Kapitel 14: Pondering

Lumina let out a soft yawn, her eyes heavy as she gazed at the dense tome on her desk. Her head felt like it was made of lead as she struggled to keep herself from succumbing to her tiredness right there in the classroom. The words on the pages seemed to dance before her, blurring and merging into an incomprehensible tapestry as weariness took its toll.

'Come on, I am a growing child. I need to get my sleep. Maybe I should punish them for taking away my sleep time.' she sighed, 'Why do I have to sit here with others when I finished a long time ago.'

The only thing that kept her awake was the dark and unsettling presence emanated from Professor Quirrell.

As he paced nervously around the classroom, a relentless wave of malevolent energy seemed to pour from him, enveloping the room in an eerie atmosphere unnoticed by the rest of the students.

The dark aura was so potent that it sent shivers down her spine.

'All the anger, murder, all the pride, torture, and all the arrogance. Truly worthy of being called a dark lord.'

There were more and more questions floating in her head as he watched the heir of Slytherin only a few steps away, which finally pushed back the last vestiges of her tiredness.

Lumina's thoughts were drawn to the history of Salazar Slytherin and his descendants. Especially, the enigmatic connection they shared with snakes.

'The power to control and speak with snakes is carried down their bloodline, but what is its origin? Can it be related to demons?'

She was Morningstar, and she was associated with a black goat. So, if her father sent her here, there was no guarantee the other six sins didn't send their own children, of which some could arrive much earlier.

'The black fly Belzebub, black octopus Leviathan, and black snake Samael... Hmm, Uncle Samael could have something with this.' A smile crept onto her face, 'If they are truly here, then I will make them my lackeys.'

Pride swelled in her chest as she knew her father was the most senior of the seven sins, the first-born angel that led their rebellion against his own father. He was the being second only to the god and his twin brother, Michael.

The stuttering voice brought her back, "M-miss Morningstar, please focus on your reading assignment."

"I finished a long time ago..." she mumbled, but there was no response as Quirelly was interested in teaching as least as he possibly could without getting fired.

It was simply too boring for her as the children around her were only mortals, lacking the perfect bloodline of her father; they were not her foes.

'Huh?' She turned back as she felt something.

The blonde-haired Slytherin boy immediately averted his gaze, looking into his textbook, trying to look as inconspicuous as possible. However, his feeble attempt couldn't escape Lumina's attention.

She was used to being gazed upon, but something about his stare was different—there was simply too much fear in it.

'Why so suddenly? Just yesterday, he didn't seem to care about me. I don't like this.' The fear was so overpowering when compared to the rest of the students she was sure its origin had to be different than just the rumors above her.

'He must know something...' The smile returned to her face as she spotted her next person of interest, 'His father is an influential ministry official. What if they already know about me?'

She was now sure she needed to have a serious talk with Draco Malfoy.

POV Draco:

'Did she notice?' He slightly raised his gaze from his book only to shudder and immediately turn his back down, 'Why is she staring at me?!'

The owl from his father didn't even let him sleep, and now he was forced to be in the same classroom as she. He could hardly keep his calm, his body so sweaty he felt like he just come out of a rainstorm.

'This is bad. What are they even thinking when they allowed her to walk free? She should be locked up in Azkaban. Huh?'

Something hit him in the face, and his eyes fell on a small crumpled piece of paper. With shivering hands, he spread it open.

There was only a single sentence written in perfect cursive, 'Let's meet after classes.'

'I am so dead.' His vision immediately darkened, the fear growing even stronger.
