"Damnit! How many flowers does one woman need?"

He stared at the various options before him, debating whether the roses, lilies, tulips or some other variety was the better choice.

He should have let Wenna arrange everything for tonight. But his friend insisted that he should buy his damn flowers and not just ask his assistant to do it for him. 

In this way, his gift became more personal. But it was not as easy as he had thought as his eyes wandered around the colorful selections.

"Not so fast, my friend," Damon remembered his friend stopping him before he could exit the conference room.

His friend's eyes bore to him as if he were examining him under a microscope. "You have been on edge this entire time. Is there another problem? Do you care to share?"

He did not hear suspicion in his friend's voice but only concern and puzzlement. He could not blame him since he behaved uncharacteristically from his typical self.
