies of both people and animals in their grasp.

Erik nodded in response and suggested.

"We should go in."

He walked towards the entrance of the association with determination.

Once inside the building, they were met with a melee of people, both hunters and civilians.

Most of the civilians appeared to be crying, while the hunters bore severe injuries, a testament to their brave stand against the monsters.

One of the hunters shared his anguish.

"I saw how my mother was devoured by one of those monsters right in front of my eyes."

Another added in frustration. "Why the hell does the Luminis guild attack anything that moves?"

Amidst the screams of the civilians, someone asked desperately.

"Please, can someone calm the baby down? I'm trying to rest."

And finally, another hunter cursed angrily.

"Damn it... just wait, you damn Luminis guild members, I'll chase you to the end of the world."

Erik and Violet, passing through the crowd, heard everything from babies crying to people cursing with an utterly crazed expression at the loss of a family member to the monsters in the city.

Erik listened to what people were talking about and got a rough idea of what was happening in the city.

That it was all caused by the Luminis guild, but there was something he didn't understand.

How did they make the city become like this so fast? How did so many monsters appear?

That was the one thing he didn't understand, how so many monsters had appeared in the city.

He averted his gaze to the stairs leading to the second floor and saw Adrian, Leon's subordinate, gesturing for him to come up.

Erik looked at Violet, who was a bit puzzled by all the noise on the second floor. He took her hand and walked towards Adrian.

When they entered the room where Leon and his group were, they were reticent. They watched the city in complete chaos from the window; sensing Adrian's entrance, they turned their attention to him entering with Erik and Violet.

Erik sat down on one of the pieces of furniture as if nothing had happened, and next to him sat Violet, who was a little nervous being present with so many strong people.

"Where were you? We couldn't find you anywhere in town," Leon spoke without taking his eyes off the window.

"Well, I was in a dungeon," Erik replied as he leaned back against the furniture.

Leon continued to ask.

"Were you surprised when you came out of the dungeon?"

"A little; I wasn't expecting the city that a few hours ago to be in complete chaos."

"One question: why is the building completely unharmed?"

Leon responded with some arrogance.

"Because of this me."

"Wow, that's pretty impressive; now I understand why the building is intact."

"It is impressive, isn't it?"

"Yes, quite impressive."

The others in the room were shocked expressions and were still not used to seeing a mere D-ranked hunter casually talking to the world's strongest hunter as if they were some friends.

"By the way, you're close to moving up to C rank, aren't you?" asked Leon.

Erik showed a surprised expression and said. "How did you know?"

"Well, thanks to your partner, I was able to come to that conclusion," Leon replied without giving much detail about it.

Irine's eyes widened when she heard this information. They hadn't even been there a day since they updated their ranks.

Ignoring the shocked looks, Erik asked seriously.

"Useless conversations aside, what happened to the city to get to this state?"
