Kapitel 55: Breaking records

As the players on both teams grew increasingly restless, the coaches of the two teams couldn't remain still.

Despite Schaaf's efforts to increase the players' strength and physical confrontation, he didn't want them to receive cards so recklessly!

For some non-critical defensive situations, there are better options, but they are still trying to foul, leaving others speechless.

Therefore, he gestured for the players to calm down.

On the other side, Klopp also shouted at the players, urging them to play smarter and not to be deceived by the opponents.

Werder Bremen is not a direct competitor of Dortmund, so it isn't worth paying such a high price for a team like that!

From the bench, I witnessed players from both sides constantly receiving cards, especially the Dortmund players on the opposing side.

Lucas couldn't help but almost burst into laughter. Gundogan and Kehl are both players who plays in his attacking zone. It is undoubtedly good news for him that these two individuals received cards specially Kehl as defensive midfielder.

With a yellow card, they would surely be more cautious and less likely to commit fouls in the second half of the game.

This allowed me to exploit their defenses even more recklessly!

The first half quickly came to an end. Werder Bremen failed to equalize the score, and Dortmund missed the opportunity to extend their lead.

The score remained 1-0 on the field.

At the start of the second half, Werder Bremen made some personnel adjustments.

In the 55th minute, Lucas enters the field, replacing Ignjovski who had received a yellow card.

As Lucas took the field, the fans of Werder Bremen immediately became excited.

"He's coming! Finally, he's on the stage!"

"This game wasn't going so well. If it weren't for those yellow cards in the first half, I would have turned off the live broadcast a long time ago!"

"It's different now. Could it be that the tactics have changed?"

"Hehe, both sides were committing wild fouls in the first half, disrupting the flow of the game. Dortmund's fast-paced offense couldn't be executed properly!"

"No doubt about it! Isn't the score still 1-0? Dortmund is leading!"

"Suffering a small setback is still considered a win. Just one goal against Dortmund is considered a good result. Besides, Lucas hasn't even played yet, has he?"

Many fans had high hopes for Lucas, believing that with his skills, Werder Bremen might be able to turn the score around in the second half.

Some even thought Lucas could score three goals and achieve a hat-trick!

This statement naturally drew ridicule from Dortmund fans:

"Hehe, Dortmund isn't a pushover. Let's get started first. Does a substitute really think he can score three goals against Dortmund?"

  Someone mocked Lucas's substitute status.

"Look, Klopp has already found a way to contain Lucas. He won't score a single goal in this game!"

Others had high expectations for the magical Klopp.

The fans at Dortmund's home stadium booed Lucas, who is about to make his debut.

"Dortmund fans seem to remember the game from 20 days ago. They're booing Lucas, who's about to come off the bench, more intensely than ever before!"

  He couldn't help but smile.

"The more the opponent values him, the more it shows his strength and threat as a player. Lucas scored a goal in the last game, drew a red card and won a penalty kick.

It was a major turning point for the team. It's understandable that Dortmund fans fear him so much!"

Clive Tyldesley looking forward to Lucas's performance after his debut.

It was a pity for him that he couldn't commentate on the Telekom Cup in the last game. Who would have thought that a young 16 year old boy would rise out of nowhere and shine in the Telekom Cup?

  ...

As it turned out, the Dortmund fans were justified.

After Lucas came on, Werder Bremen's offensive threat in the frontcourt immediately increased.

De Bruyne, who had struggled to establish a good understanding with his teammates before, completely revitalized Werder Bremen's frontcourt attack with a series of well-coordinated plays after Lucas's entrance.

Shortly after the second half began, Werder Bremen's right-wing attack is fully activated, forcing Dortmund to retreat and abandon the left-wing attack to suppress the opponent's offense.

In the 65th minute of the game, De Bruyne passed the ball to Lucas, who dribbled through after receiving it.

After evading Groskreutz, he faced the opponent's defensive midfielder, Kehl

Kehl had received a yellow card in the first half, limiting his defensive movements.

This significantly weakened his defensive abilities, making it easy for Lucas to pass him.

Witnessing their teammate being bypassed, Hummels and Schmelzer immediately double-teamed Lucas.

Both expected Lucas to continue pushing forward, but to their surprise, Lucas passed the ball back to De Bruyne.

De Bruyne then sent the ball to Elia on the left. Elia dribbled the ball down and crossed it into the Dortmund penalty area.

Under the interference of defensive players in the penalty area, Arnautovic failed to seize the opportunity.

