Kapitel 14: CHAPTER 14
Hearing the system confirm his success, Shen Tian was doing his happy dance inside his head. His thoughts were all filled with the 10 kilograms of chicken meat that was set as the reward for completing the side quest.
'Chicken meat! Chicken meat!'
"Now that you're officially a resident of this safe zone, albeit temporarily, you can go ahead and do your thing." Shen Tian beamed. "Just make sure not to violate the safe zone rules as stated in the agreement."
"Yes, of course.", Shao Haoran nodded. "We will go ahead and rest then."
As soon as Shao Haoran closed the door of the guest room, Shen Tian went to the kitchen to inspect his reward, heading straight to the refrigerator to see if the chicken meat has been deposited there.
Seeing that the refrigerator was as empty as he left it this morning, Shen Tian called the system questioningly.

"Oh." Shen Tian reacted, and dashed directly to the storage room.
There, he saw that a brand new chest freezer was added to one side. Inside was the chicken meat he worked hard for. He was even happier to see that the chicken was already cut up. There's no need for him to look for a new knife then.
He proceeded to take a pack out from the freezer. This will be his supply for the day. He'll cook some and the rest will be stored in the refrigerator in the kitchen.
He thought of what to cook for dinner with the ingredients he currently has. It was then that he remembered that his tenant was sick so he decided to cook a portion of chicken congee. The only problem now is the condiments.
"Hey, system, can you give me some condiments please?", Shen Tian pleaded.

"You have a shop??"
Shen Tian excitedly ran to the system room to explore the shop function that the system has just revealed. He navigated the screen and was able to find the greyed out button with the text "Shop". He pressed the button and a notification popped out on the screen.
"What?! 50 crystal cores to unlock the shop?!", Shen Tian was shocked at the amount reflected on the screen.
Good thing he now has 202 crystal cores, 200 of which was Shao Haoran's rental payment. Otherwise, he'd be pulling his hair out in frustration.
Shen Tian didn't hesitate to pay the 50 crystal cores to unlock the shop. Once the shop was unlocked, the shop menu appeared. It showed categories - consumable, gear, material, and special.
At this point, Shen Tian temporarily forgot about the condiments he had requested from the system earlier. He was more attracted to the gear category shown on the screen.
Without further ado, he pressed on it and a gallery filled with pictures of items appeared on the screen. He got even more excited to see that there were weapons being sold at the shop. However, he was disappointed to see the price of each of these weapons.
"What's with these prices??", Shen Tian exclaimed as he perused the items.
The most basic kitchen knife was 150 crystal coins. Swords, mace, axes, hammers, and the likes are priced at the thousands range. Shen Tian's excitement cooled down upon seeing those prices.
"Darn it!"
He decided that he'll revisit the weapons sold on the shop later when he had more crystal cores in hand. At this time, he should refocus on the items that he needs the most - the condiments.
Not having the energy to search through the categories one by one, Shen Tian decided to use the search function. This was a good decision on his part since it automatically showed him the salt and pepper item that he needed.
"Haha.", Shen Tian's lips twitched. As expected, the price is definitely one that only robbers can set.
A bundle of 50 grams of salt and 50 grams of pepper costs 10 crystal cores!
Sighing, Shen Tian purchased one bundle. He hoped that he'll be able to earn more crystal cores or entice more residents later to be able to afford having salt and pepper in his home. Otherwise, if he relied solely on Shao Haoran's rental fee, he'll run out of crystal cores soon enough just on condiments alone.
Seeing that the salt and pepper bundle was categorized as consumables, Shen Tian decided to peruse what's being sold in the consumables category. There, he saw oil, soy sauce, and vinegar. Knowing that he needed these condiments as well, he went ahead and purchased them despite wanting to cry because of their prices. Aside from these, he also purchased sugar and milk.
All in all, Shen Tian only had 80 crystal cores left in hand after shopping.
"Better complete the chain quest before all these crystal cores are gone.", Shen Tian thought to himself and navigated toward the quest tab.
He then placed the 5 crystal cores on top of the pillar below the holographic screen.
