"I gather as much." Jules already suspected that the older man was keeping something from his grandchild. "I knew he was trying to tell me something."

But Angelique interrupted them, and then, they forgot all about it. And the opportunity did not present itself again. She never had the chance to ask about it.

"And you want to know what it is." It was not a question but a statement with a hint of interest.

Of course, she was curious. She did not want to be nosy with someone else's business. Nonetheless, she could not stop snooping for answers when a child was involved.

"Do you know the reason?" But that was a dumb question.

Without a doubt, her husband would be privy to Jimmy's reasons for suddenly leaving his grandchild under their care. 

She believed it was not a mere coincidence or lack of other people to care for the child. She concluded that there was more to it than meet the eyes.
