Kapitel 53: Chapter 53: Confronting the Boss

The police officers who were aware of the situation nearby immediately reported Martin Lee's changes to their superiors. The higher-ups ordered them to evacuate the people nearby and provide immediate support.

As the city was in proximity, Overwatch swiftly dispatched a team to the scene.

Martin Lee had gone berserk, causing massive destruction and killing without restraint. Bullets were completely ineffective against him, unable to even penetrate his clothing.

Norman Osborn's bodyguards retreated while firing their weapons, but Martin Lee paid them no attention. His focus was solely on Norman Osborn, who was attempting to escape. With a casual gesture, Martin Lee unleashed a black-and-white shockwave that overwhelmed them.

A spatial rift opened on the building, expanding to reveal six soldiers wearing blue Overwatch combat suits.

The three members of the Lynx Squad were joined by three new recruits.

"The target has bulletproof capabilities and can attack using lightning and shockwaves. Headquarters, requesting support from the large web shooter," the squad leader of the Lynx Squad called out.

"Understood. We have already requested assistance from the nearby police station. They will arrive within a minute."

"Blink, teleport us behind him," the Asian woman next to the Lynx Squad leader said.

"Yes, Captain."

With a swipe of her hand, she created a spatial rift, which expanded to reveal Martin Lee's back.

"Battle formation!"

The Lynx Squad leader shouted, then rushed forward, executing lightning-fast mutations in his claws, ears, and eyes.

Following closely behind was the Iron Eater, who tapped his index finger against the ring on his hand, transforming into a high-intensity composite ceramic form.

Heat Eye and a squad member who was setting up a sniper rifle remained on the building. One was a reconnaissance soldier, and the other was a sniper, so they didn't need to get too close.

The female squad member Blink and another new recruit entered the battlefield, but not as far ahead as the Lynx Squad leader and the Iron Eater.

The Lynx Squad leader delivered a righteous flying kick to Martin Lee's back and swiftly moved to his side as he turned around, launching another attack.

"What are you looking at?"

Thud, thud, thud.

The Lynx was incredibly fast, agilely maneuvering in a small space, and although none of his attacks caused substantial damage to Martin Lee, the latter couldn't even see his assailant.

Yes, this was one of the Lynx's ultimate techniques. With his extraordinary agility, he continuously attacked from the blind spots of his enemy's observation. He called it the Shadow Dance.

Someone like Martin Lee, who possessed great power but lacked noticeable agility enhancements, would be completely suppressed by this technique.

However, the Lynx didn't believe that this move alone could subdue him, so he remained extremely vigilant. After all, he was only buying time at the moment.

In Martin Lee's changing animal eyes, the Lynx's speed seemed like slow-motion. The Lynx could clearly see that he was growing angrier, with his muscles contracting visibly. The black-and-white energy in his body surged.

Blink!

As a veteran, observation was a basic skill, and the Lynx had previously witnessed Martin Lee's shockwaves and lightning attacks. Now, he saw Martin Lee's transformation and appeared behind the Iron Eater in a leap.

"Dodge!" he warned the others.

Blink immediately crouched beside a flower bed, while the Iron Eater raised his front arm to shield himself and took a stable stance, with the brilliance of the main T emanating from his body.

The new recruit, the Magician, pulled out an extendable wand from her sleeve and swung it round before hammering it into the ground.

"Ah!"

Martin Lee roared as a shockwave emanated from him, lifting the bricks and stones from the ground.

The Magician's strike hit the ground, causing the earth to rise like a splash of water, forming a protective barrier that shielded her.

After the shockwave subsided, the Lynx took cover behind the Iron Eater, and the Magician controlled the earth to create a barrier. Blink hadn't gotten too close from the beginning, so Martin Lee's attack was completely ineffective.

"Sniper in position."

The sniper rifle was assembled, and the voice of the new recruit came through the earpiece. He was currently the only ordinary member of the Lynx Squad. After all, becoming a sniper required a long period of training.

"Magician, control him!" the Lynx Squad leader shouted.

"Understood!"

The Magician swung her wand forcefully into the ground, and a peculiar force traveled through the earth, causing a pair of giant stone hands to emerge and firmly grasp Martin Lee.

