Kapitel 9: Sacred Gates

"Bang!"

At the sound of the gunshot, the man trembled involuntarily. Max had fired a shot within the bar without the slightest change in expression.

Thump...

Footsteps approached from the side, and the bodyguards in the courtyard rushed over, opening the door and entering the room. The man hastily followed.

Upon entering, they found their leader lying on the ground facing them, with a familiar bullet hole between his eyebrows.

"It's him! It's him!"

The man sat on the floor with a thud, exclaiming in horror. Although he hadn't seen anyone, and despite not knowing how this person had entered, he was convinced it was Max.

"It seems there's a word here? It says 'Sacred Gates.' What does that mean? Is it the name left by the killer?"

It sdidn't sound like a person's name or code name; it sounded more like the name of an organization. Whether it was an individual or an organization, the name "Sacred Gates" suddenly gained notoriety in Japan.

The death of the Ninja clan's leader sent shockwaves throughout the criminal underworld. He had been killed inexplicably within his own heavily protected territory.

Moreover, just before his death, the murderer had visited a bar, killed members of the Jidao organization, and conveyed a message to their leader, stating his intention to kill him.

Then, the leader was indeed killed.

No one knew how the murderer had infiltrated their layers of protection, how he had silently assassinated the leader, or how he had left without a trace.

But everyone knew that this "Sacred Gates" was no ordinary adversary. Some even made note of a description of "Sacred Gates" appearance to avoid encountering him in the future.

As for the Jidao organization, even though their leader had been killed, such a formidable organization wouldn't disintegrate easily. Soon, someone would rise to lead it, seeking vengeance for the slain leader.

However, with Max's elusive nature, the Ninja's combed Tokyo thoroughly but failed to locate him. It was as if he had evaporated from the world, leaving no trace behind.

Eventually, some of the subordinates reported seeing Max again.

The Ninjas were fully armed, determined to capture Max, but he continued to elude them. Each time they closed in on him, he managed to escape.

"I said, could this guy be a Mutant? Does he have some special Ability? Otherwise, how could he slip away like this every time? How is he managing to escape?"

"Who knows? I think he's toying with us on purpose."

After repeating this scenario multiple times, the members of the Ninja Clan were becoming exasperated. Time and again, they lost not only their confidence but also became a laughingstock to outsiders.

Although the Ninja Clan was Japan's largest criminal syndicate, it was not the only gang in town. At this point, other gangs were itching for a fight, hoping to replace them. The Ninja Clan found itself overwhelmed, and the result was that they were losing ground. The more they tried to capture Max, the fewer people he encountered from the organization. Eventually, Max boldly dined at a restaurant and strolled through the streets without any sign of pursuit from the Black Ninja Clan.

"Should I call it quits now? Well, it seems like it's about time!" Max approached a dead-end alley, opened the door, and walked in without hesitation.

....

In the expansive Yashida family mansion, two black-clad security personnel stand sentry at the entrance, with additional guards stationed strategically throughout the premises.

Every corner of the house is meticulously monitored, making it nearly impossible for anyone to infiltrate undetected.

The architectural style of the residence is distinctly Japanese, with the sole occupants being the Yashida family members and their numerous guards. The household staff numbers well over fifty, not counting Yashida Ichiro's medical team.

However, on this particular day, an unexpected visitor graces the halls of the Yashida estate—Wolverine, also known as Logan.

As Yashida Ichiro's health continues to deteriorate, he turned to his adopted granddaughter, Yukio, for a final request—to seek out Wolverine. Yukio spent an entire year searching for him and eventually delivered the message, inviting Wolverine to Japan to bid farewell to Yashida Ichiro.

After a refreshing shower, a clean shave, and donning his iconic vest and jacket, Wolverine stands at the bedside of the ailing Yashida Ichiro.

However, this encounter and conversation take an unfavorable turn, leading Wolverine to make the decision to depart from Japan the following morning. Yet, his discontent is not the sole issue at hand; Yashida Ichiro's son, who was expected to inherit leadership of the Yashida Group from his father, faces a bitter revelation.

Instead of passing the reins to his son, Yashida Ichiro has chosen to entrust the company to his daughter, Mariko Yashida. This decision deeply disappoints and angers the son, who had been poised to assume control of Yashida Shingen.