However, Dortmund's defenders missed their chance. Lucas, who had quickly advanced, saw the opening, jumped up, and headed the ball into the goal.

The score became 1-1, and Werder Bremen equalized within the first 20 minutes of the second half!

Werder Bremen's offense played fluidly and smoothly.

This made Coach Thomas Schaaf on the sidelines very excited. It is the frontcourt cooperation he had dreamed of!

When the goal is scored, Lucas is stunned. He had planned to control the ball with his chest before shooting.

But seeing Schmelzer and Hummels rushing towards him, he worried that controlling the ball might waste precious time.

So, he instinctively headed the ball, not expecting it to go into the net.

This is Lucas's first goal in the Bundesliga and his first header goal in his career.

  ...

"I have an important update for everyone. We have just received information from the Bundesliga organizers regarding Lucas's remarkable achievement of setting two records in this game.

He has broken the previous record held by Nuri Sahin for the youngest appearance in the Bundesliga, which was 16 years and 334 days old, and he has significantly extended this record to 16 years and 186 days.

Furthermore, the goal he scored has also shattered the record for the youngest goalscorer in Bundesliga history, previously held by Nuri Sahin.

Sahin had set the record during the 2005 season when Nuremberg played against Dortmund. At that time, Sahin was 17 years and 82 days old.

Lucas has now raised this record to an incredible 16 years and 186 days.

My goodness, it's highly unlikely that anyone will be able to break these records for a very long time in the future!"

Jim Beglin couldn't contain his excitement as he witnessed the birth of these two records. For an experienced commentator like him, who has been covering the matches for many years, such moments are rare and special.

Clive Tyldesley is filled with awe and admiration. Lucas's achievements transcend ordinary expectations. How many players can break five records in a row? Three records in the Telekom Cup and now two records in the Bundesliga.

It seems like breaking records comes as naturally to him as eating and drinking!

As Lucas scored the goal and broke the records, relevant notifications appeared on the big screen in Dortmund.

The Dortmund fans had mixed feelings upon witnessing the birth of these records. From the perspective of regular fans, it is only natural to applaud a player who could achieve such remarkable milestones.

However, from the standpoint of Dortmund fans, seeing their own team being the background for the opponent's records they felt extremely uncomfortable because whenever someone remembers these records they also remember Dortmund.

Dortmund fans are torn in their emotions. They fell into silence, refraining from booing Lucas.

But in that moment, amidst the Dortmund players, someone applauded Lucas.

As Reus returned to his own half, he is taken aback when he saw the reminder on the big screen. He proceeded to applaud Lucas.

The other Dortmund players hesitated for a moment, then glanced at their captain.

Hummels looked at Reus and then at Lucas.

Despite their past encounter in the Telecom Cup, where Hummels was sent off for fouling Lucas and received a red card, there was a hint of lingering resentment between them.

However, as professional players, they didn't hold grudges based on past unpleasant experiences when playing against each other.

Hummels took the lead in applauding Lucas. Witnessing the captain's gesture, the other Dortmund players followed suit, applauding Lucas one after another.

The auditorium also erupted in scattered applause.

Lucas is pleasantly surprised by the respectful reception from the opponents.

He felt too embarrassed to celebrate on the opponent's home ground.

So he raised his hand to signal for the applause to subside, making a non-celebratory gesture. Then he trotted over to Reus's side, giving him a warm hug.

"Thank you, Marco!"

"You're welcome. You earned it, but be careful next time. We won't let you score again!"

Reus didn't forget that they were currently opponents. While offering his congratulations, he also made it clear where his allegiance lay.

"Hehe, that will depend on how well your defense performs!"

...

Lucas's record-breaking feat had undeniably ignited a fire within Dortmund.

As the game resumed, their defense against Lucas reached a whole new level, with a dedicated shadow-marker assigned to him.

Gundogan, who was originally Dortmund's midfield commander, now had the primary task of marking Lucas in the second half.

With the tight marking from the opponent, it became incredibly challenging for Lucas to receive the ball.

His teammates hesitated to pass him the ball, resulting in a decline in Werder Bremen's frontcourt attack.

On the other side, without Gundogan's commanding presence in midfield, Dortmund's offense lacked fluency. Despite mounting pressure on Werder Bremen's goal, they failed to alter the scoreline.

With time ticking away, Klopp grew increasingly restless.

He called Gotze, instructing him to warm up and prepare for his entry into the game.
