Kapitel 44: Forward

The sea blue screen pressed in his vision.

[Ding! For reaching a 5 times win streak in the arena, you have earned the skill: Battle Instinct] ]

Examining it's effects, the corner of Adam's lip pulled up slightly.

[Battle Instinct: You possess a keen sense for battle, your reaction speed is slightly improved.]

He possessed the combat aptitude skill, with this, his ability to fight would be raised.

Adam's exhaustion from fighting Umbrul setting in, he took a day break from fighting, visiting the healers.

He doubted he would be fighting the champion, in the chance he had to, he had to be in great condition.

More likely, however, he would be fighting strong, but not excellent fighters.

Returning to the arena, he signed up for a match.

He was getting used to fighting with a halberd now.

The thought crossed his mind that perhaps he should try a different weapon out.

As he was at the arena, it would be the best place to stretch his wings, and try out different weapons.

Unfortunately, he did not possess other weapons to practice with.

There too was the component of using one's whole strength against their enemy in the arena.

He did not want to become someone who disrespected their opponent, if they did not slight him.

Adam walked down the passageway, his halberd in his hand, his armor shined.

Emerging from the passageway, Adam's name echoed from the audience. His name shrieked from the stands, louder than the previous match.

It felt strange, Adam had to admit.

To be cheered for, on Earth, that wasn't an option.

No... it was not something he dared to try for.

Sighing, his gaze fell to his first opponent for the day.

A man with dull brown hair was wearing a set of chainmail armor, and wielded an iron sword.

As he read his info, from the system, he couldn't help but shake his head.

Tension that had slightly built up, having been challenged in the last two matches seriously, collapsed.

[Handruun Bartou: Level 16 Human, Warrior: Arena Newcomer.]

Stepping up to each other, Adam stated: "Best of luck."

Lightly nodding, Handruun chuckled: "Sure, but luck is not needed."

Exhaling, a frown shifted onto Adam's face.

The declaration for the start of the match boomed through the seats onto the fighting pit.

Adam sprinted forward, his halberd grasped tightly, he cleaved towards Handruun.

Handruun slashed his blade, the metal blade of the halberd meeting the sword.

A clang echoed.

Crashing back, Handruun's blade fell to his waist.

Adam's halberd was as still as a statue.

As they were bringing it back up, Adam swept his halberd's haft over Handruun's face.

The strike flung his head back, as he staggered for half a step, before he cratered to the ground.

His gaze hazy, Handruun looked up, muttering: "What just happened-"

Adam thought: 'Still not giving up?'

Dashing over to him, Adam struck his abdomen, a snap resounded, rolling Handruun over in the sand.

Handruun slightly lifted his head, groaning, before his head smashed back into the sand.

His eyes now closed, he laid unconscious.

Adam mused, scrutinizing the sprawled out Handruun: "Yeah, not everyone can be as strong as Jinna or Umbrul."

He walked away, the crowd's wild cheering at his back.

The announcer widely smiling, screamed: "Adam takes home an easy win, his opponent no longer able to move, now possessing a six win streak!"

Adam immediately signed up for another match.

His interest was to help the Violetstone's overcome their financial crisis.

Not getting challenged is simply background noise to that objective.

He speculated that there may be rewards for getting a higher streak.

For now, he would focus on that, as he awaited his eventual battle against the champion.

It never hurt to be more prepared than not.

Preparation that did not aid him now, could very well help him later.

Having taken a swig of water, he was soon back out in the fighting pit.

The next opponent of the day in front of them.

Adam's frown deepened, his halberd pulled to his side, he advanced.

His opponent was a blonde male dwarf, who wielded a hammer, a blue screen hovering before Adam,

[Matson Hammbuld: Level 17 Dwarf, Warrior, Arena fledgling.]

Taking a deep breath, the match soon commenced.

The glare of the sun in Adam's face, he jabbed his halberd towards Matson.

The impact caused Matson's hammer to be flung over his shoulder as he was thrown off his feet.

Adam's halberd hardly shook.

Cutting through the air, a few feet off the ground, Matson swiftly smashed down, dragging up a pile of sand.

Matson lying still, his eyes glazed over, Adam leaned onto his halberd, sighing.

He looked up, the crowd swarming the seats and gave a thumbs up.

The crowd ate it up, and roared louder.

Declaring the end of the match, the announcer exclaimed: "Adam wins once more, a seven time win streak on his shoulders!"

Heading back inside, Adam smirked.

He thought: 'If you celebrate a seven times win streak that much, he had little choice but to keep doing his best.'

Having hardly broken a sweat, his strength stat putting in the work, he rested for an hour.

Shortly after, the third match of the day started.

Adam's gaze was calm as he evaluated his third opponent.

His opponent this time was a tall human who brandished a sword and a oak shield, but, having read his details, that was all.

The match begun in mere moments, and he strode towards his opponent.

Adam's confident stride caused his opponent to slightly falter back, strengthening their stance.

Accelerating, he appeared before his opponent.

They held their shield up, as Adam struck down with his halberd.

However, their knees made a popping sound as Adam's halberd cracked and then shattered their oaken shield.

Momentum carrying through, his halberd's haft struck his enemy's temple.

His guard broken, their sword falling from their grasp, they spiraled like a skipped stone through a foot of sand.

Adam stood before his dazed, sand covered opponent who weakly muttered: "I surrender."

To the cheering of the audience, the announcer stated: "Amazing! Adam now has a eight win streak!"

Adam pumping his fist in the air, nodded at the audience and announcer.

Swiftly, he returned to the reception hall of the coliseum and walked up to the manager, to schedule another match.

His condition was far from strained.

Adam's stamina with the enhanced stamina skill, made fighting continuously easier.

And with that one fatigue skill, Adam gave his complements to the system.

He was getting a decent number of skills. Nothing groundbreaking, but they sure added up.

The manager, observing his great condition, permitted Adam to fight more than three times in a day.

The sunlight still blared strongly, as he entered the fighting pit for his fourth match of the day.

'Soon.' Adam thought: 'I reach the next milestone.', as he faced down his opponent.

The sand brushing him, his eyes latched to his opponent, as he listened to the cry of the announcer.

His eyes narrowed, his breath calm, Adam blitzed forward.
