Kapitel 4: Chapter 4 - Nightmare

A week later, a single bellflower bloomed on her father's grave. Daisy realized a profound thing. It was just like when her mother had died.

A memory flashed before her eyes:

"What happens to dead people, papa?"

Staring at the bellflowers blooming on her mother's grave, her father said, "They become flowers."

She connected the dots and immediately wanted the flower before her to accompany her loneliness.

A toad so big, almost a foot long, eyed its prey till it came still. He shot his tongue, so sure of catching it—only to be blocked by a stupid creature he couldn't eat!

Eep!

Lyle jumped and crawled up the tower he has always called mommy.

"Lyle, it's just a toad," Val said, helping him climb her shoulders. Lyle leveraged all the curves of her body as a support to climb.

"It was trying to eat me!" Lyle protested at the obvious threat she was trying to deny.

"Look at its size, how do you think he would eat you?"

"What if he is a space bag in disguise?"

Val shook her head, so used to his imaginative antics. He was so creative in connecting two things that would make no sense in real life.

Lyle tightly hugged the neck of the most reliable tower in the world. His mother had the strength of a hundred rhinos—whatever that meant— and he was so not going to leave her side.

Lyle would always stick to his mother whenever a danger tingled his senses. He preferred her over everyone else, even his aunt. What would his aunt do in an emergency? At most, he could hide in her hat. It was not recommended to use a witch hat in that way, but Lyle wouldn't shy away from trying that option out should the need arise.

The mother-son pair were returning from their usual bonfire gossip session at night.

It had been almost a year ever since they had taken shelter in the cave. The cave was spacious enough to shelter them, but they opted to build a village outside and let the cave be for emergencies and storage. Now they had a strong base, the huge mountain curve acting as a natural protection wall around, reconnaissance towers to watch out for monsters, a giant Ferritimber gate, and if push comes to shove, they had an excellent retreat point, the cave, made out of one of the strongest Rock: The Dark Gahnite.

Even a water source was near them. With such favorable conditions, how could they not find it reassuring, especially when they were stranded in an unknown area so deep into the most dangerous forest?

Being able to find a 'C' shaped canyon ready for them to build a strong base in was such a naked blessing that the villagers couldn't believe their eyes when they first found it. It was like finding an Oasis in a vast, barren desert.

Meanwhile, Aunt was mumbling a jovial tune while tidying up her lab. It was all too good to be true! Her back-to-back successes and breakthroughs! She totally avoided even a single mistake in her witchcraft! Um, almost?

First, it was the perfectly performing healing potions, second was the mana potions, then was her advances in medicinal mastery. This apocalyptic period had been so fruitful and fortunate to her that she ended up breaking through several steps in her witchcraft.

In the past two months, when the people needed her the most, she performed optimally. She never heard a single complaint, even if she made minor mistakes. She had only heard their praise as they treated her like a treasured gem, since she was the only witch in the group.

What's more, she even managed to concoct a perfect antidote for the venom—well, almost. There were some mishaps—like men becoming impotent as a side effect—but it was alright as long as they were saved, right? Impotence was not much of a price in exchange for life, of course!

Nevertheless, this was still a cause for a grand celebration! A rhythm flowed through her body and she started shaking her hips, tapping her feet, and she bursted into a silent dance with a wide smile.

But wait! She halted abruptly. It was no time to enjoy and waste precious time. No time to waste the precious momentum she had just built. Maybe it was a lucky period of her life? She must grasp all the upcoming opportunities and make gold out of it.

That's it! To celebrate in the truest sense, she must create something—something extraordinary, something that would dazzle all the villagers! Then another bout of praise wasn't too far from her grasp. And if her creation is truly extraordinary, endless glory awaits her, no doubt!

But what should she make?

Oh, damn, she first had to make medicines to cure the men's impotence. How could she forget such an important thing once again?!

They were in that tight formation again, and he could see people struggling around to fight off the abominations of the apocalypse. A 10 feet tall wolf, a 16 feet tall bear, and humans turned monsters, all had morphed into dark gray, ugly creatures.

Inflated body parts, ballooned blisters, hanging intestines, and whatnot. They came in all disgusting shapes. Just a look at them was enough to give one goosebumps.

Suddenly, in the distance, a woman fell as her scream echoed in the dead of the forest. Lyle jerked and took a look at her, just to see her being eaten by a wolf-like monster. It ate her by her stomach as blood gushed out in copious amounts. Intestines popped out, and her body convulsed in insufferable agony.

Lyle's spine chilled, and he shivered by seeing what a little child like him should not have.

Another man fell into a gory mess as the bear tore his flesh to reveal his ribs. It rowed its claws into his chest and tore it open.

A scream broke out in the distance and Lyle flinched, horrified. It sounded like his mom. He huffed uncontrollably and began running in the direction, tearing through the crowd, through the crowd of feet, and then… he got stuck into someone's cushy ass. He couldn't even get out, he was stuck so deep in the softness that he couldn't even move, couldn't even breathe. Suffocating, even though his mom was in danger, and possibly…

He screamed and woke up and wormed out of his mother's grasp. Huffing and puffing, he finally realized it was just a nightmare. His mom was all right.

It was just his mom hugging him tight against her massive boobs, and he suffocated. "Stupid boobs!" He punched them several times.

Val was a heavy sleeper, and such feeble punches were far from enough to wake her up.

Lyle's gaze swept his surroundings and he shivered once again. It was all dark and scary. The earlier fear was still lingering in his heart. So he quickly dived deep into his mom's bosom, wrapped himself by her sturdy hands and hugged her to sleep. Though suffocating at times, it was still a reliable tower after all.
