33.33% The Deaf Mage of Sound / Chapter 2: A Silent World

Kapitel 2: A Silent World

Four years, it had been four years since Ji-ho Han had been sent to a world of complete silence as at the tender age of 7 he had suddenly woken up not being able to hear a single thing. The doctors had no solution and Ji-ho had long given up hope for regaining his hearing over the years, and now it was his 11th Birthday.

"Looks like nothings different today," said Ji-ho with a sigh, "whatever, if there's one thing I learned during the years its that negative thinking won't get me anywhere," for the past 4 years he had woken up disappointed and by this point it was no surprise that his hearing wasn't back.

"Hey Ji-ho, breakfast is ready, come down," called his mom, but Ji-ho shouldn't be able to hear this, he was deaf after all, yet quickly there was a reply.

"Ok mom, I coming," now what was happening here? A deaf person replying to someone calling them, this was impossible, yet for Ji-ho it was the one reason that he was able to adapt so quickly. What Ji-ho thought was a curse, had also brought along a blessing, he had the ability to see the very sound waves that the ears received and this had allowed for him to interpret the meaning of sound waves. However, this was not an automatic process instead it took him 3 years to get to fluent levels of understanding.

"Good morning, mom, dad," Jiho greeted with a smile on his face, as these two people had been his pillars of support over the 4 of the most difficult years of his life.

""Good morning"" they replied

Jiho quickly sat down on chair at the dining table next to his dad who was reading his newspaper

"So, Jiho, have your ears gotten any better?" asked his dad as he turned to him with gentle, hopeful eyes.

"No, it hasn't gotten better," replied Jiho with a tinge of sadness on his face, "but it'll get better at some point, and even if it doesn't I've gotten used to it." said Jiho regaining his optimistic demeanor as he didn't want his parents worrying over him once again, they've worried enough over the four years.

"I'm sure it will, and also, I just hope you know Jiho that, even if it never gets better, that have you me and your mom to lean on if you every need any help." said his dad as he loved his family very mu-

His wholesome thought was quickly interrupted as he felt a strong and painful impact on his head, which he quickly concluded was his wife's.

'Why so early,' thought Jiho's dad as he quickly turned to his wife mournfully "D-Dear, why did you hit me so early in the morning," asked his dad

"Are you dumb or do I have to smack some more sense into you? Why would you make Jiho sad on his Birthday!?" asked Jiho's mom angrily, "You know what, I'll hit you first then decide."

"Wait, Wait, please, I was just trying to talk and cheer up Jiho. Right?" asked Jiho's dad as he turned around for his sons support, yet the only thing he saw was an empty plate and a few dust particles left in his sons place.

In terror the only thing he could squeak out was a quick, "NO," before a barrage of rubber hit face.

Jiho, who had wisely left the scene as soon as he saw what his mother was doing chuckled as quickly prayed for his dad as he heard, or rather, saw the screams of his father.

'I will not forget this sacrifice father' thought Jiho quickly going to his room in order to study, after all he had to prepare to transfer to a different school this year and that place was very different compared to a normal public school. The school he was transferring to was a magical place, literally, it was one of the best schools in the world promising a magical education, it was place called,

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

That's right he was going to become a wizard, just like his mother, boom, another shocking fact his mother, a person who slaps around his father every daily was actually a powerful witch who can break the laws of the universe with the help of magic. If you couldn't tell he was very excited as he had been exposed to magic since a young age and had always wanted to be one, and now he would soon be one.

-----------------------------------------------Flashback----------------------------------------------------

Jiho at the age of eight had locked himself in his room, unable to hear anything and seeing strange waves every time there was a sound he had used his room as a sanctuary, a place away from all the chaos.

'Why is this happening," thought Jiho as he cried his eyes out, "just why" screaming this time as he wanted hear his own voice at least, yet he only heard his voice echo in his own head. This made Jiho incredibly angry as he felt something within himself react to the anger releasing itself, this was Jiho's magical awakening as he pushed everything away from him using pure magic, this however caused Jiho to pass out due to the overuse of magic.

-----------------------------------------------Flashback end-----------------------------------------------

Jiho chuckled sadly as he thought about his depressed self, thinking about how this was both his lowest and highest moment in his life. He had both awakened magic yet also been at his lowest mental state.

"ah, I'm thinking negatively again, don't think like Jiho, you've got to get over it," Jiho repeated to himself aloud as he quickly sat down and started studying magic history and DADA hoping to get a head start compared to his classmates.

A few hours passed until eventually he saw his mom calling for him and quickly replied. As he went down he unexpectedly saw his parents with grim faces.

"What's happening, mom, dad?" He asked as he felt the tension in the air,

"Come here and sit down Jiho," said his dad with a smile, but he could that it was forced

As Jiho sat his mom handed him a letter which he quickly opened assuming it was his acceptance letter, and it was, so why was the mood so tense?

"It's an acceptance letter to Hogwarts, what's wrong?" Jiho asked as he saw nothing wrong with it

*Sigh* "Were just worried Jiho," explained his mom, "you've pretty much completely recovered from 'the event' but what if something happens, me and your dad and worried about you going,"

"I agree with your mom on this and we never know when something could go wrong in Hogwarts with all the magic happening there," said his dad, "and-"

"Mom, Dad," Jiho said in a gentle tone, interrupting their worrying, "I'm not some 7 year old child anymore, I've grown up somewhat and I've matured a lot over the 4 years, you don't need to constantly worry about me, I'll be fine."

Jiho's mom started gently crying as she hugged her son,

"When did you grow up this much," said his mom feeling both happy and sad as her son. the baby bird, slowly left the nest.

"He'll be fine," said his dad reassuring his wife, "I bet he'll be the best student there,"

"Of course I'll be the best" said Jiho with a confident smile, "don't you worry."

as the dramatic moment came to an end Jiho's family slowly started to plan out all they needed in order to get ready.

"Oh right, Jiho, have you ever heard of Diagon Alley?" Asked his mom

"No? What's that,"

"Oh do I have a surprise for you.
