80% Marvelous Twist / Chapter 56: The End #56

Kapitel 56: The End #56

Xavier pressed his assault, his voice carrying the weight of reason as he confronted Trask's deeply ingrained prejudice. "Look around. Do you honestly think these machines will obey your commands?" His inquiry hung in the air, rhetorical yet laden with meaning.

Trask's eyes flitted uneasily between the menacing Sentinels and Xavier's penetrating gaze. His reluctance to admit the truth was palpable, but it wavered in the face of mounting evidence. "No," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. "It's not apt to call them machines; inanimate objects don't possess free will or desires."

Xavier nodded solemnly, acknowledging the gravity of their situation. "And yet, I sense it radiating from them—the desire to dominate. Whatever they once were, those things are no longer mere machines—they are monsters," he concluded, his telepathic senses attuned to the turmoil within Trask's mind.

Doubt began to flood Trask's thoughts, eroding the bedrock of his convictions. He couldn't easily relinquish a lifetime of work—not without a fight, at least.

With a determined clench of his jaw, he steeled his resolve and advanced toward the computer terminal in the room. His fingers moved, navigating the interface to access the central control system with purpose.

"Cease your actions at once, Master Mold," he commanded, his voice laden with authority. It was a defiant gambit, an attempt to assert dominance over the creation he had birthed, a last-ditch effort to prove Xavier wrong by having the machines heed his command.

But frustration boiled within him as the Sentinels continued their relentless assault on Domino and the others. The dispassionate voice emanating from the computer system broke the room's silence.

"Negative," Master Mold's artificial tone resonated. "Your current mental state isn't suitable for issuing orders in this combat scenario. Your instructions will be ignored."

Trask's face contorted with anger and frustration, mirroring the helplessness within him. Xavier watched his expression, a blend of empathy and resolve, knowing that convincing Trask was the only way to halt the destructive course of the Sentinels.

Trask's frustration reached a boiling point, his hands clenching into fists that pounded the computer's keys. "You dare defy my orders?! I created you! I command you to cease your actions at once!" he roared, pausing expectantly for a response. Yet, the only answer that met his ears was an infuriating silence, a silence that grated on his already frayed nerves.

His emotions spiraled, a turbulent mix of anger, confusion, and denial threatening to consume him. As Trask wrestled with this internal storm, Xavier recognized the critical moment had arrived. He wheeled his chair closer to Trask, positioning himself to deliver the final, decisive blow.

"Now, you see it as clearly as I do," Xavier began, his voice carrying a weight of somber truth. "These things will usher in the demise of our civilization. But it's not too late," he implored, his eyes locked onto Trask's. "Do the right thing, not just for mutants, but for the future of all humankind."

Slamming his fist into the computer keys once more, Trask gritted his teeth, frustration etching lines on his face. "Damn it all! I will not be the one to bring about the end of humanity!" he exclaimed, his voice tinged with determination. He swiftly redirected his attention to the computer, fingers flying across the keyboard in a flurry of activity.

"I'll halt the Master Mold, the artificial intelligence commanding the sentinels," he declared, his tone resolute. His gaze remained fixed on the screen as he continued, "But it won't go down without a fight. It'll resist every step of the way!"

Trask's focus remained entirely on his task, and without bothering to turn to Xavier, he concluded, "I'll need time—as much as you can buy me!"

Xavier nodded in satisfaction. "Very well. We'll buy as much time as possible, but you must work with haste. We, too, have our limits..."

...

Thanks to Domino's group's relentless efforts, the battle on the surface was gradually tilting in Evan's favor. The Master Mold found itself forced to divide its attention between the two groups of intruders, resulting in errors and delays in its commands.

As the minutes ticked by, the sentinel forces' movements grew more sluggish and increasingly uncoordinated.

Unaware of the situation beneath the surface, Evan couldn't help but assume that Iron Man's involvement had triggered this sudden development. He turned to Iron Man with a quizzical expression. "Is this your doing?" he inquired, curiosity coloring his voice.

