Ron felt himself getting knocked off of the floor as an intense pain assaulted his chest. His half-broken wand flew through the air. Time seemed to have slowed down for him as he saw another streak of light heading towards him but instead of hitting him, it passed by him from the side.
He accepted his face as he closed his eyes, bracing for the impact but only felt something soft on his back. He opened his eyes, looking surprised but the only thing that greeted his eyes was the cold, hard floor.
Alex turned to look at Snape, "That was how you did it right?"
"You went overboard. If not for your cushioning charm, I'm afraid he would have broken a few bones. Good job."
"Thank you, Professor.", he said as he walked back down and waited for the next pair.
Ron walked down a few seconds later and thanked him before heading over to his Gryffindor group. Fate worked in mysterious ways as Malfoy and Harry were called upon the stage and everything went according to what Alex had expected.
'Weird, but interesting…. Seems like this so-called butterfly effect doesn't really have too much of an effect or maybe I have to wait for a few more years?'
While Alex was deep in thought, Ginny who was a few meters away from him, fainted. The whole gathering had to be dismissed due to the various accidents but Snape stared at Harry as the boy exited the Great Hall.
'Is there a connection?'
**********
Alex packed his things and left the grounds to board the Hogwarts Express along with Neville, Hermione, Aman and a few others he was close with.
Aman, Hannah, Susan, and Aman's cousin Jane took one compartment to themselves while Alex, Neville, Hermione, and Luna took one.
It was a peaceful ride back to platform nine and three-quarters where Toffy quietly waited for Alex.
Alex bid his friends farewell and walked towards his elf, "Let's go. We have a lot to do after all."
********
Alex stared at the two kids for a few seconds before glancing back at Nyeta, "So…. They're called Lucio and Luciana?"
"Mhm.", Nyeta nodded as she hugged the twins.
Alex rubbed his temples and shook his head, 'Oh god… I thought he was my own kid. Looks like there's something else at play here.'
"Okay… I'll go get your husband tomorrow. I'll try my best so you don't have to worry."
He received a nod in response and headed to bed as he wanted to be in his best condition before going on a dangerous mission.
Early morning the next day, he sat with Toffy and placed both his wands on the table.
"Hey Toffy, I got this weird feeling when I used magic with the new wand I bought from Olivanders and after I got that feeling, I never got it again until I used magic against that buff dude a few months ago. I have a feeling that it is related to the underage magic tracking thing but I want to hear your opinion on this matter. Do you have an idea of what's happening right now?"
"The tracking spell, master. Your first wand was crafted by your father so it didn't have a tracking spell on it but the one you bought from Olivanders did. Once you enter Hogwarts castle while you are equipped with a wand that has a tracking spell, the spell gets activated and moves into you.
From that point onwards, the ministry will get notified anytime you do magic or anyone does magic near you."
"So, it was as I expected…. Do you know how to take this tracking thing off of me?"
"No master, I do not know how to take it off. I do know the person who can do it for you but it will require force as the person won't listen if you ask directly."
"You mean Olivander?"
Toffy nodded and Alex sighed in response, "I really didn't want to get too involved with him this early on… all right, we have to do some preparations."
***********
Olivanders finished working on his latest wand and put it in a clean box before placing it along with his other wands on one of the shelves. He then walked to the door, flipped the sign to (close) and headed to the back of the store.
He picked up a small bag and took out a handful of floo powder before walking over to the fireplace. He was about to throw the powder in but stopped when he felt a presence in the room.
He turned around and saw no one. He shrugged, thinking that it was just a feeling, and threw the powder into the fireplace before walking in. He said his address and was about to vanish when he felt something or someone hold his arm tight.
"Wha-"
The surroundings had changed and it was clearly not his house. It was a cave and a dark one at that. The hand that held him was gone and he looked around nervously as he went for his wand.
The moment he took out his wand, it was pulled out of his hand by a force he couldn't fight against.
"Just… what do you want? Please. Just leave me alone. I believe I have done nothing to you."
"Nothing? Don't delude yourself, old man.", said a loud distorted guttural voice. The sound echoed and it didn't help in calming down.
"I- if you could tell me what I did wrong, I will correct my mistake, dear sir."
"You see, my son bought a wand from you recently and the tracking spell took effect. I hate the idea of being spied on. Yes, even if my son is underage, I do not like people tracking him. We move around to different places to teach him things and the tracking spell just makes it hard."
"Why would you want to take your child to different places when you can just send him to Hogwarts or some other school?"
