Kapitel 45: 45. An "Uneventful" Day

(A/N: Please remember that some aspects of my story goes against Type-Moon cannon. One of the biggest ones is that Artoria's identity wasn't very well hidden, and was known to some of her closest knight's, as well as some of the nobility.)

===Godrick, at the age of eight, eleven years before his death===

"Come." His mother said simply, leading him and Mordred up the muddy hill to where the captured prisoners knelt in the rain.

King Gorfyddyd of the Kingdom of Powys had initiated a war on Camelot from the west, which Artoria had quickly and brutally brought her sword down on.

Artoria had many more things to worry about, as the Warlord was still ravaging the whole of England, and King Gorfyddyd's war was just another annoyance that she had to deal with.

Artoria wore her lion shaped helmet to hide her face, but Gorfyddyd, who was kneeling in the mud, shit, and blood instantly recognized her.

"So, the whore lover comes to pass judgment on me and my men!" He shouted before being viciously backhanded by Lancelot who stood next to him.

Gorfyddyd spat a mouthful of blood before looking back up at the King of Knights.

"How is the whore my Lord? Laying on her back for one of your knight's?" He asked before being struck again by Lancelot.

"You will not speak of Lady Guinevere like that again." Lancelot hissed in a dangerous voice

"And why not? She didn't seem to mind me calling her that when she was beneath me?" Gorfyddyd said.

Lancelot raised his hand again before Artoria snapped at him to stay his hand. Lancelot reluctantly obeyed, lowering his hand as his King took her place before Gorfyddyd.

"You have made a terrible mistake this day, King Gorfyddyd. I dont have the time, nor the patience to deal with your little war. So I will end it here and now." She said, drawing Excalibur from her waist.

Gorfyddyd's bloody face sneered as he looked up at the King of Knights knowing she was bluffing.

"You speak big words for a King already at war. Killing me will only fan the flames. Do you really think you can fight on two fronts?" He asked, already knowing the answer.

"Of course not. But a kingdom that never wanted a war in the first place, won't want a second one." She said, taking an item from one of her aids before dropping a sheet of parchment in the mud next to him.

"I know that the Warlord promised you a portion of Camelot. And that your counsel advised you against starting the war. Once you are dead, your son will take the throne, and he will be a better King than you ever were." She said.

Gorfyddyd's face had gone pale at the mention of the parchment, but he didn't plead for his life.

"Do it then." He said, resigned to his fate.

Artoria tossed her blade up into the air, catching it by the blade before holding it out to Mordred.

She turned pale as the blade was held out to her, and nervously shook her head.

Artoria shifted the blade to be in front of Godrick, who also paled at the implications.

"If you are to fight in a war, you must first understand what it means to kill. You both are still young, and won't stand on the battlefield for a couple more years, but that doesn't mean you get to shirk your responsibilities to your King, or your Kingdom. Take the blade." She said forcefully.

Godrick held out a shaking hand and took the blade, letting its tip gall in the mud as she released it, not expecting its weight.

"No!" Gorfyddyd shouted, fear entering his eyes as he looked at the boy holding the blade.

"Please, have mercy, please don't let the boy butcher me!" He pleaded with Artoria.

She looked down at him, and he could see her cold eyes through the slits of her helmet.

"I do not take the insults of Lady Guinevere lightly." She said before motioning for a stump to be found and brought over.

She then nodded to Lancelot, who walked behind Gorfyddyd, and stomped on his back to place his head on the stump.

"PLEASE NO!" Gorfyddyd shouted as Artoria guided Godrick over to the stump.

"Now," She said in Godricks ears as she showed him what to do.

"You want to make the strike as clean as you can, but cutting through the neck is harder than you think." She said.

"Raise the sword," She said. Godrick complied, raising the heavy sword with both hands.

"And strike down with it." She commanded.

Godrick did so, but underestimated the reach of the blade, cutting deeply into the side of Gorfyddyd's neck with the very tip of the blade.

