Kapitel 19: Fenrir

An eerie yet calming tone was hushed by it as it swayed its body behind us, overseeing everything while its silhouette covered me.

With its composed demeanor, gazing over us with ease. Truly an intelligent creature, according to what Grand had told me.

Its eyes were as bright as my golden, reddish pupils, akin to a golden gem entangled with radiant red pearls. It has an overwhelming body that reaches ten meters in height and purple fur that is as sharp as the newly sharpened blades. And its claws were sharp, along with the two fangs that overlapped its mouth.

A creature that lurks in the deepest parts of the forest even said that it is truly rare to encounter it due to its being secretive.

A magnificent creature similar to a wolf, the legendary Fenrir

Yet why is it here? It should be in the deepest parts of the forest." Arthur pondered, frozen on his feet while unable to comprehend why a being such as the Fenrir would come to their location.

Its gaze was so piercing that it inflicted fear on us without even moving.

I glanced at both sides, only to notice that my party members were also frozen, as if they were standing, awaiting their deaths.

Meanwhile, Sir Heinz isn't bothered by the overwhelming presence in front of us. Just what is he?" Arthur mumbled in his head, wondering as to how Heinz could keep such composure in front of the fenrir.

"Wow, It's cute." I mumbled, staring at the beast in front of me.

Arthur and the others overheard what I said and flinched.

"You must not get closer to it, Sir Heinz!" Arthur yelled to me, wearing a not-so-good expression.

[Analyzing...]

"That creature is a fenrir! A mythical being!" Rosalie shouted, informing me about the beast that stood before us.

I see. A fenrir, huh?" I mumbled in my head, staring at it from top to bottom while it gazed at my existence.

[Monster Trait: Intelligent and Loyal]

Eh? Loyal?" I wondered in confusion after looking at its trait.

But the fenrir did not move and just stood its ground while staring at us. Then I noticed that something dripped from its body and fell to the ground.

As I observed it carefully, I noticed it was blood.

"Help..."

"Is it wounded? And did it just speak?" I muttered, and before I could do anything, I saw Arthur, Lucas, and Tate pass by me in a hurry with their weapons tightly held, wearing serious expressions as they headed straight towards the fenrir in front of me.

"Wait!" I yelled, attempting to stop them since I felt something strange about the fenrir that approached us.

And as they all got close to the fenrir, It collapsed and fell to the ground while Arthur jumped above and was ready to strike the fenrir in one single swing.

Without me realizing it, my body moved as if it were instinctive and stopped the three from attacking the fenrir.

In the blink of an eye, Tate and Lucas were sent flying while I stood in front of Arthur, holding the tip of his blade with my mere fingertips.

"Huh?" Arthur mumbled in surprise, unable to believe that I stopped his attack just by grabbing the tip of his blade.

"You mustn't attack the fenrir." I said, while Rosalie and Rin stood from a certain distance and observed us with baffled expressions on their faces.

"What's wrong with you? How could you send me flying?" complained Lucas, who got up from the ground and wiped off the dust on his clothes.

I just slightly pushed them, though; how did they end up so far away?" I mumbled inside my head while glancing at Lucas, who was further away from our position.

[Notice: Your strength is far too powerful. If you do not want to accidentally kill anyone, please learn to restrain a bit of your force.]

Eh..."

"Why are you stopping me, Sir Heinz? It's our chance to slay the fenrir!" yelled Arthur, budging his sword from my grasp with all of his strength.

The fenrir was completely unconscious while Lucas and Tate were walking towards us.

Its voice, which I heard, was very low yet still audible. It seemed troubled or like something that muttered help. Was I the only one who heard the fenrir's voice?" I wondered, looking strangely at the fenrir's unconscious state.

"It's wounded!" Rin yelled, pulling Rosalie's hand as she ran closer towards us.

Arthur glanced and noticed blood slowly covering the ground. And with that, they all sheathed their weapons again.

"It's really wounded. Who could even hurt a fenrir? I know no one who's in the caliber of fighting a fenrir and ending up wounding it this severely," Lucas muttered, scratching the back of his head while gazing at the fenrir's body.

Rosalie observed, only to see a red gem intact at its wounded left front arm, and knew who were the ones responsible.

"It's them." she said as her complexion turned pale.

I just listened to them while they all suddenly flinched without mentioning any names as to who was the culprit for the fenrir's severe state.

"You mean, them?" Tate asked after gulping, staring at Rosalie's eyes intently.

"Yes, the only ones who can use dark magic are them, the Slavirs." Rosalie uttered, while her body slightly trembled.

"That gem that's stuck on the fenrir's wound is coated with dark absorption magic, a magic-imbued gem that acts like a leech and sucks the life force and magical energy of the targeted host." She continued explaining, and Arthur and the others, along with me, were just quietly listening to Rosalie's explanation about the red gem that's currently stuck at the fenrir's wound.

Hey Grand, do you sense Dark magic in that gem?" I asked through thought communication, wondering if Grand's analysis could somehow look into it.

[Notice: My analysis can only be used for specific things; detecting magic and analyzing individual's skills are out of the category.]

I see, so we still can't determine if that thing really has dark absorption magic. I guess I could only rely on Rosalie's words for now since they're far more knowledgeable than us in terms of this world's knowledge." I replied, but Grand somehow felt provoked.

[You can still use the Shop and learn new skills. Words of humans cannot be guaranteed by a hundred percent. Therefore, refrain from trusting too much.]

Eh? Are you angry, by any chance?"

[Answer: No.]

Okay..."

I totally forgot that I can still use the shop. Thinking about it, I guess I can still learn skills, especially now that I have many magical energies to act as the shop's currency.

"Sir Heinz?"

I guess I should open the store later.

"Sire Heinz?" Arthur raised his voice, waving his hand in front of my face.

"Eh! I'm sorry, I was deeply in thought." I said, coughing a bit and standing firmly.

"What are we going to do about the fenrir?" Arthur asked, looking into my eyes with the intention of leaving it be.

I glanced at it and knew that in its last seconds of being conscious, it asked me for help.

"Rin, you can use healing, right?" I asked.

Rin nodded and walked forward and said, "But that wound is too severe for me to heal. The fenrir is on death's doorstep. It's also wounded with dark absorption magic, so it will only fend off the healing spell in an instant."

So in other words, she's saying that healing the fenrir won't do, right?" I mumbled inside my head.

[Answer: Yes, but there is a skill that you can purchase in the store and heal the fenrir entirely.]

Is there such a skill? Why did you just tell me now?"

[Because I never knew you intended to heal the fenrir.]

Nevermind about it, let me open the shop quickly."

I immediately told Arthur and the others to back off a bit while Grand summoned the Shop in front of me.

A large holographic tabloid appeared before me. I glanced at the others, but I guess I was the only one who could see the system's holographic tabloids.

It felt nostalgic as ever; looking at it, I just can't bear that I'm in reality while having a game-like system.

"Now let's find it." I mumbled, grinning in a way that made the others uncomfortable while I swayed my hands in a blank place where they could not see a thing.

What's he doing?" The five of them wondered while staring at me with suspicion of being paranoid.

Chapter End.