"Ollivander…. You tell me. Hogwarts teaches a lot of things but there is one thing that it doesn't teach."
"…. Dark arts?"
"Goooood. You do use your brain, I see. So tell me now, how do I remove the tracking spell?"
"I'm sorry sir, but I will not do a thing about it. If you want it removed, please go to the ministry."
"So I can get sent to Azkaban? Yeah, great idea. Looks like you aren't willing."
"I am not, sir."
"All right then, looks like we will have to do it the hard way. Do you have relatives or children? Oh, don't worry, I won't go after them since I already have you. I just wanted to send them some apology letters for a soon-to-be missing person."
Olivander didn't say a single word and simply stood in place as a small bead of sweat rolled down his wrinkly face. He took a deep breath to calm himself down.
"You won't do a thing to me. You need the knowledge and you will not kill me until you get what you want and the moment you get what you want, I will die. Am I wrong?"
"Yes. I'll let you go since you don't know who I am but if you don't tell me what I need, I'll just take it from your head. Yes, I'll be taking it forcefully. Oh and, occlumency doesn't work as I will be stripping your soul off of your body."
"Soul magic? Are you from… "
Alex cut him off with a smack on his mouth with his wand, "Where I am from is none of your concern. I will give you one last chance, Olivander. Only one chance. You have two minutes to decide if you want to live or die."
Olivander did just that as his breaths echoed through the cave, amplifying the creepiness.
"You will get what you want either way…. But I still refuse to stand with evil. I do not want to repeat the same mistakes I've made in the past."
"All right then, suit yourself.", Alex said and pointed his wand at Olivander's head.
"Any last wishes?"
"Well…. Just let me take a look at your wand and you. I know that you are not an adult. It's either that or you're way too short."
This time it was Alex who went silent. It was only after a few seconds that he gave Olivander an answer.
"Lumos…."
"Oh… so it was you.", Olivander said and shook his head, sighing lightly, "I just hope you don't walk the path that you-know-who has walked."
"You don't have to worry. I'll never walk the same path as that idiot. Yes, he's a genius at magic and all but he still fell hard for Dumbledore's traps. He's done a lot more dumb things but let's not talk about those. As for my wand…. You should be able to remember."
Olivander nodded and smiled, "Could you make it less painful?"
"That depends on you.", he said and pointed his wand at Olivander's temple before flicking towards himself, making a thin stand of silvery cloud shoot out and curl itself into a ball.
Olivander looked peaceful for a few seconds but after a while, he clenched his teeth and his whole body jerked violently.
Alex simply shook his head, 'This guy still tried to hide things… poor him. This is why knowledge is important. What's the point of dying when you are unable to do what you wanted to?'
The thin strand slowly became thicker until it was as thick as an adult thumb. Alex didn't hold back as he didn't feel like giving Olivander a painless death when he didn't listen to him.
An hour later, the old frail body fell onto the ground as Alex observed the silvery ball.
"Let's go. Put him back in his shop. Someone will find him when they don't see him answer. Oh and clean him up for me, please."
Toffy nodded and did as he was told while Alex cleaned up the crime scene. Olivander had peed and excreted during the process so he had no other choice but to do it.
"Oof… I didn't want to kill him but it had to be done for my own freedom. Thank you for your experience and knowledge, mister Olivander."
After thanking the dead person, he brought the silvery ball toward his temple and pushed it inside.
"Ugh!", he groaned as he fell down to his knees. Toffy apparated back near him and a few minutes passed in suffering. Blood dripped off of his nose, eyes, and ears but he was able to keep himself conscious.
The main in his head was so harsh that he didn't even notice the blood dripping off. It took him more than a day to absorb all the knowledge and information from the silvery ball.
After everything was done, he sat back up and looked down at his clothes which were drenched with sweat. Dried blood made it hard for him to make any facial expressions but that was the thing that helped him realize that there was blood on his face and neck.
He cleaned himself up and cast a few spells on himself to disable the tracking spell. It was a very simple spell that just wasn't available to the public masses.
"Who would have expected that he would die to protect such a simple spell… oh well, the best thing I got was his experience in making wands heheheheheee."
"Master, you have things to do…"
"Oh yes. Let's go. Take me to the mansion."
Toffy nodded and held his arm tight before apparating from that location.
*******
Alex used every single thing he had along with the suit that Toffy usually wore, the hand of glory equipped with a candle, and the green glove that he didn't know the name of.
The light-sucking ability of the green glove went well with the stealth ability of the hand of glory. People panicked when they were suddenly unable to see and there was absolute silence as they couldn't hear their own voice.