"PLEESS" Gorfyddyd said in broken speech.

"Take a step forward dear." Artoria said, pushing Godrick forward a bit, and helping him unlodge the blade from the stump.

Once more, Godrick swung the blade, and this time it struck true. However, it didn't have enough force behind it, so the blade broke Gorfyddyd's neck as it cut into him.

"AAAAAAHHHHH" The King slered, his body going limp as Lancelot held him on the stump.

"Once more Godrick." Artoria said.

The third strike finally killed the King, making his pale head roll from his body as Lancelot finally let it slump to one side.

Godrick was shaking, having just butchered a man to death. He dropped the sword as he looked over at his mother with tears in his eyes.

She quickly knelt down and grabbed his shoulders forcing him to look into her eyes.

"Godrick, if you are to be one of my knight's, you must understand the fragility of human life." She said to him.

"You must not hesitate when you are on the battlefield, or you will die, Do You Understand Me?" She said, tightening her hold on his shoulders and shaking him slightly.

"Yes." He said in a shaky voice.

"Good." She said, bringing him into a hug.

"You must understand that this world is cruel. So be cruel when you must, and be kind when you can." She told him before standing up.

"What do we do with the rest of the prisoners?" Lancelot asked, looking out across the beaten army of Powys.

"Break the thumbs of their right hands, then send them home." Artoria said, wanting them to not be able to hold a sword for a season or two.

"Understood my King." Lancelot said, bowing before going about his grim work.

-X Godrick X-

"Are you even listening to me?" Artoria said, waving her hand in front of Godricks face, getting his attention.

He rapidly blinked his eyes, and shook his head at the memories of his past.

"I'm sorry." He signed, looking back to Artoria.

After his battle with Berserker, the small group had made their way back to Shirou's home, where he promptly passed out from the damage he had taken during the fight.

Rin wouldn't stop bugging Godrick about how he got so strong, a never ending stream of questions flowing from her mouth.

She could ask all the questions she wanted, but he had no way to communicate back with her. After a while, she gave up, and walked back to Shirou's room, leaving Artoria and him alone together.

Artoria had asked him to continue teaching her, and as a Heroic Spirit, she learned very quickly. Still not as quickly as he would have liked, but it was still progress.

Jeanne and him learned within a night, but that was because they had Fiore there to teach them. Now, Godrick only had himself, and progression was slow.

She could understand about fifty percent of what he was saying if he signed slowly, but there were times that she had to ask him to repeat what he signed.

After a while, Shirou woke up, and Artoria went to tend to him. Godrick left the house, planning to come back later in the night. Walking along the street, he decided to go poke around at the school a little more, to see if he could find any more information about any of the other masters.

Arriving at the school, he decided the best approach would be to wander in spirit form for a little bit.

He didn't find much as he wandered, but he did find someone that piqued his interest. One of the teachers was practicing a type of breathing technique as he walked, as well as some sort of technique to keep his body strong. The man surprised Godrick, as he suddenly looked over to where Godrick was standing, still in spirit form.

After a moment, the man reverted back to his normal disposition, showing no emotion as he sat at his desk and opened a textbook, beginning to read.

After a while of wandering around, Godrick decided to leave the school, and walk around the city.

Materializing in an alleyway, Godrick walked out and began to walk around the city, hoping that revealing himself might provoke another attack from his target, or at least one of the other servants.

He drew many eyes, as he stood head and shoulders above the people here, and while most gave him astonished looks, wondering how he could be so big, others seemed to see him as an eye sore.

Traveling to one of the more 'undesirable' parts of the city, Godrick picked up on the sounds of a woman asking for help, before a wet 'THUNK' was heard, and the woman went silent.

Looking down one of the alleyways, Godrick saw the feet of the woman be placed in a van before it began to drive away.

