Kapitel 61: Types of Haki

"Indeed, he can't even lay a finger on him!"

Crocodile, unimpressed by the ongoing training, smirked and casually walked away, puffing on his cigar.

"The gap is just too huge!"

Ace sighed, rubbing his forehead in frustration.

"Hahahaa~"

"Yeah, it's only natural. After all, the old man is the strongest man in the world. It's too soon for the Strawhat boy to face him," Jozu laughed.

As others conversed, Luffy regained his focus. His eyes locked onto Whitebeard, a mix of surprise and confusion reflecting in his gaze, silently questioning the situation.

"Guurarara~"

"This is Observation Haki," Whitebeard explained with a smile.

"Observation Haki?" Luffy looked confused.

"Next, keep attacking!" Seeing Luffy's confusion, Whitebeard didn't elaborate further. He understood that Luffy wasn't one to grasp complex explanations, deciding actions would speak louder than words.

Turning around and presenting his back to Luffy, Whitebeard awaited the attack. Luffy, having witnessed Whitebeard's power, launched another attack with the speed of his second gear.

In a blink of an eye, Luffy appeared behind Whitebeard, unleashing a rapid flurry of punches. However, even though Whitebeard had his back turned, he effortlessly avoided every blow, as if he had eyes on the back of his head.

"What?!" Surprise filled Luffy's eyes. Confusion clouded his mind.

If Whitebeard had avoided the previous attack based on instinct and experience, it might have been explained. However, the current situation left Luffy perplexed. Whitebeard managed to dodge his attacks with precision, despite not seeing what was happening behind him.

Unable to comprehend or accept it, Luffy persisted in his relentless assault, increasing the speed of his attacks. Yet, it was futile. Whitebeard seemed to predict every move, effortlessly dodging all attempts to land a hit.

"Huh~huh~" Luffy stopped, panting heavily. Shocked, his gaze at Whitebeard remained devoid of any other emotion.

The revelation of Haki unfolded before Luffy as Whitebeard, with a cunning and calculating demeanor, explained the three types of this mysterious power. Luffy, recalling his encounter with Enel on Sky Island, realized the potential of mastering Observation Haki to sharpen his senses and predict danger.

Whitebeard, seizing the opportunity to demonstrate, swiftly transitioned to Armament Haki. The powerful punch he delivered left Luffy in awe, despite his rubbery nature. Whitebeard's explanation shed light on the ability to hurt Devil Fruit users, a knowledge that could have altered the course of Luffy's past battles.

"This is the power of Haki?" Luffy marveled, his excitement building as he considered the implications for his future battles. Memories of confronting formidable foes like Crocodile flooded his mind, and the realization that Armament Haki could have been a game-changer sparked eagerness in Luffy's eyes.

As Whitebeard continued to impart his wisdom, the mention of Conqueror's Haki added a new layer of intrigue. The serious tone in Whitebeard's voice caught Luffy's attention, and he became alert, acknowledging the significance of possessing such a rare ability.

The cunning and calculated nature of Alex, now embodied in Luffy's eager anticipation, aligned with a strategic mindset. The prospect of mastering Haki became a key element in Luffy's journey to become the Pirate King, and the calculated decisions he would make in battles were already forming in his mind. As the training continued, the cunning approach of Alex guided Luffy towards unlocking the full potential of Haki, a power that would undoubtedly shape the future encounters of the Straw Hat Pirate in the treacherous waters of the New World.

A formidable Haki emanated from Whitebeard.

BOOM!

The air echoed with a thunderous roar. The powerful Haki surged like a storm, its strength unmatched as it spread in all directions. The sea was swept away by this momentum, splashing like boiling water. The ship docked on the shore shook violently, its planks creaking but managing to hold together.

Even more terrifyingly, dark clouds rolled in the sky, signaling the imminent arrival of a storm, covering the surrounding sea. In the forefront, Luffy bore the weight of Whitebeard's Conqueror Haki.

His body trembled, and his eyes bulged out. Under the overwhelming influence of this Haki, Luffy's breathing quickened, and his limbs grew stiff, rendering him unable to move.

"This... Conqueror's Haki," Luffy struggled to speak. A powerful Conqueror's Haki surged from his body, but this Haki hadn't fully unleashed yet. It was completely crushed by Whitebeard's Haki!

Plop~

Luffy's Conqueror's Haki crumbled. Whitebeard's formidable Haki engulfed Luffy completely. Trembling, Luffy raised his arm and instinctively reached for his neck. Feeling overwhelmed by the immense power, Luffy's thoughts turned desperate, as if he wanted to choke himself!

However, just as he was about to squeeze his own neck, the overwhelming aura suddenly dissipated. Luffy found himself kneeling on the ground, gasping for breath. As he lifted his head and locked eyes with Whitebeard, a look of utter astonishment filled Luffy's eyes.

If it weren't for Whitebeard's intention to stop, he was moments away from strangling himself to death! And the cause of all this—it was just a glimpse of Whitebeard's power.

Astonished, shocked, and amazed! Various emotions overwhelmed him, and even with his rubbery head, he felt the sheer terror of Whitebeard. At that moment, he also realized why Whitebeard is called the strongest man in the world.

If he can't catch up, that means he won't be able to become the Pirate King. And there's no doubt that he will die in the process.
