Kapitel 142: Chapter 142 "Cassandra's Hope"

It wasn't until Christine's figure disappeared down the hall that Cassandra let out a relieved sigh, maintaining her composure as she departed without looking back.

After Cassandra had her breakfast at the restaurant, she unexpectedly turned to Christine, who was also eating, and said, "I want to meet my father."

Christine calmly picked up a tissue, gracefully wiped the corner of her mouth, and then signaled to a wizard nearby.

The wizard stood up and accompanied Cassandra upstairs.

Upon opening the door to a room, Thomas Vole's figure came into view. At this moment, he was no longer bound to a chair, able to move within the confines of the room but unable to go beyond.

As his daughter entered, Thomas Vole managed a wry smile and apologetically stated, "Sorry, Cassandra, Father didn't get you a Christmas present this year."

Cassandra's eyes instantly reddened at her Father's words. She shook her head and walked into the room, assisting him to sit by the bed.

"Father, one more day, and we'll be safe!" Cassandra expressed with hope. "Please hang in there. I promise just a little bit more."

Thomas, however, shook his head gloomily and continued, "I said, Cassandra, if their plan is successful, we'll lose our value. Those people won't let us go. And now, we're trapped here, completely cut off from the outside world, especially the Ministry of Magic. We've lost contact, and no one will come to our rescue."

Observing that the wizard who led the way had left, Cassandra leaned in closer to her Father and spoke softly, "Father, when I sent invitations to Wentworth and the others as they requested, the reason was for your safe return. It's been so long, and you haven't returned to the Ministry of Magic. Maybe they can find something."

But Thomas, seemingly devoid of hope, remarked casually, "If they could find any clues, the Aurors from the Ministry of Magic would have shown up by now! After all, they're just a group of eleven or twelve-year-olds."

While wanting to deny the argument her Father had just given, she couldn't help but think what he had just said was true...

What can a little boy like Wentworth do to stand up against Christine? Not to count all the other things that Christine prepared behind the curtain, laying in wait for the people that tries to ruin her plan.

Cassandra, however, didn't share her Father's skepticism and countered, "I believe that the new leader of the Alliance won't be an unresponsive incompetent. Don't forget, his surname is Grindelwald. At least, we can continue to retain our usefulness." She concluded with a wry smile.

The high hope of having the Alliance family trying to save them from Christine's grasp always brings a smile to Cassandra's face.

She hugged her Father tightly and whispered, "Don't worry, we will be saved..."

Trusts between the two families have been built and forged to an even higher level thanks to this particular incident.

After all this, Cassandra's love for Wentworth will undoubtedly be an undying love that transcends life itself.

Meanwhile, Wentworth, Rosier, and Abernathy gathered at the Greenglass family's manor, accompanied by wizards behind them, discussing the action plan for the upcoming day.

In the midst of the discussion, Abernathy, with authority, declared, "If you ask me, there's no need to discuss anything. Rosier, take someone to guard outside, cast a spell prohibiting shapeshifting, and I'll lead a group to rush in! It's just a small manor. Can it be stronger than the Magical Congress of the United States and the Ministry of Magic of the United Kingdom?"

His words garnered approval, and Auston Greengrass promptly stood up, volunteering, "I'm willing to be the pioneer and be the first to rush in!"

Just as Auston's voice faded, someone behind him grumbled, "Little boy, the age might already be catching up to me, but you would find it harder than that to replace me with someone else to do such an easy task that won't even break a sweat off my wrinkly face!"

Auston turned to see Carlo, clad in ragged clothes, expressing his dissent.

Despite Auston's usual arrogance, facing this man born into the 28th Holy Family in England, someone as esteemed as his grandfather, an old wizard who had personally followed Gellert Grindelwald decades ago, Auston found himself losing his temper immediately.

Amid the debate, some wizards proposed a nocturnal infiltration to gain an initial advantage and minimize casualties.

Others suggested sending a letter to the British Ministry of Magic, asking for Auror assistance while the Umno Party observed.

In the midst of the discussion, Rosier's coughing captured everyone's attention.

When eyes turned toward Rosier, he raised his head in Wentworth's direction.

Abernathy, noticing this, moved to Wentworth's side and asked quietly, "Wentworth, what do you think we should do?"

Facing Abernathy's inquiry, Wentworth smiled lightly and responded, "I think we need to formulate two sets of plans. The first set is straightforward—we can enter directly. For those who wish for my demise, there's no need to be polite. Leave two alive; the rest, life or death, doesn't matter."

"As for the second plan, we need to strategize! Because I want to..."

The Greengrass family's manor was ablaze that night with light and activity.

Simultaneously, in the Vole family's manor, sleep eluded many. Christine finalized arrangements, Thomas paced and sighed in his room, and Cassandra, seated quietly, gazed through the glass toward the manor's door.

There, a sleek broom rested against the corner, silently waiting.

On the morning of the specified day mentioned in Cassandra's invitation, Wentworth arrived at a dense forest near Cassandra's manor a few minutes ahead of schedule. Abernathy was already waiting there.

"How did it go?" Wentworth inquired impatiently upon meeting Abernathy.

Abernathy shook his head slowly and replied, "Nothing, except observing the house-elves and servants busy within the manor; I found nothing else."

However, Wentworth's interest seemed to lie elsewhere.

Quietly, he walked to the edge of the forest, concealed himself behind a tree, and scrutinized Cassandra's manor as if searching for something.

Upon spotting the broom at the manor's entrance, Wentworth smiled and turned to Abernathy and Rosier, saying, "Proceed and execute the second plan!"

Hesitating momentarily upon hearing Wentworth's directive, Abernathy said nothing, turned, and left.

Rosier leaned in and asked, "Wentworth, may I inquire why?"

Wentworth proceeded to share the information about Qianzhihe with Rosier. Frowning, Rosier remarked, "In that case, considering the warning you left in Cassandra's painting, shouldn't you leave? I'm curious: what would you do if this broom hadn't appeared here?"

Calmly, Wentworth responded, "I would still go in! The figures in the painting aren't me, but you! As for the consequences, it's up to God..."

Hearing the young Lord's explanation left Rosier speechless. She definitely could see the quality of a Leader from Wentworth in the way he takes risky moves by already calculating all the possible outcomes.