Quickly dematerializing, he followed the van on foot at a light jog before it came to a building where it stopped, and multiple men got out. Two men grabbed the woman's body, taking it into the building before returning to the van, and grabbing another woman, before returning to grab a third.

Rematerializing, the Juggernaut calmly walked towards the group of men that were standing outside the building, before one turned and looked at him.

"What are you doing here? Turn around and walk away, this is private property!" The man shouted, getting the attention of the other men.

Godrick ignored the man, choosing to continue to walk forward.

"Turn around and walk away!" The man screamed, reaching to his back and pulling out a gun.

Godrick didn't stop, so the man fired his weapon. Godrick looked down at his chest where the bullet hit him, seeing that there was nothing but a hole in his shirt. Shifting his eyes to the man that stood directly in front of him, He slowly reached out, and gripped the man's hand that was holding the gun, letting him empty the whole clip into his chest before crushing the hand, and the gun.

The man screamed in pain, but it was cut off, as Godrick brought his fist down on the man's face, obliterating his skull into a pink mist before he ripped the man's arm from its socket.

Holding the man's right arm, Godrick looked at the other men who seemed to freeze, before they all reached for their backs, pulling out a variety of weapons that Godrick didn't understand.

They all started to open fire, emptying their magazines into Godrick as he approached one after the other, killing them with the first man's arm.

When the arm was no more but paste on the ground mixed with the remains of his most recent victim, Godrick grabbed one of their strange weapons, not understanding how to use it.

He brought it up to his face, looking down the barrel before it suddenly went off, causing Godrick to rear back and start coughing uncontrollably before he stopped, and spat out one of the bullets.

Frustrated at not understanding how to use the weapon, Godrick improvised, throwing it at one of the remaining men, turning his torso into a broken mess of blood and gore.

The last man was on the ground, whimpering as he tried to crawl away, leaving a bloody trail as the remains of his left leg dragged behind him.

Turning around, Godrick gripped the van on both sides of the front, before lifting it into the air effortlessly and walking over to the last man.

The man rolled over onto his back, screaming and holding his hands up as if it would stop the van from completely crushing him. Blood began to leak from under the engine block that was caved in, as Godrick turned around and walked to the building.

Ripping the door from its hinges, Godrick casually tossed it to the side, and walked into a spacious room that was empty, save for a reception desk that was empty, as well as a couple scattered chairs, tables and papers.

Looking to his right, he saw an elevator shaft that was covered by yellow tape, with a stairwell on either side of it. The right stairwell led upstairs, while the left led to the basement. Choosing to go down the left stairwell, Godrick descended, his footsteps ringing out across the empty building, creating an eerie feeling for anyone that heard it.

He descended into the darkness, knowing he was the most monstrous thing lurking in its shadowy depths. As he descended, he came to a long concrete hallway a few floors down. There was no other way to follow, so he continued onwards, his steps ringing down the hall, faint rumblings signifying his position.

He didn't know if the people down here heard the gun fire from above, but it didn't matter. They wouldn't be able to stop him even if they had.

"Stop right there!" A voice said as a man stepped out from one of the doorways lining the hall.

Godrick didn't stop, continuing onward as the man continued to shout at him, proceeding to fire his weapon at the Juggernaut, only to be shocked to see that it didn't do anything.

The man turned around and shouted, calling for more of his companions. About a dozen men or so showed themselves, all firing their guns at the approaching figure, only for him to disappear, shattering the concrete around him. He reappeared right next to the first man, slamming him into the wall behind him, splattering his brains across the wall.

Throwing his fist out, he exploded the next man's head before killing the next. In a matter of moments all twelve men were dead, leaving a bloodbath in the wake of the massive man that continued to walk down the hall.

Soon, Godrick came to another large room with what seemed to have a hundred or so people in it, all holding weapons pointed at the door he came in from. All of them were wearing these strange goggles on their faces before suddenly, the lights went dark, turning the room pitch black.

The only light came from the faint amethyst lines from Godricks arm, before it disappeared and the killing began again.