With Martin Lee immobilized by the giant stone hands visible through the crosshairs, it was an easy target for an accomplished sniper.

Ping!

Bullets from a distance made Martin Lee's head jerk, causing cracks to appear on the protective negative film covering his body.

However, they still didn't breach his defense.

This hit only enraged Martin Lee further, and he unleashed an even more powerful shockwave that instantly shattered the stone hands restraining him and sent the Iron Eater flying.

The airborne Lynx immediately adjusted his balance. It was a feline instinct.

He then extended his hand, launching a strand of webbing that stuck to the Iron Eater's back.

"Let's go!"

Using the webbing, he forcefully swung the Iron Eater toward Martin Lee, and the Lynx swiftly followed suit, sprinting towards him.

Clearly, the Iron Eater and the Lynx had coordinated numerous times before. As the Iron Eater was hurled towards him, he used a fierce charge to slam Martin Lee against the wall, following up with punches from his pot-sized fists to his face.

Although Martin Lee was bulletproof, his weight hadn't changed, and with the Iron Eater's large size and strength, he effortlessly lifted him and slammed him against the wall, delivering heavy blows.

"Magician, prepare a trap."

After seeing that the Iron Eater's attacks, despite being powerful, had little effect, the Lynx Squad leader immediately changed tactics.

Martin Lee was pounded several times, almost suffering a concussion, but then another shockwave erupted, sending the Iron Eater flying once again.

As the airborne Lynx regained his balance, an opening presented itself, and he swiftly shot multiple strands of webbing from his hands. One by one, white objects were shot towards Martin Lee.

By the time the web fluid ran out, Martin Lee was completely encased in a white cocoon.

"Do you think this can trap me?" Martin Lee exclaimed in anger, as he unleashed an energy explosion that shattered the webbing.

"No, the purpose of the webbing is not to trap you," the Lynx calmly replied to Martin Lee. While he spoke, he reached for more web fluid at his waist to reload his web shooters.

"I'm just buying time."

Martin Lee: "..."

He raised his hand, this time gathering silver lightning.

Ping!

Precisely aimed bullets struck him in the temple, causing his head to jerk, and the protective negative film on his body showed signs of cracking.

"Damn it!"

He roared in frustration.

Why were these people so infuriating?

"I'm ready," the Magician said.

"Wait a moment..." When the Lynx said this, he suddenly heard the sound of a helicopter. In response, he immediately changed his statement.

"Take action immediately!"

"Watch me score!"

The Iron Eater rushed forward with an imposing momentum, lifting Martin Lee as if playing football and fiercely slamming him into the ground.

Before Martin Lee could even touch the ground, a portal appeared below, and the Iron Eater's ball disappeared in an instant.

Thud!

Thud!

Thud!

A muffled sound came from below, and the Magician, sweating, said, "I may not be able to hold him for long."

"The helicopter is in position. Buddy, can you hear me?" the pilot asked.

"Received. Where is the target?" the Lynx Squad leader responded.

"He's underground. When I give you the signal, unload all the high-tensile webbing on him, but remember, use the high-tensile webbing."

"Understood."

After communicating with the pilot, the Lynx immediately told the Magician, "Create an opening for him."

"He'll create it himself!"

Boom!

Martin Lee burst through the ground trap, but before he could jump out, the helicopter above began firing.

Worthington's specially designed large web shooter unleashed a torrent of firepower, with canister after canister of web fluid rapidly emptying, engulfing Martin Lee's vision in boundless white.

...

Heat Eye observed Martin Lee's repeated bursts of energy within the binding web, but his shockwaves couldn't break free from the loose, porous webbing. The webbing had exceptional resilience, and whenever a gap was created by the shockwaves, it would release the pressure and then return to its original state, trapping him inside.

Wave after wave of silver lightning erupted, but the webbing ignored them completely. From the very beginning, these web threads were designed to deal with enemies that used electricity, drawing from the experiences of another world's Spider-Man.

"Using one of the 1,000 web-shooting plans actually came in handy." The pilot marveled at the shining webbing ball below.

Initially, he thought having so many plans was too flashy, but now he sincerely apologized to the designer.
