Kapitel 22: Knowledge

His mood lifted from the growth he had experienced, the rest of the day passed quickly for Adam.

Adam in the following day's early morning was led through the hall, by an attendant. At the end was the classroom.

Adams pace was brisk as he strode into the doorway of the classroom.

Seeing the three other heroes as he entered confirmed that he was the last person there.

Positioned within, were rows of escalating seats were stacked against each other.

A wide blackboard, void of chalk marks, filling the other end of the otherwise barren room.

Adam took a look around.

His eyes locking on a empty seat, he sat in the backmost left. In contrast, Elaina was seated in the front row, Marcaine at the center and Vinn sat at the backmost right.

Within minutes, tapping, measured footsteps, followed by a louder rhythmic thudding sounded.

Staggering through the doorway was Merandin, his figure cloaked, his hood drawing a grim shadow. Peering under his hood were his vibrant lavender eyes.

He walked forward, his staff which wrapped on itself struck the ground causing an echo.

Adam and the other heroes waited in an engulfing silence.

Soon, his voice raspy clawed from his throat: "Hello there, heroes of Erustus."

Merandin's gaze wandered from each person.

His voice sharp said: "It is my duty that you, the summoned heroes, in the task of ridding the land of the demon lord, are informed about Erustus and Randail."

A cough surging, he continued: "Erustus, is powerful, and prosperous, as a kingdom. However, it borders the land of demons: Redalae."

"As King Lucius, his Majesty stated, you heroes are the key to overcoming the stalemate between us and the demons."

Merandin thrust his staff on the ground, everyone's eyes brightened in alert.

He continued to explain: "To best aid in this effort, information, besides realizing your potential as heroes is the best path in defeating the demons."

"On this front, I shall strive to educate you all, for a time, on the history of the world, it's cultures, and of magic."

Merandin's speech continued: "To start, the world began with..."

After two and a half hours, the lecture ended.

In this time, Adam absorbed the information like a sponge.

Through the lecture, he was able to learn about the worlds many races, nations, and more.

The knowledge helped fill in the missing info he had made assumptions about.

Having plenty of time left in the day, he sought out Areis.

Having the Knight title, and the impression that Adam believed him and the other instructors had of him, it should be fine.

He reached the training field, where he had found Areis, quickly.

Walking up to him, waving, Adam said: "Hey, this may be brazen, however, would it be possible to be trained by you?

Adam went on: "I want to improve my conditioning, and your skills will make such efforts much more effective."

Areis stroking his chin, as he pondered, replied: "That is possible. Although improving your condition doesn't require my help specifically. Does it now?"

Adam, aiming to clear his doubts, answered: "As I am seeking to improve my physical abilities, I want to do it an environment with trustworthy, capable people."

"It is in a place where people are skilled and knowledge, where a person is able to give their all to their growth."

Areis responded: "I suppose I can. Otherwise, if you do something wrong here without my help, I don't want to be the one taking the blame. By having something occur that could have been avoided without my supervision."

Adam stated: "Thank you, Areis. I wont be light in my efforts."

Giving a slight smile, Adam asked: "Is is it possible to begin today?"

"Yeah," Areis said, looking over the training field, where knights were striking the training dummies with their swords.

"Do your best to endure." Areis said, his smile meeting Adam's own.

A few hours passed, Adam finished the day's training, dead tired.

After having ran laps for so long, it exhausted him to the bone.

Nevertheless, his higher stats, made the endurance test style training, far simpler.

In another light, however, it made it more grueling having gone far longer at the same time.

Areis's sadistic smile expanded, having again affirmed Adam's resilience.

When Adam returned to his room, he shortly heard a knock at his door.

Opening it, he found a short man with an expansive beard, striking his palm lightly with a small hammer.

His thoughts turning to his recollections of the lecture earlier, and his novel knowledge, it was a Dwarf.

"Hey, are ya Adam?" They asked, their voice deep.

"That is correct." Adam admitted.

Introducing themselves, they said: "I, Vilgrand have been told to find ya, Adam, for your orders for smithing."

"What would you want?" Vilgrand gruffly asked.

He informed: "The open order was for armor and a weapon. Rather wouldn't wait all day, be quick."

Adam had given this a great deal of thought. This order would be for his first real set of armor and weapon since arriving in Randail.

He had to make good use of this opportunity.

He figured, after his experience in the 3rd test, he should choose a weapon that he had used. He could always change it out later.

For armor, it was best to choose more than less in terms of protection.

Adam declared: "Yeah, for a weapon I want a halberd, and the armor should be plated."

Vilgrand heartily laughed, replying: "Most ask for swords. What an uncommon answer. But sure, Adam, I shall see what I can do. The halberd and armor should be finished in a few weeks."

Saying their goodbyes, Vilgrand left.

Adam, was excited at the prospect of getting a halberd and plate armor.

In his elation, he started going over the lecture in his head.

Adam felt that the day was very eventful. The order was finally started, he began his education through Merandin, and physical training through Areis.

Control over his growth that he did not possess while on Earth, required to change himself, to go forward, was open to him now.

Adam was ready to change.

He was ready to take control over his life.
