Isabella looked out the window and saw that things were starting to calm down outside. The loud noises and confusion that had filled the city were fading away. This meant that the army of demons that had attacked Northpine City had been beaten back.

She had mixed feelings about the whole situation. She felt glad, in one way, because the demons hadn't managed to take over the city. She knew that even if they had won today, they would have been beaten back soon anyway. If this kind of attack had happened at the main battle area of the ongoing war, then maybe it could have been a big win for the demons.

But Isabella also thought it was a really bad idea for the demons to attack a human city so far away from the main battle. She felt that this surprise attack wouldn't give them a lasting victory. The demon soldiers who had taken part in this attack were probably going to die sooner or later.
