Kapitel 45: "I want to sleep with you"

Exhausted beyond measure, Alla had no energy left for aimless pondering. She took a soothing bath and retreated to her room for sleep. She slept heavily until the following afternoon, close to three o'clock. Her propensity for sleep seemed to be intensifying.

She was aware that those in the advanced stages of her condition would face an escalation of symptoms, but she chose not to dwell on it. For her, it was a matter of enduring as long as she could. After all, death was a fate all would eventually meet; it was merely a question of time, and there was no sense in grieving over it.

Entering the kitchen, she prepared a simple meal: a bowl of millet porridge accompanied by some vegetables. It was more than sufficient for her. As she sipped her porridge, she answered a video call from Maggie.
