"Raymond and I worked for the same real estate company," Mum began, her voice tinged with emotion. "When I got transferred to his branch, we fell deeply in love the moment we saw each other. It was love at first sight," she said, taking a fresh tissue and wiping her nose.

"We got married after six months," she continued, her gaze distant as she recalled the past. "A year later, you were born. You were a bundle of joy to us. But then Raymond lost his job, and everything changed. He became easily irritated by the smallest things. At first, I thought it was because he couldn't provide for the family anymore. We were living off my income, but I was wrong. He started coming home drunk, leaving in the morning and returning late at night in a drunken stupor," she sniffled.
