Over the course of the next few weeks, Adam focused on improving himself.
Be it his physical condition, or the depth of his knowledge about Randail, he worked hard on making up for his weaknesses.
There were many unknowns that had to be slowly solved and that required sufficient strength to seek out the answers to.
The risks he took in the past to take to prove himself, were enough to know how his view of himself, and the world had changed.
During these days, he had reached level 15, that netted him 25 stat points.
He made sure to level when he had the chance. As to be able to use the stat points at the drop of a hat.
If he were to risk his life by delaying leveling, he could come to regret it.
Although he did not reach a noteworthy new level, he had gained a wealth of knowledge, cementing plans of what he wanted to do in the future. In addition, a better idea of how he may approach the quest given by King Lucius of slaying the Demon King.
The largest gain was the completed set of ordered gear.
The gear had taken two and a half weeks to be crafted. The craftsmanship, that Adam had mere laymen's knowledge of, looked excellent.
The halberd that was crafted sublimely, was a silver, with the edges of the tips of the blades being green. Complementing the halberd was a set of plated armor, which like the halberd had in a matching shade of green, but otherwise had the classic steel look.
The weight of the equipment was nearly too heavy to be used currently. Nevertheless, that was but a temporary issue that would be fixed when he raised his strength stat.
The extra weight that would bear down on him, that would exhaust him faster. But, staying still alive was better than was moving to one's deathbed faster. In novels, there was novelty in being swift, but, Adam appreciated the fine stability of power more.
Precision and power together would be more ideal, but getting such a combination would not be feasible in the near future.
Vilgrand didn't use precious materials in the crafting process, regardless the equipment would be a good start for him.
Adam stored the gear away in his room. He would use it in training soon, when his stats had raised a bit more. He gathered from the past few weeks, that it was not an easy task to improve his stats just by training.
Normally at least.
If he used the added weight, to amplify the intensity of the training, there could be additional merits, but he would have to see.
In this period that Adam spent improving himself, Adam had gotten slightly closer with Elaina.
It turned out that Elaina was interested in novels too, but more traditional ones, and hadn't really read much outside of it.
Adam otherwise socialized minimally. His few conversations being a couple questions he asked Merandin, and a bit of banter between Areis and himself and greeting Versces on occasion.
The King hadn't summoned them to the throne room since the instatement of Merandin as the heroes instructor.
Once amid a conversation with Elaina, he had a slight urge to preach about the splendors of online novels, but he held back.
He wasn't on Earth anymore, there was no need to cling to his memories of literature through socializing with fellow Earthlings about it.
While Vinn and Marcaine had yet to seriously attempt to socialize with Adam. Although, Vinn had started up a few conversations in the dining hall with Elaina.
Social dynamics always changed depending on whether a person was or wasn't there. A person can act one way with one person. But, have another person show who they may not get along with and they may keep a distance.
Adam had plans to become an adventurer, when he became stronger.
It was better to obtain experience than theoretical knowledge of how to do things. Whilst Merandin had experience, actually being there and being told of happenings had a day and night difference.
Through studying under Merandin, he learned of the sheer variety of races in the world. Beastfolk, elves, dwarves, with more uncommon races, like golems.
There were many encounters he could look forward to.
His desire to see the sights of the world grew with each passing day. But, equaling it was his accumulating knowledge of this world's dangers. It would not be too late to tour the world once he possessed the prowess to take down the Demon King.
Another important piece of information that Adam learned about from Merandin was the level of the Demon King. Although an estimate, the Demon King was believed to be level 70.
Adam with this in mind, spent his acquired stat points on strength, allowing him to wear the equipment smoothly.
He threw himself back into training and learning.
When he entered the world, he had to be prepared.
He couldn't act rash because he had a system, and some strong skills.
He shouldn't rest on his laurels, just because he got experience passively either.
Adam expected more of himself, and Erustus demanded the most.
Not wanting to see lives taken, that could be avoided, his life continued in the castle.
The days passed, the few weeks there, becoming a month then two.
Adam's hands were on his hips, as he looked over the training field.
In the distance, Areis and the other knights sharing a slight grin.
Adam's eyes serious as he walked forward.
The contours of sunlight that landed on his body casting a slimmer shadow.
Adam brought his fist to the front of his face, examining it.
His fingers drawn into a fist, no longer as pudgy.
Adam had lost much of the fat that entrapped his nightmares on Earth.
Changing his gaze towards his legs, Adam remarked: 'Change is possible.'
Though he wasn't in miraculous condition, he was nearly at the starting point.
Shortly after, he shifted his gaze behind him, his eyes landing on the castle.
He would be setting out soon.
