Kapitel 876: -865- A favorable impression?

"Protecting me?"

Rozen was initially surprised, then turned his head towards the source of the voice.

In the next second, Rozen saw a figure slowly approaching.

"It's you?"

Rozen raised an eyebrow.

The newcomer was Medea.

"Hello, I am a Servant of the Caster class, with the true name Medea."

Medea hastily greeted Rozen, seeming a bit reserved in both attitude and behavior. It wasn't shyness but rather an uncertainty about the appropriate distance and demeanor toward Rozen, making her appear somewhat constrained.

"This princess seems a bit inexperienced in the ways of the world," Rozen thought.

Rozen couldn't believe that this Medea would later become the infamous witch who betrayed her own brother, committing many cruel acts for the sake of Jason.

Of course, knowing the myths, Rozen understood it wasn't Medea's fault. The girl was initially carefree, and her tragic later life was a result of a curse from the gods.

Considering this, Rozen couldn't adopt a too harsh attitude toward Medea.

So...

"You say Berserker is protecting me? Was that your decision?"

Rozen inquired.

This seemed to relieve Medea, who nodded and then shook her head.

"To prevent a recurrence of the previous incident with the Mad King, the Servants did discuss the need to leave at least one to protect you. Originally, it was Miss Mash's task, but for some reason, when we realized it, Berserker was already guarding the door, not letting anyone in. Even we didn't anticipate this."

Medea explained, looking at Berserker with a puzzled expression, confirming the authenticity of her words.

"Really?"

Even Rozen found it surprising.

"That Berserker would voluntarily want to protect me?"

This was something he hadn't dared to think about before.

After all, this half-divine hero had almost completely lost his sanity, was uncontrollable, and had previously only relentlessly attacked Rozen. Now, suddenly doing something like this was genuinely astonishing.

But upon closer reflection, Berserker had previously made several moves to protect Rozen from the Mad King's attacks. Now, doing the same thing didn't seem so strange.

However...

"Why?"

Rozen really wanted to know.

"We don't know." Medea shook her head. After hesitating for a moment, she uncertainly added, "Perhaps Berserker actually has a favorable impression of you?"

This statement left Rozen speechless.

Berserker has a favorable impression of him?

...Feels a bit terrifying.

Rozen glanced in Berserker's direction, only to see the hero standing there like a statue, his face as stoic as rock.

"Never mind."

Rozen decided to put this matter aside. After all, it was something he wouldn't get an answer to. As long as it didn't harm him, he accepted it.

On the other hand, Medea...

"Please rest assured, we won't be your enemies anymore." Medea lowered her head, almost pleading, "So, could you please help Lord Jason lift the curse?"

Upon hearing this, Rozen raised an eyebrow.

"It seems you've tried to look into the curse within Jason," Rozen remarked with a certain implication.

This was something he had anticipated.

It was only natural for Jason to seek ways to lift the curse with Medea present. With her expertise as a mage of the divine era, she should be able to find a solution to any curse.

However...

"I not only couldn't lift the curse, but I couldn't even sense the magical energy or existence of the spell. I was completely helpless, leading Lord Jason to scold me severely," Medea said, a bit disheartened and resigned.

Seeing this, Rozen finally couldn't help but ask a question that had been on his mind.

"Why are you so devoted to Jason?"

Rozen genuinely couldn't comprehend. Even though she was summoned in her younger days, it didn't mean Medea was ignorant of her future fate.

Heroic Spirits were recorded on the outer side of the world, and when summoned as a Servant, they would appear in the period of their life relevant to the circumstances. However, the memories of events from their past lives weren't lost without a reason.

For instance, Rama was summoned as a youth but vividly remembered defeating Ravana and becoming the King of Kosala. Medea, summoned in her younger days, should remember everything about her future and what she would face.

So, when it came to memories of their past lives, Servants wouldn't inexplicably lose them. Only memories after death would be lost.

In other words, if summoned as a Servant and then dying, the memories of their time as a Servant wouldn't be retained when summoned again. They would only have memories from their living period.

For example, Atalanta completely had no recollection of the events in the first singularity in France, didn't know she had gone berserk, and committed many brutal acts, and was unaware she had died by Rozen's hand. This was proof.

Of course, this wasn't absolute. In some special cases, even if they died once, when summoned again as a Servant, they might retain memories from their previous Servant period.

Like Berserker vaguely remembering being defeated by Rozen and Mash during the singularity in Fuyuki.

This rapid collapse might have led to this singularity's native inhabitants being pushed into a corner, facing extinction. The accelerated collapse caused chaos and anomalies, resulting in the summoning of Greek Servants and Berserker having some memories from other singularities.

This wasn't guaranteed and might just be a coincidence.

Otherwise, besides Berserker, Atalanta should also remember the events of the first singularity. This indicated that it was a very occasional, uncertain occurrence.

In summary, the memories of Servants after death couldn't be confirmed. However, memories from their past lives, existing as pure records, couldn't be lost without a cause.

Unless someone intentionally erased Medea's memories.

But was that possible?
