Kapitel 240: Time skip/Training

You continued living and before you know it, nearly two months have passed.
My second year had finally come to an end and I was about to start my third and final year of high school.
During these times, a lot of things happened including the fact that I have already introduced Marin and Saki to each other.
It happened when I asked Marin where she got her contact lenses and other advice in general about contact lenses.
She asked why I wanted to know and I answered honestly and said Saki wanted to replace her glasses.
She got an idea and told me we could all go out together and buy lenses for Saki. And that's what we did.
Me, Saki and Marin went out together to shop for contact lenses. In the end, Saki ended up buying multiple contact lenses, some even with different colours.
Other than that, the hype for my upcoming title match was going strong and Korea was also busy preparing their stadium to hold the event.
It was to be the biggest UFC match in history.
Not only was this the highest-earning match but if I win this, it would be a new record, the youngest champion in UFC history.
There was even a whole lore about my beginning being in Korea and my journey ending in Korea. It was just some narrative the UFC marketing team was pushing to increase the hype.
I was still popular on the internet, especially with the upcoming match, with fans searching madly for information. My pictures with Saki even went viral and I cemented my reputation as the lady's man.
Speaking about Saki, she had already moved into the Itan hostel, away from her family and she seemed to be happy there.
Last time I checked, she made new friends and even became popular because of me. I was glad that her life was turning out good and she was happy.
Anything to see her smile.

My thought was cut short as I ducked under a powerful kick that was very much faster than the speed of sound.
*FWOOSH!!"
Sound reached my ears when the attack had long gone. I stood upright and put up my hands to guard my head as I took multiple steps back from my opponent.
I did not see that coming, yet my body was able to react on time. I did not need to see, hear or feel to react to an attack. I just know.
I was able to dodge the attack but that was not what I was trying to do here. I was training to learn how to attack.
"Observer bias." Wonderboy said as he continued walking me down the ring, "That's the scientific term for the tendency of people to see what they expect to see instead of what is actually there."
I saw his shoulder muscle contract and there was a shift in his hips. A hook, I was able to see the attack before it was even there.
I reacted, I leaned back to doge the hook and threw a counterattack.
Except the hook never came.
Wonderboy did not throw a hook and was just stepping in range. My counterattack became a broken attack and leaning back to dodge the hook became just me disrupting my posture.
But I could still save myself. I saw him move his hand towards my chin and I knew this was going to be a jab. I did not make the same mistake this time and only reacted when he launched his attack.
I pull my hand towards my chin to shield my chin but the jab oddly slowed down the closer it got to me. His hand went past my chin and grabbed the back of my head,
it was not a jab, it was an attempt to clinch.

Or not, I thought to myself as I was kneed right at my core. I pushed him away at his chest and created distance between us again.
"See? If you expect a hook you will see a hook. If you expect an attack you will see an attack. Your own mind becomes your greatest enemy." Wonderboy said.
Wonderboy and I have become good friends since our match and this was not the first time we have been training together.
It was the reason why my null attack skill was at Intermediate.
He had come to Japan after I invited him. He said he had never been to Japan and I even showed him around when he first came.
But as we are both martial arts enthusiasts, we can't help training together. He taught me striking and his null attacks and I taught him wrestling.
"At an advanced level, it is great to be able to predict or expect an attack. In fact, many thought that the better you are at predicting your opponent, the stronger you are. This is true until you reach a world-class level."
"Here, everything is different," Wonderboy said as he threw a combination at me which I was able to block but using my animal instinct.
"Null attacks, as I liked to call them, is the pinnacle of striking. It takes advantage of everything I have said before. This is the next step before killing off your intent or erasing the origin of your attacks."
"There might be a time when the opponent is able to cover all of his blind spots. There could be a time when he would be able to see your attacks. In these cases, you will have to simply create your own blind spot." Wonderboy said as I caught a jab I never even saw coming but I was able to react with my instinct.
"It normally works as not all are born with crazy instincts like you." He said with a sour tone and I let out a chuckle.
"But what if the person have no blind spot or I am not able to create a blind spot." I said and he laughed.
"That's impossible. You have two eyes but they can focus only on one point." He said with a smile. "And when you are moving as fast as we do and we are in constant motion, even if their eyes are trained and they are able to see it, their brain can't process all that information." He said.
"And you can't train your brain like your body so its impossible to not have a blind spot or create one." I completed with a nod of understanding.
'At least if you don't have a demon brain like some monster or something.'
"Right." Wonderboy said and we continued sparring and he continued teaching me.
It was his plan to only stay in Japan for a week at most but he has been here for a month now. During this, we have trained a lot but the main focus was on me as I have a future title fight coming.
I might have permanent stats and can't improve much without a real fight but I wouldn't be able to face the biggest match of my life without training right?
I got hit on the face,
"Ouch."
"Focus kid."
Okay.