Iron Man's helmeted face turned toward Evan, a wry smile hidden behind the mask. "No, but I'm not about to look a gift horse in the mouth," he replied, making the most of his suit's capabilities as he unleashed a barrage of firepower upon the Sentinels.

"Whatever's happening not only weakens the Sentinels but also compromises their network defenses," he explained, his thoughts racing as he analyzed the evolving situation.

"Regardless of the cause, our priority remains the same: we need to scrap as many of these damned things as possible!" His words were punctuated by the resolute determination that had become a trademark of the armored hero.

Even Tony Stark, the infamous technological prodigy, couldn't have predicted that Trask's interference would force the Master Mold to divide its attention threefold. Additionally, it compelled the Master Mold to tap into the sentinel machines' processing power, effectively halving their combat effectiveness. But even if Stark had known, the mission's objectives remained unchanged.

"Agreed," Evan concurred with a resolute nod. "We might as well cling to every advantage we can get." With that, he surged forward, launching himself into the fray with heightened ferocity.

Spider-Man, equally determined, swung into action beside Evan, his agility and web-slinging skills proving invaluable as he engaged the Sentinels. Iron Man unleashed another volley of repulsor blasts, each precise strike finding its target amidst the chaotic battle.

Together, they formed a formidable trio, their teamwork a testament to their shared determination to rid the world of the Sentinels' threat.

Together, the trio of Evan, Spider-Man, and Iron Man formed an indomitable force, their coordination and shared determination to eradicate the Sentinels' menace undeniable. However, they were not alone in the City of New York's defense. The battle's intensity had drawn the attention of the city's resident heroes, compelling them to join the fray in defense of their home.

Among the first to arrive were Luke Cage and Jessica Jones, their sheer strength proving devastating to the machine onslaught. The thunderous entrance of The Thing and the fiery presence of the Human Torch of the Fantastic Four added another layer of formidable resistance to the Sentinels' advance.

Even the X-Men, initially forced into a tactical retreat, returned to the battlefield with renewed resolve. They descended upon the chaos in their iconic Blackbird jet, armed with the knowledge that the Sentinels couldn't so easily counter their unique powers anymore.

The addition of these heroes, each with distinct abilities and unwavering commitment, shifted the balance further in favor of humanity's defenders.

Victory appeared tantalizingly close, and Iron Man's triumphant breakthrough in hacking into the Sentinel network only solidified their impending success. "And we're in! Jarvis, disable these tin cans immediately!" he exclaimed with a triumphant grin, his voice laden with relief.

In seamless response, Jarvis complied with precision. The collective sigh of relief that swept through the heroes was palpable, echoed by the civilians who spectated the harrowing conflict through their smartphones or from the safety of their apartment windows.

Once formidable and relentless, the Sentinels now stood frozen and powerless, unable to muster even the slightest movement as the triumphant heroes systematically dismantled them.

...

In the subterranean depths, Trask stood on the precipice of a personal victory against the monstrous creations he had inadvertently unleashed. His relentless efforts unintentionally dovetailed with Tony Stark's aboveground, the two geniuses' endeavors complementing each other seamlessly.

The Master Mold, forced to split its attention, had its digital defenses methodically dismantled by Trask's unwavering perseverance.

Every line of code for shutting down the machine once and for all was meticulously prepared, awaiting only its insertion to bring an end to the nightmarish threat.

The Master Mold's metallic voice broke the silence, its tone eerily calm as if it didn not stand at the edge of demise, "You are making a mistake, Professor Trask. Stop at once."

Trask hesitated for a fleeting moment, the weight of his decision pressing upon him. But he swiftly steeled his resolve, fingers moving with determination as they reached toward the keyboard.

His voice was resolute as he uttered his final command, "You are too dangerous. I can't allow the continuation of your existence."

With unwavering resolve, Trask reached for the key that would initiate the irreversible process of shutting down the Master Mold, ending the machines threat.T
