The driver suddenly parked the car in front of a massive white mansion. Immediately, I knew we arrived, and so I became serious.
The driver opened the door for both of us, and we stood side by side in the front gate of a grand white mansion, ready to make some fucking connections!
As I looked behind me, an awe-inspiring sight unfolded before my eyes: a dazzling display of luxury cars parked in a neat line along the sidewalk. Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, Mercedes—every kind of supercar imaginable, worth tens, if not hundreds, of millions of dollars collectively. It was both mesmerizing and overwhelming, a stark reminder of the immense wealth and power surrounding me.
Adem and the others possessed a level of influence and affluence far beyond my own, making me feel like a small fish in a vast ocean.
I was going in blind at a party where big shots were present, relying on a web of lies to conceal my true identity. With every step, I prayed the web of lies wouldn't crumble beneath me.
While I was thinking, Adem and I were approached by a security guard and demanded identification.
With a mere utterance of Adem Krasniqi's full name, the guard visibly trembled and swiftly granted us access, without requiring any further proof of identity. The massive doors creaked open, revealing a breathtaking scene within.
Darjan did warn me in the beginning that Adem is a dangerous person, but I didn't think much of it. Yes he did have a mansion and many cars, also he had more men than me but still I didn't think he was that much better than me, but I was starting to realize how wrong I was.
Anyhow, stepping into the mansion's main hall, I was utterly awestruck. Approximately a hundred guests adorned in luxurious accessories and outfits mingled elegantly, exuding an air of divine sophistication. The hall's grandeur was accentuated by Two majestic staircases, their magnificence accentuated by the rich red carpet, adding an air of elegance to the surroundings.
My attention was drawn to the second floor, where a formidable display of more than 50 guards, each wielding assault rifles, stood watchfully, casting stern gazes upon the crowd below.
Yet I found some reassurance in Adem's presence beside me...? "WHERE IS ADEM!?!?" I screamed in panic internally, when I turned my head but Adem was nowhere to be found.
"Shit, Adem played a crucial role for me to gain some connections but now he's gone, i don't fucking know how to act with these people." I thought, as I quickly retreated to the side and sank into a plush, luxurious chair. Biting my finger nervously, I grappled with a sense of helplessness, unsure of how to proceed and interact with these influential individuals.
Lost in my internal turmoil, I caught the attention of a server who approached me with concern, seeking to ascertain my well-being.
"Dear sir, are you feeling well?" the server inquired, extending kindness my way.
"Yea br- Of course, sir, please do not concern yourself with me," I replied, attempting to dismiss his worries.
"As you wish. Before I depart, please accept this as a gesture of goodwill," the server offered me a glass of champagne.
I gratefully accepted the glass and bid him farewell, feeling a surge of conflicting desires. I longed to remove my mask, to breathe freely, but the constraints of my circumstances prevented such indulgence.
In an attempt to anchor myself, I pinched my thigh discreetly, refocusing my resolve. Rising from the comfort of the chair, I approached a small group of people engaged in conversation, determined to make a connection in this unfamiliar territory.
"Hello, I am interested in forming a connection with you," I announced straight forwardly, stepping into the circle, hoping to be received with open arms.
"What? Get the fuck out of here with that retarded mask," one individual from the group retorted.
I was expecting more mature and intelligent people, but the reality proved me wrong.
Disheartened by the less-than-warm reception, I withdrew, scanning the surroundings for a glimpse of hope. And then, my eyes locked onto a figure that shattered my preconceived impression of the mafia.
Danijel Loredan, the Minister of Health, stood among the crowd, and it dawned on me that the influence of the mafia had infiltrated even the core of the country. Awesome right?
Shocked, I approached Danijel and the group he was conversing with, extending my hand confidently.
"Excuse me, my name is The Nameless," I introduced myself, expecting a handshake, which was graciously reciprocated.
"Hahahah, The Nameless? And the mask? You look like you just stepped out of a cartoon. Hahahah, get out of my face, dumbass," Danijel mocked, shattering my hopes of a more mature reception.
"How can a minister be so rude?" I thought to myself.
These rude fucking bastard were starting to get on my nerves. It took all my willpower to restrain myself from punching these motherfuckers. The situation was testing my patience to its limits.
And back I was in the middle of the main hall alone, looking like a lost child.
After drinking that champagne, the urge to use the restroom compelled me to climb the grand red staircase. As I ascended, I noticed people looking at me with concern and whispering behind my back, but I brushed it off, assuming it was nothing serious. However, as I reached the top, my heart dropped when I found myself surrounded and confronted by guards pointing more than 50 rifles directly at me. I stood frozen, uncertain of what had led to this alarming standoff.
Reacting swiftly, I raised my hands in surrender, voicing my confusion and concern, attempting to defuse the tension that had enveloped the scene.
"Wow, wow, what's all this? I'm just trying to find a restroom. I couldn't locate one downstairs, so I came up. Why all these guns?" I blurted out, hoping to find a reasonable explanation for the excessive show of force.
A guard came right up to my face and with an unwavering gaze and a stern expression spoke in a cold, commanding tone, leaving no room for negotiation.
"Access upstairs is restricted. Only the four families' dons are permitted, so move it!"
"Oh, okay. Is there a bathroom downstairs? Most of the doors seemed locked," I asked, my urgency evident in my voice.
"Yes, there is one behind that door," the guard replied, pointing to a door downstairs.
"Alright, you could've simply directed me there. No need for all these guns over one person. Good grief," I muttered under my breath, complying with his instructions.
"Leave."
Lowering my hands, I descended the stairs, sharply aware of the mocking gazes and laughter directed at my expense.
While I relieved myself in the restroom, I was startled by the sudden absence of sound from the outside. The usual cacophony of elegant music and people's voices had ceased, leaving an eerie silence in its wake. Feeling a sense of unease, I hastily pulled up my pants and washed my hands.
Exiting the bathroom, I was met with a scene that confused me. All the lights in the hall were focused on the two grand red staircases, illuminating them dramatically. The intense spotlight drew my attention, intensifying the already palpable atmosphere of suspense and anticipation.
From the center of the main hall, a figure stood with a microphone, ready to address the assembly.
"Ladies and gentlemen, thanks to the Romano family, we have all gathered here today to introduce ourselves. It was their brilliant idea to unite all underworld figures and facilitate mutual acquaintance. Over the past years, the underworld's economic growth and personnel have surged by a staggering 200%, an unprecedented expansion that has led to the creation of billions of dollars in wealth. Let us now welcome the leaders of the four major families, gathered here together!" the announcer's voice reverberated through the hall, eliciting excitement and anticipation from the crowd.
My eyes widened in disbelief as I gulped "Billions?!"
