Kapitel 46: Rich and Willful

Two hours later, Christopher returned to the rooftop, only to find Spider-Man still lingering there.

Seeing Christopher's return, Spider-Man leaped to his feet, pointing accusingly. "What did you do to Mary?" he demanded.

Christopher tossed a card to Spider-Man and replied, "That's the room key. See for yourself. You'll find out once you go in."

Spider-Man stared at the card in his hand, feeling a pang in his heart and a lump forming in his throat. Without a word, he took the card and departed.

There was no question that Spider-Man was off to find Mary.

Christopher wasn't afraid, even though Spider-Man was here. He acted openly and admitted the situation, yet refused to take responsibility.

Who had wrongly accused him the previous night and even attacked him?

Who had allowed Mary to persistently pursue him?

If he didn't assert his power, they would think he was an easy target to bully.

Christopher remained seated on the guardrail, awaiting Natasha's return.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, Christopher grew concerned for Natasha's safety. With the speed of Transformers, she shouldn't have been away for so long.

He reached for his phone and contacted Optimus. "Optimus, any updates on Natasha?"

"Liege, Natasha was caught last night attempting to steal vibranium from SHIELD. I spoke to Director Fury, and it seems he wasn't furious, so I didn't notify you," Prime reported.

"Is there any way to retrieve the vibranium?" Christopher inquired, eager to obtain the valuable material for the Transformers.

"Apologies, my lord, but our size and lack of humanoid intelligence prevent us from accessing SHIELD's systems," Prime explained.

"Understood. Keep me informed about Natasha. If she's in danger, intervene," Christopher ordered.

"Yes, my lord," Prime acknowledged.

At 8 o'clock in the evening, Spider-Man returned to the rooftop, supporting Mary.

Mary's gait was awkward, resembling a duck's waddle. Each step seemed difficult, her brows furrowed, yet she wore a smile of contentment.

"Christopher," Mary called out weakly.

"Are you still not satisfied? Fine, let's continue at the hotel," Christopher snapped, his patience wearing thin.

Mary, seemingly shaken by something, trembled involuntarily. Biting her lip, she stammered, "N-No, I'm... I'm satisfied."

"Then why are you here?" Christopher demanded.

"I... I missed you," Mary confessed shyly.

Christopher glanced at Spider-Man, whose expression was akin to having eaten something foul.

Turning to Spider-Man, Christopher remarked, "Peter, despite your cowardice, I must admit you're remarkably generous. I slept with your girlfriend, and yet you still bring her back to me. Do you realize how ridiculous it is?"

"Christopher, I know you're deliberately angry with me, and I admit I'm furious, but I love Mary deeply, and I'd do anything for her," Spider-Man declared, his infatuation evident.

"I'm about ready to throttle you both. You're both insufferable. Just stay put! I'm out," Christopher declared, leaping off the guardrail and swinging away.

Seeing Christopher depart, Mary implored Spider-Man, "Peter, take me after him!"

"I..." Spider-Man hesitated.

Mary stamped her foot in frustration. "You claimed you loved and supported me unconditionally. Why... why break your promise now?"

Gritting his teeth, Spider-Man relented, "No, I won't break my promise."

"Then what are we waiting for? If we don't hurry, we'll lose him," Mary urged anxiously.

With determination, Spider-Man wrapped an arm around Mary's waist, sprinted to the edge of the rooftop, and leaped down. He shot out a strand of spider silk, propelling them both forward in pursuit of Christopher.

Christopher, swinging leisurely through the city, was taken aback by Mary's joyful cries behind him. Glancing back, he was dumbfounded to see Spider-Man chasing after Mary alongside him.

Fully convinced of Spider-Man's sincerity, Christopher unleashed his spider silk with both hands, propelling himself forward at an incredible speed.

Despite Spider-Man's determination, he lacked Christopher's strength and finesse, struggling to maintain a straight trajectory while carrying Mary.

After a few moments, Spider-Man and Mary lost sight of Christopher.

Seeing Christopher dash off, Mary voiced her dissatisfaction with Spider-Man sarcastically, "Peter, Christopher used your skills. Why couldn't you catch him? Or were you not even trying?"

Hanging from a street lamp with spider silk, Spider-Man grimaced, "Christopher's too strong for me. There's nothing I could do."

"You did it on purpose," Mary accused.

"No," Spider-Man protested.

"You did it on purpose!"

"I'm innocent!"

Spider-Man and Mary bickered while Christopher and some onlookers bought a sports car and sped toward the beach. Simultaneously, he instructed Optimus to send a steel armor to pick him up there.

His plan? Return to the private island and wait for Natasha.

He had no desire to see Spider-Man and Mary in New York again. They were just too odd a pair.

Christopher drove, boredom setting in as he pushed the car to its limits. His driving was average, but his reflexes were sharp, allowing him to overtake another car on the road, much to the other driver's shock.

Hours later, he reached the beach, not slowing down as he drove the sports car straight into the sea.

Splash.

The car skidded across the water for hundreds of meters before sinking.

Christopher emerged from the sea and spotted the steel armor hovering above.

"Master, I'm here to pick you up," Prime's voice echoed from the armor.

"Good," Christopher replied, raising his hand.

The armor grasped his hand, lifting him up and enveloping him.

"Optimus, back to the private island," Christopher commanded.

"Yes, my lord," Optimus complied.

Christopher departed in his steel armor, leaving the expensive sports car behind. Money certainly allowed for indulgence.

Back on the peaceful private island, Christopher sought out Dr. Octopus, Dr. Hank, and Dr. Helen. The three genius doctors were engrossed in their research, barely acknowledging his presence.

He was pleased to see them so dedicated. He believed his second-generation Transformers would soon be a reality.
