Kapitel 45: Fight in the shadows
As Ken approached his guards, Tokuchi reminisced about the day when Ken approached him, requesting ten elite shinobi to serve under his command.
Initially, Tokuchi suspected that Ken's demeanor had shifted due to the sudden power and political influence he had gained as an elder. Tokuchi not only served as Ken's sensei but also held the position of clan head for the Explosive Release Kekkai Genkai clan. Their allegiance was unwaveringly to Tsuchikage Onoki, and no one outside their clan had the authority to issue orders. Even the village elders dared not tread on their clan's territory to give commands.
One of the elders, who shared a clan connection with Onoki, had once attempted to assert his dominance over them, resulting in only his right hand returning to the Tsuchikage's office. This incident had caused turmoil in the village, but Onoki had swiftly appointed a new elder. Onoki understood the inherent drawbacks of the Explosive Release technique: an overwhelming obsession with explosions, combat, and an arrogant demeanor ingrained in their nature, much like the Uchihas of Konoha and the Bone Release users of Kirigakure. This was precisely why Onoki had refrained from considering Tokuchi as the next Tsuchikage candidate.
Yet, Tokuchi couldn't help but be curious about Ken's motive for wanting ten elite shinobi under his command. Ken had been taken aback initially, expecting his sensei to arrange it without conditions, but he knew he had to clarify his intentions.
"Tokuchi-sensei, I intend to gather new ninjutsu techniques and scrolls for the village," Ken explained.
Tokuchi contemplated, "Ken, I understand your desire to explore new jutsu, but our Explosive Release is a closely guarded secret technique. I can't simply provide it openly."
"Sensei, you've misunderstood me. I plan to borrow jutsu from other ninja villages," Ken clarified.
"Borrow, you say?" Tokuchi furrowed his brow, puzzled by Ken's expression, which reminded him of the eerie smile he had seen when Ken first joined his team.
Clearing his throat, Tokuchi continued, "Ken, you must realize that openly borrowing jutsu from other villages could lead to dissatisfaction and a tarnished reputation among our neighbors."
"Sensei, I'm aware of that. That's why I intend to acquire them during the Uzumaki clan's destruction, focusing on special jōnins and elite chūnins. This way, other villages are less likely to take offense."
Tokuchi nodded, acknowledging Ken's meticulous planning. "You've thought this through, Elder Ken. In my capacity as the clan head of the Explosive Release Kekkai Genkai clan and the leader of the Explosive Corps, I accept the task you've entrusted to me. I'll assist you in every way possible."
