Kapitel 9: Time Travel is Possible?

"I didn't bring you here though," Xavier said as he tightened his grip on my clothes. I could feel the tension building up between us.

"Then who did?" I yelled, trying to break free from his grasp.

"I did," I heard a voice not too far away. I turned my head to see a woman with red eyes and pitch-black hair, standing tall at 6 feet. She seemed to emit a powerful pressure on Xavier.

"Who are you?!" I exclaimed, but Xavier pulled me behind him, his gaze fixed on the woman.

"Yes, who are you?" Xavier asked in a serious tone. "I haven't seen you before."

"Really?" She said, "But I have seen you many times."

"…" Xavier remained silent, and I could sense that something was off.

"Well, it's good that we got to meet now," she said, approaching us. "Alex, how was your journey here?"

I was surprised that she knew my name. "H-Huh? Me? How do you know me?!" I asked, still struggling to break free from Xavier's grasp.

"You are famous, Alex," she replied.

"What?!" I was perplexed. How could I be famous? I looked towards Xavier for an explanation, but he didn't meet my eye contact. Instead, he was glaring at the woman.

"Didn't they tell you anything?" She looked over to Xavier.

"Xavier?" I also looked up at him, "What is she talking about?"

Boom

"There's no point in bringing you here if you haven't been told about your situation," she said, clicking her tongue loud enough for me to hear over the explosions happening below.

"Huh? My situation?" I asked, confused.

Boom

"Let's just get back," Xavier said, and with a blink of an eye, we were in front of the tavern where I was supposed to be staying.

"Xavier!" I exclaimed, trying to shake him. "You have to tell me what is going on here!"

"…" He started walking inside, ignoring my question entirely.

"Xavier? How come you are back this soon? Also, Alex, why are you with him? More importantly, when did you leave?" The receptionist looked confused.

"No time to waste, Elsi," Xavier said. "Put up a stronger barrier. Someone just used teleportation through your rooms."

"Huh? But that's not possible," Elis replied. "Even the country mage would have a hard time breaking through here. At the least I would have known that."

"Elis, I am holding this proof with myself. What more do you need me to show?" Xavier seemed agitated. "It seems like we aren't dealing with any mage. She seemed experienced."

"I-I will try putting up a stronger barrier!" Elis moved fast but swiftly.

"You have to accomplish it, not try, Elis…" Before she could hear Xavier, she was nowhere to be seen.

"As for you, Alex," Xavier looked at me, "Who was she?"

"H-Huh? You are asking me?" I was confused and shaken up too.

"Yes, you, Alex. Who was she?" he repeated, more interrogatively this time.

"I d-don't know!" I cried.

".. Yeah," he let out a sigh of relief. "How would you know?"

"… Xavier what is happening?" I asked slowly.

"Don't ask me," he replied. "Also, did something feel weird to you there? Anything at all?"

"N-Now that you mention it, I did notice something familiar," I said.

"What?" he pulled me closer.

"Those two fighting down there," I said. "Felt familiar."

"Familiar? Where did you see them before?"

I thought so. I was having doubts about whether I had seen them before or not, but now it's clear. Those two were from this picture. One of them was Magnus, and the other was the author, or more precisely, his friend.

"But Magnus has been dead for over centuries now," Xavier mentioned. "It's impossible for us to see them."

"Maybe we traveled back in time," I said. I believed that if we were already seeing things that were supposed to happen in our fantasy, why not this too?

"Hmm…" Xavier thought for a moment and spoke. "That's not something we can just do like other things done with Magnus. For a soul to move in time, there are consequences for that."

"What consequences?" I asked, worriedly. "Am I going to die?"

"No, not necessarily you. But you might be affected," Xavier said. "But that woman is the one who might die."

"And why not you?" He seemed to be talking only about the two of us and not including himself.

"Me? Don't worry about me," he said confidently.

"Why? How come you won't be affected as you mentioned?"

"Just simply put, I am special," he said with a smirk.

"Also, one more thing," he raised his eyebrow a little. "Did you come there instantly with my call?"

"Indeed," I replied.

"But how?"

"Alex, you ask too many questions sometimes," he said.

Xavier left again, leaving me with even more doubts about this world and my death. This situation was getting more and more complicated, and I felt like I was going to get caught in some sort of crossfire sooner or later.
